Sad to see eamon + Ruth leave this morning

Just read eamon and Ruth will no longer be hosting Fridays This Morning in favour of Alison and Dermot. While I like them I like the fact eamon and Ruth don't have to socially distance and they have that old married couple banter we can all relate to. It's a shame Holly and Phil couldn't do one less day so they can stay on and continue to mix it up a bit

I would love Ruth and Alison together, that would be my ideal.

LuckyAmy1986 · 15/11/2020 15:16

He's always saying daft stuff and trying to humiliate Ruth so true, can't stand him

Cantdothis78 · 15/11/2020 15:17

I love Eamon! Ruth is nice too, although needs to soften up a little perhaps.
Holly & Phil are really boring these days and it’s awkward to watch them, I likely won’t bother tuning it now.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 15/11/2020 22:48

I like Ruth and Eamon, Scofield and Holly just collapsed in “spontaneous” fits of giggles over nothing is so bloody boring. Allison is very “I’m mad, me”. I don’t mind Dermot, prefer Rylan tbh but he is very busy and does the One show lots. Maybe Josie and Rylan would have been a good combination.

Standrewsschool · 15/11/2020 22:53

I really like Ruth and Eamonn.

After watching Children in Need, perhaps they should use Mel and Stephen Mangan.

Standrewsschool · 15/11/2020 22:57

Marvin and Rochelle Humes would be good alternatives.

AhoyMeFarties · 16/11/2020 11:11

@Standrewsschool

Marvin and Rochelle Humes would be good alternatives.
Oh God no , they always look so uncomfortable and false to me . I like Eamonn and Ruth .Phil and Holly are just getting too silly at the moment , they need to calm down I can't watch when Alison presents , she turns everything round to being about her

Very disappointed that Eamonn and Ruth are no longer going to be doing Fridays. It's the only day I watched. Maybe it's because I'm their age or the fact they bicker a bit but I always feel it's more honest. Holly and Phil are so 'perfect', lots of in jokes, knowing looks at each other, smugness , it completely puts me off.
I saw Alison and Dermot together for one show and felt he was a bit embarrassed by her loudness and just let her get on with it. I do like the bits she does during the show, love her attitude and energy, but wonder if she'll have to scale it back to fit in with the serious subjects covered.
ITV you should oust H&P, give E&R Monday-Thursday and then leave A&D to present Fridays!

Torvean32 · 20/11/2020 02:10

I wish Holly and Phill ( with their inside jokes) would just leave.

butterpuffed · 20/11/2020 08:41

I don't get all the hatred for Phil and Holly in here, they're okay.

I thought it was a bit odd to have Alison and Dermot presenting the programme the other week as if they were just filling in , then we hear Eamonn and Ruth a few days later they have been dropped . A bit ruthless [not meant to be a pun !] and sudden by ITV.

Dermot is okay on radio 2 but I don't think he has a big enough personality to carry this programme. I like Alison but only in small doses, she can be overpowering.

summersounds · 20/11/2020 08:51

Holly and Phil grate on me. Can't stand their fits of giggles, I suppose they think viewers are sat there laughing with them, some might be, but in general it's a bore to watch. Holly is a airhead and has no personality or depth, just says and asks what she meant to do, nothing more to her, she is there as a "pretty blonde", her presenting on I'm a celeb just highlighted the lack of personality and humour she has. Phil is smug as well, and full of himself

SpectralPlot · 20/11/2020 10:18

I wouldn't be surprised if the smug pair (not to mention H's ITV producer husband- nepotism anyone?) engineered it. R&E know all the dirt on why Phil suddenly came out and his fondness for (much) younger colleagues. It would be convenient to keep them at a distance. Sadly I don't think H & P will be going anywhere (unless she falls out with him).

AhoyMeFarties · 20/11/2020 10:28

I agree with you @SpectralPlot there is something going on behind the scenes
Watching E & R today, they positively shine above the other presenters

PimlicoJo · 22/11/2020 08:41

I only watch when it's Eamonn and Ruth; I can't stand Phil. I like Alison, but in small doses. She's too full on for me to watch a whole show presented by her.

Years ago I knew Eamonn in real life. He was very nice, very kind and although outwardly confident, actually quite shy. He adores Ruth.

Igglepiggle78 · 22/11/2020 09:13

R&E were brilliant on Friday, so natural and entertaining to watch. I agree that Eamon just seems like a really lovely guy

BenoneBeauty · 22/11/2020 09:46

I think you're onto something there too @SpectralPlot

Ellmau · 22/11/2020 11:39

Apparently now in talks with the BBC...

BenoneBeauty · 22/11/2020 11:41

I think they're a bit too fluff for the BBC unless it's the One Show or Strictly! Would love it if they did a separate version of This Morning on the BBC! That would be perfect!

KarensChoppyBob · 18/02/2021 13:53

Sorry not sorry to resurrect an old thread but I really enjoyed watching R&E this morning. There's something comforting about their little marital bickers which you don't get with the smuggy mcSmuggerson pair.

Madtimes78 · 18/02/2021 16:20

@KarensChoppyBob I know! It just makes it even more baffling 🤷🏻‍♀️

lollipoprainbow · 18/02/2021 17:55

Wish Eamonn and Ruth could present all the time they are so professional yet have the banter too without resorting to childish innuendos and giggles. Ruth has empathy too unlike airhead Holly who sits there pretending to sympathise with sad stories when in fact she leads a charmed life (look at her completely over the top 40th birthday celebrations on This morning!). I find her and Phil totally fake and unrelatable but they are well in with the itv bosses so are here to stay sadly.

Madtimes78 · 18/02/2021 18:15

@lollipoprainbow Completely..! The majority of people seem to say the same and they’re glaringly so much better, surely the programme bosses can see that, the figures must show it.

lollipoprainbow · 18/02/2021 18:33

@Madtimes78 they don't seem to see it ! Might start a petition !!

tofuschnitzel · 18/02/2021 18:42

I guess that means they will have more time to devote to flogging those weird circulation plates for leg pain.

Madtimes78 · 18/02/2021 18:57

@lollipoprainbow 🤣I really do think it’s needed! The other shows with P&ah are painful to watch 🙈
