Anyone waiting for This is Us season 5? Hopefully will show in UK end of October! Anyone who hasn't watched it, I would strongly recommend it!

Strongly dislike US adoption storylines, their social services/welfare system and adoption regulations are messed up.
Totally agree!

In all US series with adoption story lines it makes me cringe! It's all about fulfilling the wishes of adults without any regard for the child! And not a single child ever exhibits FAS or attachment disorders (which I'm aware won't make great TV)... but the whole "I want a child, oh look there's a cute one" makes me sick.

I'm behind still - yesterday Randall and Beth went to see Hai and 1) how improbable is that story and 2) Randall, stop being a dick!

They go and see this guy, who very kindly invites them to hear all about why William wasn't a prick, and he tells a story that clearly means a lot to him and Randall starts grumping at him for not getting to the point and telling him the bits he wants to hear! And then they get a farmhouse in New Orleans?? Really really going off Randall right now.

It was horrible wasn't it :( I've seen that bit but hoping the episode finishes okay for his future - after all the years of sadness I want him to be happy.

I adore Nicky, watching ep 11 now. I shouted out loud and woke the dog up when he dropped the globes 😭 he is my new favourite character. It still bugs me that he was wearing a wedding ring at the end of last season (when Rebecca was dying). I'm desperate to know the story!!

I'm glad Cassidy is back but I quite like Kevin and Madison together now.

We were willing that too. Very sweet episode. I like how it’s not afraid to let the show stand still and take in a moment sometimes. It’s not always about moving the story forward (sometimes that’s it’s downfall too though)

I absolutely loved every second of that episode. I cried when he was painting the figurines, when he dropped the snow globes and when he talked to the twins. I shouted at him when he didn't enter the bar or speak to Jack outside.
I love Nicky and his relationship with Cassidy.

Love Uncle Nicky and his relationship with Kevin. They are the least soppy/saccharine of the characters and that’s so refreshing .

I agree shivermetimbers and they both (as Madison IIRC says) have spent a lot of time trying to make Jack (the big man) proud of them. I could have done without the schmaltzy music.

I thought it was interesting that Jack's veteran friend told him it was fine to put the Vietnam experiences in a box in the back of his mind and not let it entrap him. Nicky was entrapped throughout his life and unable to do what he wanted, by his time in Vietnam and also by his family dynamics - really sad. Kevin and Cassidy have really opened out life for Nicky.
