I would say
Hollyoaks is the best soap.

OP posts:
Plussizejumpsuit · 09/10/2020 21:00

I got 5 min into fleabag. The world is fucking full of posh white people I really didn't need another program about one.

Standrewsschool · 09/10/2020 22:26

I like Mrs Brown Boys (and was giggling away at tonight episode)

Runnerduck34 · 09/10/2020 23:26

Great British bake off is completely overrated and frankly just boring.
Britains got talent proves sadly that actually we don't, Any reality tv show Gogglebox, love island etc is rubbish .
But I do love strictly🤣

DipSwimSwoosh · 09/10/2020 23:34

Panel shows are irritating. The same slebs laughing at themselves and each other on every channel.

I quite like Mrs Brown's Boys as well.

chrislilleyswig · 10/10/2020 10:52

Celebrity versions of shows are boring and it's the same old faces every time

Katherine Ryan is not funny and shouldn't be on every programme

JimmyJabs · 10/10/2020 12:46

Jed Mercurio is nowhere near as clever as he has fooled everyone into believing.

Mad Men was boring and indulgent, as are quite a lot of "prestige" long-running American TV shows.

And American series are usually way too long, both in the number of seasons and the number of episodes per season. I much prefer the UK approach, which is generally to leave you wanting more as opposed to feeling heartily sick of it.

SweetRuby · 10/10/2020 13:03

I can't stand mrs Brown boys and I found Normal people the most depressing show on earth. Couldn't get into Fleabag either and I've never watched an episode of dancing with the stars or dancing on ice.

TartanSlippers · 10/10/2020 13:10

Alan Partridge is a monumental tosspot. Likewise Keith Lemon.

The Royle Family was desperately self-indulgent and unfunny.

BGT audiences couldn't identify a genuinely talented & well-trained dancer if their lives depended on it.

KatherineJaneway · 10/10/2020 13:34

Ah yes, The Royle Family, tried to like it but only ever laughed at one joke on it. My boss at the time said I'd have to be Northern to get it Confused

RaraRachael · 10/10/2020 14:08

Don't like panel shows and there isn't a comedian who makes me laugh.
Agree with PP about Normal People - utterly dreary and depressing. Don't know why I bothered watching till the end. Maybe in the vain hope that it might improve.

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 10/10/2020 15:14

I don’t really get the “Soaps are shit - I’ve never seen an episode”. Well how do you know then?? Likewise GoT etc. Fine not to like it if you’ve watched an episode/you don’t think it will be your cup of tea so don’t watch but that’s different.

I don’t know anyone who watches Strictly also.

emmetgirl · 10/10/2020 15:26

All the following are shit:
Strictly
I'm a celebrity
Anything with celebrity in the title
Soaps
Reality tv
Bake off
Any "talent" show
Most things on ITV
Most things on channel 5
Mrs Brown's Boys

Spacecudet · 10/10/2020 16:05

Reading this I realise my thoughts aren't unpopular. Hate Strictly, anything on ITV and soaps. Normal People was the worst thing I had ever seen.
Love Ghosts though, it's great to watch a comedy my children can watch too. Loved Outnumbered as well. Man Like Mobeen is hilarious.

ageingdisgracefully · 10/10/2020 16:21

I like Mrs Brown's Boys.
I detest Gogglebox with a vengeance - it's not remotely funny. Just annoying.
I've never watched Strictly, Big Brother or any of those reality shows.
Never watched Loose Women.
Don't watch soaps, apart from Doctors. I love Doctors.
I May Destroy You was tedious and self-absorbed and I just did not get it.
HIGNFY is not the same without Angus Deayton.
I like GBBO but think the 'comedians" are irritating and not necessary.

IntermittentParps · 12/10/2020 09:09

Thought of something else: at the end of Sex and the City, Carrie was pathetic when she went to Paris with the artist guy. Moping in her expensive hotel room, telling her friends there was nothing left to do because she'd been to 'all the museums twice' (don't believe you mate). Wasn't she a writer? Couldn't she use the lovely hotel and the peace and quiet to do some work?

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 12/10/2020 10:18

I thought that was the point Parps, she gave up her writing job, her NYC life, friends and apartment to depend on a man for money and amusement and she was miserable and pathetic. Then she decided to leave and found her Carrie necklace and got her old self back.

IntermittentParps · 12/10/2020 11:43

But why did she need to depend on a man for money and amusement? Anyone with any nous can entertain themselves in Paris. And she COULD have carried on writing, made friends etc. She had a chance to make friends in fact, when she came across the bookshop with the copies of her book in it and the owner invited her to a soiree; IIRC she went to her man's (can't remember his name) art do instead.

To me it felt like she skulked back to NYC having not put in any effort to get on in Paris (the man and his neglect of her notwithstanding, obviously; I don't deny her experience in that way was miserable).

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 12/10/2020 12:34

Oh I agree but it was as if by being with Alexander/leaving nyc she gave up the part of herself that would have allowed her to do all those things. I’m not saying it’s particularly well written just that’s what I though they were trying to depict - to set up the whole back with Big/the real Carrie back in nyc ending.

IntermittentParps · 12/10/2020 13:47

Alexander, that was his name!

Yes, sure, that was what they were after –she was basically lost outside of NYC and her friends, and was neglected by him. I just think it was a depiction of a woman as weak and helpless, which I thought SATC was meant to stand against.

Iheardarumour · 12/10/2020 13:54

Most TV offerings on terrestrial and Sky are shit. With exception to early GoT, the repair shop and anything Mary Berry and Lucy Worsley presents.

ppeatfruit · 12/10/2020 15:19

Friends is shit (I've tried to watch it).
Same as GOT
Mrs B's boys is one of the most offensive programmes I've seen.
ALL TV soaps are pathetic, cliche ridden, badly acted\the actors are so over made up and also are walking adverts for plastic surgeons, wig makers etc etc....... badly directed and written . Effin miserable too. Grin

ppeatfruit · 12/10/2020 15:24

Oh and the mostly American Christmas films are unbelievably bad , there are now 2 EVERY DAY!!!!! They started in August Ffucksake Shock

Plus the bleedin Cowboy films.

lynsey91 · 12/10/2020 18:18

Suranne Jones cannot act to save her life and no way does she deserve the awards she has won.

I like celebrity gogglebox and find it funny, especially Martin Kemp and his son but the ordinary people one is absolutely awful and all the people in it are so annoying.

I can't stand Holly and Phil or Lorraine Kelly or Alison Hammond or Amanda Holden.
