Looks good - reminds me of 5 bedrooms

Good cast

Alison Steadman and Peter Davison star as couple Gail and henry who live in a big house but divide it into flats when their children leave gone

She meets a school friend from years ago who is suprised gail hasn’t done more with her life then ‘be a mum’

And now she wants to do stuff at 70

Also staring Adrian lester (hustle)

Plus belle left her cheating hubby Neil and moved into a flat in the house

I was looking forward to this but it's not very good. None of the characters are likeable and any drama that manages to make Alison Steadman look like a bad actress must be badly written.

It's just really pissing me off that Hannah (I think it's Hannah?) and baby's dad aren't communicating and aren't getting together. That's what's annoying me most here. And Hannah's fiance is just a dick

Hopefully they will get back together

And she won’t marry the other bloke in 2 days

I don't even care any more. Hannah is too stupid to deserve a happy ending. It's really annoyed me too!

burglarbettybaby · 25/10/2020 14:00

It's hard to believe hannah is getting married to someone months after getting pregnant to another man. Fiance is horrible. Hope she sees sense. I love a Alison in the series.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/10/2020 14:28

Yes very quick

I’m assuming jealousy of man and he thinks marriage will make him the dad

I'm really enjoying this. I'm trying to think of what to watch when it's finished - can anyone think of anything similar?

unique1986 · 25/10/2020 22:24

Mrs Wilson is back on iplayer in case anyone missed it 2 years ago.
Bit quirky but Trigonometry was very good character drama.

Twospaniels · 27/10/2020 12:22

What has this got to do with Doctor Foster? I can’t recall any of these people in that.
If there is a connection then please enlighten me 😄

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/10/2020 13:37

Belle was dark haired and dr f neighbour

Think she /dr f may have slept with belle hubby

Connections to Doctor Foster.

Well I watched last night hoping that Gail would be off enjoying her freedom and she is back. Not only back but her horrible husband and children effectively, without laughing out loud, denied her the right to be who she is. Just loathsome people. I think the daughter is sort of understanding, but still thinks her mother should sacrifice herself to her bullying husband.

But I think maybe this is what this series is about. Families who make unrealistic demands, not even demands, assumptions about how members of the family should exist to enable them to carry on their selfish life style.

And Belle is the prime example of this. Dumped by a cheating husband, made to take responsibility for her self indulgent spoilt sister, and her sulky its all about me niece. No wonder she started drinking again.

And then being further made to be the wicked witch by being leant on by the deluded widower.

The whole thing is like a marketing campaign to warn people against relationships and families!

BitOfFun · 29/10/2020 00:05

I am so with you, stumbledin.

purpleme12 · 29/10/2020 10:13

Yes
I found myself thinking it was a strange relationship the sisters had?
I can't believe it took Gail this long to realise what her husband is like as well

stumbledin · 29/10/2020 14:21

BitOfFun - yeah!! Soooooooangry for her Angry

purpleme - I think it is a sort of example of coercive control - she just sort slowly slipped away from who she was - but meeting and talking with the old friend sort of shocked her into recognition. Sad

LadyEloise · 29/10/2020 23:44

What happened on this week's episode please. My recorder acted up Angry and failed to record. Grrrr

purpleme12 · 29/10/2020 23:50

Gail came back cos she felt guilty but was still her new found person.
But then her children made her feel guilty for 'not putting their dad first' and so at the end it was like they both reverted to the people they have been throughout the whole relationship. Him making fun of her and her not saying anything

purpleme12 · 29/10/2020 23:51

Evie's split up with his girlfriend and is now moving to New York

purpleme12 · 29/10/2020 23:52

And the teenage girl's mum is out of hospital and has come to stay with Belle and the teenage girl isn't happy that she's there

BackforGood · 29/10/2020 23:56

Ooh, just finished watching this week's episode, and then came across this thread.
I'm really enjoying the series.
Lots of different storylines going on at once, but all based on people's lives that could easily be people you knew.
Some great casting.
At the end of the birthday parry, I felt the daughter was definitely understanding 'Gail'.

LadyEloise · 30/10/2020 00:02

Thank you @purpleme12

LadyEloise · 30/10/2020 00:03

Who was the man Gail was with at the end of last week's episode?

SaltandPepperIt · 30/10/2020 00:20

He was someone she met for a couple of dates and they were thinking of setting up a record shop @LadyEloise

The guy playing Andy's dad in last week's episode - MUST have been the actor's dad in real life! Spitting images of each other. Have googled but I cant find it out

LadyEloise · 30/10/2020 00:45

Thank you

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/11/2020 22:18

So will she marry him or not

I hope not

Plus will sexy Adrian lester find out the truth of wife

Or did belle tell him in her pjs
