Looks good - reminds me of 5 bedrooms

Good cast

Alison Steadman and Peter Davison star as couple Gail and henry who live in a big house but divide it into flats when their children leave gone

She meets a school friend from years ago who is suprised gail hasn’t done more with her life then ‘be a mum’

And now she wants to do stuff at 70

Also staring Adrian lester (hustle)

Plus belle left her cheating hubby Neil and moved into a flat in the house

I liked and I think it will get better now they have introduced all the main characters and set up each story.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/09/2020 09:21

@lazymum99

And I loved it but will binge on iPlayer so I will have to leave this thread. No self discipline. Once I can download the lot I can’t stop!
Binge but don’t mention each episode till happens :)

@lazymum99

He showed her a Written report from the doctor so he can’t be lying surely
Ah, so he did
southeastdweller · 30/09/2020 13:39

I enjoyed it, it was nothing too demanding and there were some really good scenes like with Belle and her sister.

I get really distracted when adults are playing mid-teens and think it's lazy casting so I can't take the niece story seriously. Just googled the actress playing the niece and what a surprise - she's almost 22.

I think Henry faked the Doctor's report.

The80sweregreat · 30/09/2020 17:22

I saw episode one today.
I feel sorry for Gail , as she is now so conflicted about staying with Henry who has obviously taken her for grated over the years.
It is a bit dull at times , so I am hoping it might cheer up as it goes on. Andy would make a great Dad.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/09/2020 17:49

I don’t think he was lying. Said 6mths most and passed her the letter

I don't think Henry is lying but it feels odd ..might be something weird going on there.

purpleme12 · 01/10/2020 00:10

Well there's always the possibility he'll love longer than 6 months anyway...

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/10/2020 19:01

Oh sure he will live longer then 6mths

First episode watched!! 😳

sanityisamyth · 01/10/2020 19:37

Started watching it today. It had a doctor foster vibe about it, which became even more pronounced when Neil Baker turned up as an ex of Victoria Hamilton's!! Absolutely loving it!!

Lolaloveslemonade · 01/10/2020 20:51

Just looked up Saira Choudhry as I had no idea who she was (haven’t watched Corrie or No Offence).
She was SO beautiful before she messed around with her mouth.

Hotelhelp · 01/10/2020 21:09

It’s a spin off of Dr Foster is it not?

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/10/2020 22:45

Yes belle was the neighbour but with dark hair then

As she has revenged herself after divorce

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 01/10/2020 22:45

Or even reinvented 😂😂

Hotelhelp · 02/10/2020 08:57

I’ve not actually seen Dr Foster, just read it was a spin off. I’m enjoying it anyway even though I’ve not seen it. We watched 2 last night and I’ll probably manage another couple tonight.

stumbledin · 02/10/2020 14:27

There is another thread for the binge watchers! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/telly_addicts/4033296-Life-BBC1

I watched the first episode more out of sort of duty to BBC1 9pm slot.

Wasn't going to bother to continue but got so cross about Alison Steadman's character was being treated by not just horrible husband but loathsome children I stuck with it, thinking she was going to leave and start a older lesbian rock group with her school friend.

But now that "duty" has trapped her into staying home not sure I can endure the situation she is now in.

Not particularly interested in any of the other characters, and as someone who watched Dr Foster I cant work out how it is a spin off.

Also keep getting distracted because even though it is quite a big house it seems from the size of the flats to be some sort of tardis, nearly got out a sheet of paper to do floor plans!

sanityisamyth · 04/10/2020 22:49

@Blondeshavemorefun she was Anna in Doctor Foster, and Belle in Life so I presume her full name is Annabelle and she's just chosen the other end as the nickname now!

purpleme12 · 04/10/2020 22:51

The sister who's been sectioned what has she been in before? What's the actress' name?

klippya · 05/10/2020 07:20

I'm pretty sure the house is the same house as the Gran's in Years and Years

It's not a spin off, this is just written by the same person.

lazymum99 · 05/10/2020 16:49

It is a spin off. It will become clearer later as new characters are introduced. Belle is a character from Dr Foster as said by a PP above.
I feel very stupid not to have realised her name must be Annabel!!

The80sweregreat · 05/10/2020 18:31

The one who plays Belle's ex is very nice. Not my type usually and I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole in real life either, but he has a certain something looks wise. I vaguely remember him in Dr Foster.
Too much of a womanizer though.
Andy is also very sweet but as I could be his mum I'll have to hope he pops up in something else ( or maybe a 'shoe in ' for Eastenders !) I can see him as someone's brother in that.
So many good looking people in this.
I think it was part of the audition to be good looking / attractive!
