'I'm really enjoying this series, although I don't think 'enjoying' is the right word.'

I know what you mean! He is SUCH a horrible character. He reminds me so much of Fred West in Appropriate Adult - talking about sickening crimes with total ease, messing with people's heads and stringing them along, manipulating people being as easy as breathing.... it really gets under your skin

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 16/09/2020 17:16

I really like how they've avoided using gore to make a point. The tiny glimpses of the victims are more shocking and moving for it.

Re Nilsen's accent: he was half Norwegian and had been partly brought up by his Norwegian father, which might have come through in his voice.

Hearwego · 16/09/2020 17:20

If you go onto YouTube you can see interviews with DN. Tennants accent is pretty good.

Animum2 · 16/09/2020 20:23

I've seen the 1st episode and through it was very good and David as always is amazing Star

Toddlerteaplease · 16/09/2020 21:09

He just gets more and more chilling.

HeIenaDove · 16/09/2020 21:29

The reason the death penalty was got rid of is because of the connection to the John Christie case which i mentioned upthread

The wrongful conviction and execution of Timothy Evans

Puppy72 · 16/09/2020 21:30

Everywhere must've been so smokey back in the day.. And everyone must've reeked of cigarette smoke!!

HeIenaDove · 16/09/2020 21:33

Nilsons job at the Job Centre would have given him knowledge about vulnerable clients ............those who were homeless or in hostels.

Mrsjayy · 16/09/2020 21:34

Everywhere was smokey back then, I think they are over egging the fags tbh its becoming a joke in our house Grin

HeIenaDove · 16/09/2020 21:35

Glaringly obvious that Carl Stotter had/has PTSD.

Mrsjayy · 16/09/2020 21:35

Daniel May is a great actor isn't he?

Spaghettio · 16/09/2020 21:36

Does anyone know the name of the actor that is playing the defence barrister? I need to know what I know him from......

Spaghettio · 16/09/2020 21:37

Everyone must have stunk of smoke.....

Spaghettio · 16/09/2020 21:37

Sorry. Overuse of ellipses. Grin

HeIenaDove · 16/09/2020 21:38

Good God the homophobia in the courtroom. Poor Carl.

Heptember · 16/09/2020 21:39

And ours.

We keep thinking that in the next scene there'll be a fag between each finger. Both hands grin]

Toddlerteaplease · 16/09/2020 21:42

@Spaghettio he was in an episode of Poirot. And possibly the Kings speech.

ExclamationPerfume · 16/09/2020 21:45

It's Pip Torrens.

Puppy72 · 16/09/2020 21:45

Imagine being on the jury for this

Spaghettio · 16/09/2020 21:46

I keep trying to find him on IMDB but he's not appearing in the cast list of things i think he's in! I'm sure you're right about the Kings Speech or maybe The Crown.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 16/09/2020 21:47

He was in Poldark as well I think

dayknight19 · 16/09/2020 21:47

Started watching it last night. Very grim but good.
More grim as we live two streets up from 23 Cranley Gardens where this took place. A beautiful street otherwise

Spaghettio · 16/09/2020 21:48

PIP TORRENS! I found him. He's been in bloody everything.

ageingdisgracefully · 16/09/2020 21:49

Yes Pip Torrens is always is stuff. He was Lascelles in the Crown.

Heptember · 16/09/2020 21:51

Pip Torrens is a great character actor with a list of roles as long as your bloody arm. Also looks least like a 'Pip' as it's possible to, I would say Grin
