We have been following Our Girl since 2014 and although there are to be no further series, we revisit time and time again to discuss. As an alternative, we are also watching the 1990s series of Soldier Soldier.

I know this is setting the scene but it does feel a bit long and drawn out.

Dave is thoroughly obnoxious. Does make you wonder why Belinda didn't throw him out.

Dave is so much nicer in the main series - if you can use the word "nice". He does at least try to change.

She decides to have the tattoo with Artan's name on it altered.

Ah, the army recruitment officer was called Graham in Emmerdale. He was the husband of a doctor in Holby City too I think.

Molly's been invited to selection weekend at the army. Gosh, she's brave to make such a dramatic choice.

We see so little of Katie, her basic training pal, but she appears so much in the fanfics!

Yes, it's a shame that Molly didn't have a female friend in the real series, apart from Jackie but that was so brief.

I'd never get through selection, because the officers and NCO's would drive me mad - I'd never say anything but I'd hate it.

So stern Scottish man must see something in Molly and realise her attitude is hiding something.

She delivers a really powerful description of herself and her life.

I would hate to be talked to as they seem to talk to the recruits. I'm sure I would rebel.

Molly talks about her home life in front of the class. We get a real insight into why she would want to join the army.

The officer is Lucy Briers (always think of her as Mary Bennet).
