I couldn't see a thread on this so apologies if there was one and I missed it.

Apparently this will be on before the end of the year, filming has just finished

DD made bread today Grin

This you might think isn't much cause for celebration, but she is off school following a MH breakdown and this is the first cooking she has felt up to doing since about July. One of the many, many things she is anxious about is touching food, so kneading the bread is great.

Thank you GBBO.

thecatsthecats · 07/10/2020 18:13

@dreamingbohemian

My favourite bit was Noel saying: Listen Paul Hollywood, no one under 40 eats bread anymore Smile

Lottie reminds me a lot of Natalie Dormer

Nah, she's a dead spit for Sarah Alexander. Even down to the voice.
Crinkle77 · 07/10/2020 18:53

Mark is only 51?

iklboo · 07/10/2020 19:05

@TeenPlusTwenties - that's wonderful Thanks

MrsKingfisher · 07/10/2020 20:17

I just don't think any of these bakers are as good as previous years, there seems to be something lacking I don't know if it's the lockdown bubble situation but none of them seem that happy.

lynsey91 · 07/10/2020 20:42

@Crinkle77

Mark is only 51?
I was amazed that Linda is only 61
awaynboilyurheid · 07/10/2020 20:48

Think Matt Lucas is hilarious on GBBO, Like somone else up thread said I loved the, ready steady go ... to the shops line, as I ‘m no baker, that’s exactly what I would actually do!
This week him singing now go walk out the door I will survive song, v funny!
I Like Noel and he’s kind to the contestants but don’t find him funny. Think at times Prue is bit subservient to Paul, Mary would disagree with him if she felt it was needed but Prue tends to just echo what he says. I do love her very colourful outfits, she’s very stylish.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 07/10/2020 20:56

I do love her very colourful outfits, she’s very stylish.

Same here - I don't like Prue, but Love her clothes and specs.

CaptainMyCaptain · 07/10/2020 21:28

I want to be like Prue when I'm her age.

Blavatskyite · 07/10/2020 22:02

I think it must be very different to other years, when you don’t go home Mon-Fri and return to normal life for five days before coming back to the tent, but are stuck there 24/7 with the other contestants and only two days between rounds. I think it must feel quite intense and claustrophobic, and might explain the more muted mood?
Redwolf1 · 08/10/2020 09:38

Gosh I didnt know there was only two days inbetween rounds. That is intense. No down time and little time to practice

I really like Prue but I can see she does echo paul. God I fancy paul more and more each season

ppeatfruit · 08/10/2020 09:42

Ref. Pru and Paul's importance . She is always on Paul's side away from the camera when judging so her comments seem less obvious\important. I've noticed she also makes it her duty to say something positive about ALL the bakes. I like her a lot.

Mak said how kind she is.

Rowan commenting about the Harvest Festival "sheaves of wheat" show stoppers usually being made with solid

bread quite correct. He had to go but he's fun. I like the Irish Mark a lot. So sweet that Marc got star baker cried.

MaggieFS · 08/10/2020 10:28

Yes I loved that comment from Rowan about what the harvest breads are normally like Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 08/10/2020 12:31

God I fancy paul more and more each season

You want to get your hormone levels checked Redwolf. There's an oestrogen overload there IMO, and it will do you no need of harm.

CaptainMyCaptain · 08/10/2020 14:21

God I fancy paul more and more each season

Vom!

Sertchgi123 · 08/10/2020 15:32

God I fancy paul more and more each season

I can kind of see why, as he's physically quite attractive. He has lovely eyes. Sadly, his personality and history, let him down IMHO.

IntermittentParps · 08/10/2020 15:36

God I fancy paul more and more each season

I will say, he seems to have lost weight this series and looks better for it.
That's as far as I'll go though.

ppeatfruit · 09/10/2020 09:05

Yes Sertchgi I agree about Paul. (he may have had some work done, just a little 'freshener' ) Grin

I'm glad that Hermine got a handshake for her obviously tasty soda breads he explained that they wanted something different and she had fulfilled the remit. She also got an elbow touch from Prue!

WhatWillSantaBring · 09/10/2020 09:57

I've got a proper crush on Paul this season too... wishing I'd been locked in a hotel with him for six weeks ESPECIALLY with his reputation Grin "me, here, in a luxury hotel for six weeks with a hormonal middle aged woman who likes baking? With my reputation???"

TruffleShuffles · 09/10/2020 10:25

I have to say I’m really enjoying Matt and Noel together, their sense of humour seems much more aligned than Sandi and Noels and that’s nothing against Sandi as I thought her and Noel did a good job too.

The sketches and intros just seem more natural and they genuinely seem to find each other funny so it just flows better. Matt is also brilliant with the contestants, his warm nature works well with Noels more quirky interactions.

CherryValanc · 09/10/2020 12:50

I'm not in with the Matt love. Thier jokes feel just the same scripted ones as Noel's and Sandi's did.

Though he is good with the contestants that I can't deny. As was Sandi. I think Sandi and Matt would be great combination. Both feel genuine in their interest in people and what they are making. Noel just doesn't.

Sapiophile · 09/10/2020 13:38

My eight year old asked last week (he likes to bake but is fairly new to GBBO because of the whole tiresome phenomenon of bedtime) why they need the presenters, and actually it's a fair point. Would much be lost if there was a generic announcement of how much time there was left in each challenge, if the judges announced and explained what each bake was, and if we only saw the judges circulating among the bakers, or the questions were asked by someone behind the camera?

At duller moments, I find myself fascinated by the fact that each contestant has their own camera person, apparently, so that, early on in each season, an awful lot of people have to nip out of the tent to make it look as if there's no one but the bakers and the presenters inside for wide shots.

And actually, come to think of it, the editing must be pretty involved, too, if they have to avoid getting Hermine's cameraperson in the background in a shot of, say, Lottie...?

ppeatfruit · 09/10/2020 14:45

.......their sense of humour seems much more aligned than Sandi and Noels

Yes as do their actual heights/ heads Grin

ppeatfruit · 09/10/2020 14:50

Sapiophile But the presenters are there to add 'human' interest and sympathy, plus humour, to help carry the show stoppers etc. . It's what makes it such an enjoyable programme IMO. I don't watch the really serious MasterChef type programmes, they're too heavy much if you see what I mean.

IntermittentParps · 09/10/2020 14:59

I agree with ppeat, they're like a 'bridge' between the bakers and judges. They also seem to offer genuine moral support.
