Can't wait to see if CV is wearing joggers...

Aaargh - just read my post back. Should say that I don't think anyone who does choose to make a direct link between parenting method and emotional stability is either naive or desperate!

MrsSeanSlater · 02/10/2007 22:43

I went out for a birthday meal when DS1 was three weeks old but I left plenty of expressed breast milk and he was in the loving care of his doting grandmother, who let him sleep on her chest all evening and enjoyed every second.

Bewilderbeast · 02/10/2007 22:44

why have children if you're not going to go near it grrrr bloody woman is making me furious

tcmummy · 02/10/2007 22:44

What's neurotic attachment????

hunkermunker · 02/10/2007 22:45

It's a chain of negative emotion, the CV method, IMO.

You ignore the baby. It's being "manipulative".

You punish the child. It's being "naughty".

I loathe the "give an inch, they'll take a mile" some sneering adults do at children.

More love, more tolerance, more acceptance, more laughter - better world, imo.

LittleBella · 02/10/2007 22:46

Ooh, Hunker, have you got a link?

hertsnessex · 02/10/2007 22:48

does anyone know when this is repeated as my sky+ didnt record it.........

n1cky1980 · 02/10/2007 22:48

just submitted my complaint to Ofcom and feel much better after my rant.

Snaf · 02/10/2007 22:48

Absolutely, hunker.

Plus, a little-reported side effect of the CV method is that too much exposure to it leaves you looking like the last satsuma in the bowl.

Orange, shrivelled and very, very bitter.

NicknameDeletedByMn · 02/10/2007 22:49

n1cky feels good doesnt it???

controlfreaky2 · 02/10/2007 22:50

have sent ranting complaint to ofcom..... and relax.

SleepIsForTheWeak · 02/10/2007 22:50

LOL, snaf!!!

Piffle · 02/10/2007 22:51

the worst thing for me is she does it with no affection, not for the parents nor for their family (that grandmother desp wanted to cradle the twins ) and starchy lapels (I would say face but libels ya know) shaking her head

Not even feeling sorry for the poor bloody babies what about the poor mothers... no bloody gazing at baby
it's the only thing that keeps you from hating getting up every fart, burp wriggle and twist 10 x a night when they're that little.
one crosseyed gaze, one little contented sigh on your neck their warm newborn smell on your nose.
That's what makes it worthwhile FFS

The mothers are being short changed let alone the babies IMO

NappiesLaGore · 02/10/2007 22:51

i found that really really sad and quite shocking really.
i guess common sense really is anything but, eh?
she shouldnt be allowed. i mean really, that CV woman should not be allowed to practice such unhealthy, outdated, damaging and dangerous claptrap. is there not some law shes breaking?

n1cky1980 · 02/10/2007 22:52

Yup- at least I have ranted my views to them. No program has ever had that effect on me before!! I suppose it brings back the early, confusing days of motherhood when you get given so much cr*p advice!! (most of whoch I ignored thankfully lol)

drosophila · 02/10/2007 22:52

I'm surprised the Spock woman and the Azazon tribe woman don't agree more.

It makes me realise that lots of people (usually women) have very stron opinions on how to bring up baby.

NappiesLaGore · 02/10/2007 22:53

agree mothers are horribly shortchanged.
how can anyone listen to a woman who winces with any contact with a baby? calles them 'it' and refuses them any affection? 'it will think its boss' what?? a newborn with such complicated thought processes? what? its madness.

drosophila · 02/10/2007 22:53

Nappies I wondered that I guess she could be reported for noise pollution but it would depend on local council.

Piffle · 02/10/2007 22:56

I typed as my demand fed, constantly cradled, eye contacted fully breastfed at every whimper 6 mth old son sleeps upstairs, at his choice.... through the night from 10-7 too...
I reckon he feels so secure as he is sling carried a lot from birth and all his needs have bene met easily... what's he got to worry about?

KristinaM · 02/10/2007 22:58

my Dh suggested that CV shoudl be prosecuted under Health and Safety legislation, as she is promoting pratices known to be harmful to children

IMO she does come across as someone with a lot of "issues"

My DS is 11 months now and i'd love to go back to the newborn stage with him again. (Cuddles in bed...snuggling up...gazing adoringly at him... sigh!). Before these women know it- their babies will be lively toddlers. Bring back the babymoon!!

tcmummy · 02/10/2007 23:00

She really dehumanizes the baby doesn't she?
