Couldn't see a new thread so started this one. So we're now into a show of two halves, edited together - pre and post lockdown! Who's shouting "before" "after" at each scene?

OP posts:

Surely it would have been on Abby’s medical record that she was an addict? She’ll have been admitted previously for the overdose she took.

Spidey66 · 21/08/2020 19:58

Oh and lo and behold raiding the drug trolley......

nildesparandum · 21/08/2020 20:32

Anything is possible in a soap opera.Even characters brought back from the dead. That one has not happened in Corrie....yet.

Honeyroar · 21/08/2020 20:44

They guard those drug trolleys like gold bullion. Why was Peter just wandering about the hospital too?

JemimaTab · 21/08/2020 20:53

Gary was killed off (in Ukraine?) and then turned up. Does that count?
It was a ridiculous storyline. He had some kind of security job out there for about 5 minutes.

PoloNeckKnickers · 21/08/2020 21:40

Pity he couldn't have gone back to Ukraine for his honeymoon.

nildesparandum · 21/08/2020 22:35

I remember Gay and the Ukraine. Was supposed to have been killed then it was forgotten about.
Abby was lying on her fractured arm-ouch! The nurse who came in with the drug trolley then was called to help in the emergency would have pulled the trolley into the bedside of the emergency.I am a retired nurse and an open drug trolley is NEVER left unattended.Even when locked in the treatment room it is chained and locked to the wall.
Another medical/ hospital story very badly researched.
Also when I worked in hospitals, morphine which is a controlled drug, is kept in a separate, locked cupboard, and never found amongst the regular uncontrolled drugs in the trolley. It is the same in a pharmacy, if you are prescribed it at home, the pharmacist gets it out of a special locked cupboard in the dispensary and double checks it before it is handed to you.

PennyRoyal · 21/08/2020 22:46

The spying on/laying in wait for Todd scenes were cringe worthy. Shite.

OP posts:
RAOK · 21/08/2020 23:22

Corrie is rubbish at the moment. I loved the Yasmeen/Geoff storyline but couldn’t care less about Todd etc. I’ve only just realised Gemma and Paul are twins. The whole quads thing is ridiculous and so implausible. All of the coronavirus references are just too contrived. I might take a break from watching.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 21/08/2020 23:38

Agree 100% that the medication trolley would never have been left like that!
I used to work in MH unit. I was doing hourly obs one night shift and found a patient dead. I went downstairs to get the nurse in charge and she locked the meds cabinet, secured it to the wall and then locked the clinic room. Only when that was done did she come upstairs. No nurse who valued their job would leave a trolley unlocked!!!

DipSwimSwoosh · 22/08/2020 00:04

I'm sure there have been more resurrections. Phelan from the water? Richard Hillman possibly?

Brashopper · 22/08/2020 00:19

The thing about Gemma and Paul being twins: it was mentioned in a programme a while ago that their full names are related to classical twins. I think Gemma is Gemini and Paul might be Pollux?

It didn’t seem very likely that Bernie would think like that.

Smallsteps88 · 22/08/2020 00:33

Seb needs to go. All he does is mope around by himself huffing and puffing about Abby being crap. He has no friends. He reminds of Todd Carty who played mark fowler in eastenders. I never liked him either. Seb’s a terrible dresser too. Cant stand him.

FitbitMum · 22/08/2020 00:47

Agreed Seb needs to go. I liked his storyline helping Alina from the traffickers in the nail salon. I liked them as a couple. But if they're not gonna shack up together he's a bit pointless at the moment

What is getting me about Corrie at the moment is... it's getting sloppy. You on this thread have told us exactly what it's like with regard to drugs trolleys and one phone call and the script writers could've found out. It's almost like...because of Covid, they can't be bothered with the detail any more.

It was a boring episode last night. Gemma ought to make the most of her time on the cobbles because it's only going to be so long before those quads are going to have to show their faces! They've been up in that bedroom for about 3 months now! And unless they are going to stick a couple of pillows into pushchairs, it's going to look mighty odd if we don't see them soon!

Plus... Gemma is sat downstairs in the house and you cannot tell me there would not be a baby crying when there are four of the little darlings!

SmellsLikeFeet · 22/08/2020 08:48

Why would they allow Abby to see her children? They have been adopted not fostered
They haven't asked to see her either
Her wishes wouldn't count

Roussette · 22/08/2020 08:51

I went to a NDN for drinks last night and watched on catch up when I got home after drinking too much wine!

Did I hear Peter say, as he came on the ward... 'put it back' to Abby. Had he seen her take the drugs? Or did I imagine it ?

tryingharder92 · 22/08/2020 09:18

Back to Gemma... wasn't it the other on (Imogen?) who was mean to Gemma, I though Vanessa had been much nicer to her?

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 22/08/2020 09:22

Gemma is so annoying and rubbish and the storyline with the quads is ridiculous. She has far too much time to sit around with her gob open. In reality, even with only one baby, she'd be rushed off her feet. 4 babies, there's no way she'd be even thinking of planning a party for someone else.

Yes Peter saw Abi take the drugs.

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 22/08/2020 09:27

And don't get me started on Daniel with the prostitute! She's not even a likeable character so I really hope there isn't a romance planned, the whole thing is weird!

Honeyroar · 22/08/2020 09:30

Yes someone buy Daniel a blow up doll and put the cardi on it! Or bring back Bethany.

Roussette · 22/08/2020 09:31

Oh heck yes!

I laughed at the whole ridiculous scenario. Chicken and mushroom pie and mash, but please put the cardi on first!

It's getting ridiculous

woodhill · 22/08/2020 10:06

Exactly, and they've gone to the kiddy cupboard now. They would be constantly waking and she'd never have a minute.

Billy was so irritating last night. He was really unpleasant and stroppy and unkind to the girl. He's meant to be a vicar but he doesn't seem to have any time for his flock.

There is still contact in some circumstances with birth family. I know from personal experience that the birth family can make requests which the social workers put to the adoptive parents to decide. I have enjoyed (possibly the wrong word) the portrayal of Abbies story as it has told the other side of the story quite well, made me think anyway 🙂 That drugs trolley bit was ridiculous though, with her history they wouldn't just be offering her pain relief and the morphine wouldn't just be lying in an unlocked trolley!
zigzagbetty · 22/08/2020 10:55

Peter did see and say put it back, hopefully saint Peter will come to her rescue!
