I am a LoD fanatic. Have tried Happy Valley (it was good but didn’t like the cast as much and switched off in season 2). Spooks - episode 2 traumatised me and haven’t watched any more. Also find it hard to watch it as it’s 18 years old, no idea why!! Loved The Nest too. Maybe I’m obsessed with Martin Compston?? Anyway... LoD fans... is there anything as good out there?

I work in AC at police so i can't watch LoS as it's ridiculous! Although it has given a lot of street cred to my job when people find out what I do! GrinGrin I enjoyed Luther , and I enjoyed Top Boy - too boy is about London street gang so not police drama but gritty.. like seeing the other side

PuppyMonkey · 03/05/2020 12:03

I thought LOD went totally downhill the last couple of series. Just too ridiculous.

I like The Missing better - second series particularly.

Luther is also laughably ridiculous imho.

The night of
Scandal
The tunnel

DarkDarkNight · 04/05/2020 00:19

The Wire is a good shout for a really intricate drama you have to pay attention too. Fantastic show.

The Fall if you haven’t seen it.

BoreOfWhabylon · 04/05/2020 00:57

Something entirely different - more subtle, more nuanced, much funnier, completely, devastatingly perfect: Detectorists.

Couldn't agree more. My favourite TV series ever.

Something else v v good (and a bit different) is Messiah on Netflix. Only one series so far.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/05/2020 08:09

We've been watching In the Dark this weekend and that's quite good too

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 04/05/2020 08:26

Two I'd forgotten about:

MotherFatherSon - Helen McCrory mesmerising in some of the must beautiful clothes I've ever seen on TV. Plus some spot-on casting (if you ignore Richard Gere). Nicely grown-up story. Well worth anyone's time.

The Honourable Woman - Maggie Gyllenhaal hypnotising in endless enviable outfits. Wonderful cast. Pretty much a mash-up of the series above and Spooks. Addictive, heart-stopping viewing.

ReadyForActionRyderSir · 07/05/2020 23:13

Following as have just ( like in the last ten ministers) finished series 5 of LoD😄
Who do we think the fourth member is?! Is H H?!

ReadyForActionRyderSir · 07/05/2020 23:18

Ten minutes....

slinkysaluki · 08/05/2020 19:35

Watched drama series called Blood on my5. Its set in Ireland, Adrian Dunbar is in it. Very good, worth a watch

slinkysaluki · 08/05/2020 19:36

Sorry, currently watching Damages with Glenn Close, good so far

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/05/2020 22:16

Code 404 - has a couple of the Line of Duty cast
The Armed Police Officer from Series 3 and the UnderCover Officer from Series 5 .

Anoisagusaris · 08/05/2020 22:24

I agree with lots of the above suggestions and would add;

Gomorrah - Italian
River
Top of the Lake
Cocaine Coast - Spanish

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 09/05/2020 11:55

I have discovered The Tunnel and it is by far the best drama I have watched in a long time.

Gangs of London was good although I found some of the violence hard to take and normally that doesn’t bother me at all.

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 09/05/2020 15:04

Hmph. Have just started Westworld.

Those of you who failed to tell me about this ... phenomenon - well, all I can say is that you are utter meanies. Angry

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 09/05/2020 15:27

The first series of Westworld is amazing after that it jumps the shark spectacularly.

I've just started watching The Shield which is ace.

Martin Compton is in a series called Traces on one of the Sky channels, I think it might be Drama or Alibi which I enjoyed.

alphaechokiwi · 09/05/2020 16:23

Giri / Haji is the best thing I've seen in ages. Best thing I've seen in ages. The title and premise put me off it initially, but I'm so glad I gave it a chance.
I liked The Fall, there were some plot holes and it was dragged out a bit too long, but it was still good, and I imagine if you like LOD, you'll like this.
Unforgotten is also a good police drama and the acting is excellent.

RhubarbTea · 09/05/2020 20:30

Killing Eve series 1 on BBC
and Unbelievable on Netflix both very good. But no nothing else really compares.

RhubarbTea · 09/05/2020 20:33

Oh! And Bodyguard on Netflix is fab as well Smile

CiderWithRosy · 09/05/2020 22:47

Another vote for Blood on My5. Seasons 1& 2. Just finished watching. Excellent.

DKanin · 14/05/2020 23:37

Just came back to say I've just watched Informer (Bbc) and it was brilliant! Anyone who enjoyed Line of Duty would really like it.

randomer · 15/05/2020 20:37

LOD, early series absolutely brilliant. Wrung out of ideas by the last one.

Engrenages is the only thing close.

DaftSkunk · 15/05/2020 22:18

Cardinal is also good. I think there is a new series starting soon.

barbites · 16/05/2020 23:44

Just watched Thirteen on iPlayer, really good.

firsttimemum79 · 16/05/2020 23:55

No offence is on 4od it's brilliant
