I loved this show last year and was very excited to see a trailer yesterday that seemed to show series 2 was coming soon and was located in the Americas? But Googling it has revealed absolutely nothing! I thought I'd start this thread so that fellow fans have a place to comment when we have more info.

If it is the Americas, it will stop the contestants just copying last year's journeys, although I must admit I think the Europe/Asia route will prove more interesting as there's such a great variation in cultures as you travel east. But I don't know much about South America so looking forward to being wrong, and I'm sure it will be just as exciting as the last series. It'll be the people that make it - loved Darron and Alex from last year and their changing relationship/bond!

I’m really looking forward to this too. I wonder if it will replace “win the wilderness” on Sunday evenings. That only has one episode to go.

snowplop · 26/02/2020 11:27

Ooh thanks for starting a thread. I loved this last year and was hoping they'd do another series. I thought they might do Northern Europe to South Africa. The Americas will be really interesting. Can't wait!

IsabelleSE19 · 26/02/2020 11:44

There's been a celebrity version commissioned too but there's even less information about that. Should be good too but I think part of the appeal of the original was the mix of ordinary people who were on it.

I agree. I started watching the last series because of my love of far-flung places but it was the couples that kept me watching.

IsabelleSE19 · 26/02/2020 15:08

Yes, there were some great looking places like Baku that you never normally see on TV that made me want to go on some obscure city breaks (sadly DC and finances will not permit this at the moment so it's good to get some armchair tourism in!)

It's on Sunday 8th March at 8pm. Really enjoyed the first one so looking forward to it.

Holdingtherope · 27/02/2020 14:09

Ooh excited!

Topseyt · 27/02/2020 14:12

I've been looking forward to this too, as I enjoyed the last series when they raced across land (largely) to Singapore.

It will be interesting to see where they go this time around. My guess is the Americas, but maybe Northern Europe to Africa?

SlayingDragons · 27/02/2020 14:15

Oh brilliant! I never watch TV on at the actual time - only ever on demand or recorded and flick through adverts so would have missed this otherwise.

Loved the last series. DH and I speculated that an ideal route would be Canada/Alaska down to somewhere in South America. Difficulties with tensions in the likes of Honduras, Columbia, Venezuela at the minute though so will be interesting to see how far south they go.

IsabelleSE19 · 27/02/2020 14:46

Thanks for the very exciting update Cocolapew! Can't wait to see the contestants and locations now!

Thanks for the thread OP.

Really enjoyed the last series, South America will be very different and interesting. Can't wait!

JasperRising · 28/02/2020 09:52

I really liked the first series but am a bit worried how well it will work a second time round. Yes it's a new area but these couples will have been able to see what sort of tactics did/didn't work - they're just a bit more prepared than the first teams going into it blind. And cynically I wonder if people will start to play a certain 'type' that seemed popular before - maybe not this time round but if they keep going it might happen.

IsabelleSE19 · 28/02/2020 10:14

Hopefully the fact that there's no public vote for anything will stop anyone playing up to the cameras too much – as far as I know none of last year's contestants have gone on to have any sort of media career?

Just watched the trailer and it does look like they go into some dodgy areas. The Radio Times website says that North America is not included at all, and the teams start in Mexico City and go through South America to the most southerly city in the world in Argentina Ushuaia.

Really enjoyed it last time, hopefully they haven't changed the format.

TheWoodsareDarkandDeep · 28/02/2020 11:31

Looking forward to this.

JasperRising · 28/02/2020 12:09

As this thread seems to have people who like programmes about far flung places... Does anyone remember a programme a few years back where they got a bunch of really good amateur sports people and sent them to different country each week to take part in local events requiring lots of strength/stamina? Think there were a couple of series for men and then a couple of series for women. It was good fun (and was still good the second time round) but can't get the name of it!

StuckBetweenDarknessAndLight · 28/02/2020 12:18

Glad to see it's coming back! I was only talking about it this week.

JuniLoolaPalooza · 28/02/2020 12:34

jasper was that fittest man in the world or something? I remember something similar sounding that was eventually won by a fencer, massively putting an ex marines nose out of joint!

Anyway, I love race across the world!! Cannot wait for a new series and really hope they get some interesting couples again.

IsabelleSE19 · 28/02/2020 14:03

jasper I don't think I know that one although it does sound good. There's something like it on CBBC that DS watches I think, where teams of children go to different places and learn local sports.

Looking forward to this returning!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 28/02/2020 19:59

I'd love it if they did north/south the Americas. Start tip of South America and get all the way up to the northern Canadian coastline

Standrewsschool · 29/02/2020 21:52

Really enjoyed it last year. Hadn’t intended in watching it, but then got hooked by it (a bit like Win the Wilderness). It would fit that slot nicely.

I wondered whether they would reverse the route, and start at the hotel in Singapore.

purpleme12 · 29/02/2020 22:04

I loved this programme

It made me think of Long Way Round

megletthesecond · 01/03/2020 18:47

They've just shown the trailer on CBBC. 13yr old DS is pleased it's back.

MrsWhites · 01/03/2020 19:28

Me and DH loved this last year, really looking forward to it coming back. I was really gutted for the dad and lad duo last year, the change in their relationship was beautiful to watch! All credit to the couple that won though, coming in as a reserve to then win it was huge for them!
