I’ve missed the tennis chat

I’ve been in a bit of a February slump - I’m fed up of the constant wind and rain and I’m missing the tennis.

On the news last night and there was an editor at large - I was trying to explain to DH about the tennis player at large as a sort of secret squirrel figure and he was looking at me as if I was mad!

I really like the RG poster - not sure what the secret messsge is though.

Fizzy I get the same from dh , when I try to explain any of our 'parallel tennis universe' stuff. It makes perfect sense in my head .

Apparently, Stan served 35 ace in his match against Tiafoe in Acapulco. He is playing really well lately, I just hope he can stay fit.

Good win for Dan Evans over Foggy today from a set and a break down. Watched the last two sets back this evening. Foggy was being typically Foggy! Dan went to shake his hand at the end and said something like "well played" and Foggy just turned away. Rude!! It reminds me of Andy calling him out for his behaviour a few months ago.

"Mate, just shut up. You're the same with everyone, Fabio mate" or words to that effect

Went to see Emma this afternoon. Quite enjoyed it. Love Bill Nighy

I don't think Dan and Foggy have played each other recently. Foggy got beaten by Khachanov in Amsterdam, who then lost to Evans, so they nearly did

Didn't realise that about the Cilic / Paire match. Poor Marin! That really won't have done his confidence any good. I couldn't get my head around the fact that Paire is seeded 8 and Cilic is unseeded. He really hasn't had much luck since the Wimbledon final.

I saw the Queens news aswell. I'm sure they've got everything crossed for an appearance from Andy!

Rafa won his first match in Acapulco, so that is a relief . And Kyrgios retired in his match against Humbert- not sure what the story is there.

ooh- apparently Dick is still having wrist problems (he withdrew from Delray Beach because of it). And he was booed off court when he retired from the match last night. To which he responded he did not give a f*ck.

I think it was only a matter of time for Maria, really. And I doubt she will be missed- a sad end really to a career that started brightly (and noisily). Not that I've ever been a fan.

Your support for Dan is admirable. I even started to warm to him the other week, must have been feeling a bit under the weather.

Ok, my optimism knows no bounds- I am pinning my hopes on Djok losing to Karen Hemsworth Khachanov in the next round, so Rafa stands a chance of regaining the number 1 spot (briefly). Just because.

Still looks like a grey M&S t shirt, which gets progressively darker with sweat as a match goes on......
As opposed to Foggy yesterday, who was in Giorgio Armani, daaarlling. Although the shorts looked a bit odd

I haven't seen Dan's match today but in the interview after the Foggy win, Dan said something along the lines of how great it was to play in front of good crowds and how privileged and grateful he felt to play tennis because there are certainly many more worse ways to make a living.
Maybe he's finally learned to be thankful for the talent he has and is grateful for what it can give him when he applies himself.

I doubt Dick ever will have the same self-awareness. Raising money for good causes is all very well, but it hasn't erased the fact that ultimately , he's not box office.
