"she's not freaky tall or strong" Grin

JaneJeffer · 01/02/2020 11:32

Frew Sad

Raahh · 01/02/2020 11:50

I took the opportunity to have a shower. I need to go out really.

But yes- Frew Sad

Raahh · 01/02/2020 11:52

Bethanie's outfits never disappointGrin

JaneJeffer · 01/02/2020 12:11

She's a ray of sunshine.

JaneJeffer · 01/02/2020 12:40

Looks like it's going to be another tiebreak.

JaneJeffer · 01/02/2020 13:01

Oh well

kazzaD66 · 01/02/2020 13:15

That men's final poll Hmm
Definitely the latter!
With all the will in the world, I can't see Dom winning, but I would love to be proved wrong Wink

What on earth happened to Jamie and BMS? Just seen the tie break score!

Let's hope Joe Salisbury has a better result tomorrow.

JaneJeffer · 01/02/2020 13:19

They just ran out of steam and seemed to have resigned themselves to losing.

Nikola Mektic is so cute. He doesn't look 31.

BGD2012 · 01/02/2020 13:52

JaneJeffer. Oh dear they'll print anything to make Roger appear 'greater' than Rafa. I like Roger but I was a bit put off when be wore that tailored/gold embroidered jacket with 5 on after he beat Andy Roddick in that tight final years back. I can imagine the press Djok would have got if he did the same in last years final.

Raahh · 01/02/2020 13:57

Jane I read that and was thoroughly pissed off.

There is nothing big or clever about continuing to play with an injury that may end up getting worse, or injuring something else. And most players know their limits, and will want to look long term, rather than the one match. Whatever is at stake.

But who knows, maybe the 'injury' Roger had wasn't so bad.

We will find out this week- he is scheduled to play in Cape Town against Rafa at the Match for Africa event.

BGD2012 · 01/02/2020 14:07

Nadal has the type of game that is hard on his knees and of course he wants to prolong his career. I also think Nadal is very gracious towards opponents after a loss.

Raahh · 01/02/2020 14:15

BGD exactly- hardcourts and grass are the worst thing for his knees. So if he has to withdraw from something and focus on later tournaments that is the right thing to do.

It won't be a decision he takes lightly.

Raahh · 01/02/2020 14:19

BGD I was desperate for Roddick to win that match! And yes, Rafa is always gracious to his opponents. I'm not convinced Roger always is. He says a lot , without saying much at all. He will make a great politician when he retires Grin.
Djok would have been slaughtered if he's rocked up in some of the things Roger wore at that time. The shoes he wore with his face on were bad enough Grin.

He will make a great politician when he retires Grin.

magimedi · 01/02/2020 15:23

I've always thought Roger was a smug git. (But a beautiful tennis player)

Raahh · 01/02/2020 15:30

magi that is a good description of him. I've never been a fan, but acknowledge his skill.
That monogrammed cardigan was the very essence of pompous and smug. Wonder what he thinks of it now? Grin

BGD2012 · 01/02/2020 16:04

I had a google and it said 15 not 5 (it was when he broke the Sampras GS record). Poor Roddick it must be heart breaking enough without knowing your opponent was smug enough to get a celebratory outfit designed in advance.

Raahh · 01/02/2020 16:16

Yes, it's the advance bit that is the problem, isn't it? Kind of arrogant.

I remember his interview with Sue Barker after he won his 8th Wimbledon. He was wearing a Fe8erer top. Someone made that. In advance.

Raahh · 01/02/2020 16:24

I am all set for a morning of sitting and watching tomorrow, anyway. I do hope Thiem can pull off the win of his career.

PrivateSpidey · 01/02/2020 16:28

Grin I would never get anything like that made because of hubris. It's just tempting fate too much for me. But I guess that doesn't effect Rog.

The thing with that Express article and others like it, is they're just preparing the ground for when Rafa (or Djok, but more likely/sooner Rafa) equals or beats his Slam record, so they can say yes ok but Fed's the GOAT for all these other reasons as well. Hmm

I agree with magi's description too. Beautiful player to watch. The love-in that goes with it - no thanks.

I'm really hoping for Thiem as well. But not too much as I don't want to end up disappointed.

I haven't had a Thiem: Australian Open champion t-shirt made, put it that way Grin

Raahh · 01/02/2020 16:32

Spidey It would have to say something like 'I'm on Dom's Thiem'.

I should trademark that.

Raahh · 01/02/2020 16:36

I just want it to be closer than last year. I've not quite recovered from that match.

PrivateSpidey · 01/02/2020 16:41

I'm on Dom's Thiem
This is gold!! I can't believe he hasn't licensed this!
