I think he will work well with Noel. I hope he is lovely with the bakers, and not just there for self promotion.

I think it's the beginning of the end of gbbo unless the makers get a clue and head back to bbc and reinstate the original team to be honest.

Matt - I'm not a fan, his "comedy" is generally quite offensive, I'm pissed off the presenting/judging team will now be 3/4 Male when most home bakers and I suspect viewers are female. He's not a presenter by trade so doesn't have that skill or experience.

Ewwww, no. I don’t mind him as a comedian, but as a presenter he’ll be too attention-seeking and the editing will reflect that.

I don't mind him but he is too well known, would have loved it to have been a female whose career could have been changed by this like Roisin Conaty or Aisling Bea or another other number of female comedians.

I think it would have been nice to have someone relatively unknown do it. Tbh it used to be a show that DD10 and I watched together regularly and she gave up halfway through last series.

SO many qualified women presenters and they choose him. Susan Calman would have been great. Plus the women mentioned above.

I wonder how much they offered him, he seems to have intentionally been low key the past few years, bet they've paid silly money for him. I always think the bakers should be the stars of the show rather than the presenters.

I imagine that would be logistically difficult though, especially at the beginning when there are 12 bakers to chat to. I imagine there are at least two teams at any given time filming - one capturing Sandi plus a baker, another for Noel, and maybe third capturing bakers together or working solo.

Letting the bakers shine is all very well too, but I imagine it's harder to get them to 'shine' than it seems - having TV presenters with experience in helping them come out is probably an asset rather than anything else.

(Don't know about Lucas, but very glad it's NOT Jo Brand. She'd have been so tedious, making jokes about cake eating, being fat and lazy etc Based on her effort in Taskmaster, the walking around the tent would have been too much effort for her!)

Was he in my Top Ten? No.

But I cannot STAND Noel's comedy and didn't really like Sandy. When I saw those two were the new presenters, my heart sank.
But they were better than Mel and Sue. Particularly Noel. He is the gentlest, funniest male presenter on TV for quite some time and he is BRILLIANT with the contestants when they're upset.
