We're a few days ahead of you and they said 2 left at the end of the last episode. Netflix are showing it from the start - have it on the iPad while stuck in. Just started series 2.

Carrie is now in the same position as Brodie (sp) in the first series ie. suspected of being a traitor. The wheel has come a full circle, so perhaps the final scene will be of her staring mournfully from from the back of a police car with her little chin trembling as she's driven off to her execution for treason.

I watched Claire Danes in little women over the weekend and was very comforted to see the wobbly chin in action even all those years ago

We don't know that it is mirrored yet. Brodie was turned in captivity. We don't know yet that Carrie was turned during her Russian captivity, or since (I think she will be though)

Finally, finally I have caught up - I couldn't even think about this thread as I was so far behind, and tbh with general levels of real life anxiety, I was finding an anxiety-provoking TV show too much. But last night DH and I manned up and delved back into Homeland - god, it's good. I really think this is one of the better series - it's definitely up there with the Brodie glory days.

And yes, it was definitely telling that Carrie hadn't by any means told Yevgeny everything, if he didn't know who Max was.

DH, who is a nerd, pointed out that the recovery helicopter the Americans came in on to recover Max's body is in fact a Russian helicopter. He barely knows my name some days so why he's retained that information is anyone's guess.

Don't know re the President's chopper. When he's back from his government-sanctioned exercise I will see if he remembers.

This is why I should never doubt the Homeland team's attention to detail - so it was a Russian chopper because that was factually accurate. Thank you!

We have also just caught up on the episode. Generally really enjoyed it - the power struggle in the WH, Saul's loss of influence. The scene at the helicopter was absolute bollocks though - as if they'd let her pull a gun on them then run back to the lovely Yevgeny!

But Hassled, and the people who discussed this upthread, I am thinking that the detail about Carrie not having mentioned Max to Yevgeny, was more a writer's device to show how flawed Carrie is; for all her brilliance, she is essentially a user. She does form intense bonds, but her loyalty is almost always an afterthought; notably in the case of Quinn. She is acutely aware of her shortcomings in this area, her experience of motherhood has brought this really clearly into focus. Every series seems to have one strand of this theme -the pathos of Carrie's perpetual failings at human relationships. For her to have omitted any mention of Max when supposedly telling Yevgeny 'everything' seems to me totally in keeping with her character.

Yes I think you have something there woman. I did wonder if it was just a case of she hadn’t mentioned max because he really wasn’t that important to her outside of providing a useful service to her. She had no emotional connection to him (I think her tears were guilt rather than the loss of a friend)

Yes I was thinking similar. He knew all about her life and was working in her sister’s house in season 7 (?) so knew her and Frannie etc but I think Carrie wouldn’t know anything about Max’s life apart from he once liked Fara.
