Sorry if there’s already a thread on this but I couldn’t find one.

Anyone else excited about this? I’m really looking forward to it, especially after seeing the trailer yesterday! There were no kids in the trailer though (unless I missed them) so not sure what’s happened to Neil the baby and Stacey’s bump! Apparently Uncle Bryn is hosting Christmas this year....

The air freshener scene was so funny. I love the little non verbal jokes that they do in G&S, like Nessa rinsing her two fingers under the tap years ago Grin

Maybe that's why she them all taps Grin

Lexplorer · 26/12/2019 13:00

Good idea! I'll have to watch that part again when she lists the uses of a tap...

Lexplorer · 26/12/2019 13:04

Just finished my second viewing and noticed Bryn was over the top being mean to Gwen and not sure why. They used to get on didn't they?

fishonabicycle · 26/12/2019 13:42

What was the song that dawnie and Pete sung to each other? That whole bit about the spliff was so funny.

Mrsjayy · 26/12/2019 13:44

Time after time it's an 80s classic

QueenOfTheFae · 26/12/2019 13:59

Surely Ness would have done a 'crackin tattoo' not one that belongs on shittyTattoos.com

BarkandCheese · 26/12/2019 14:24

Were Gavin and Stacey’s kids called Harry, Kate and Meghan or did I mishear that?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 26/12/2019 14:42

BarkandCheese

Yes - well spotted!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 26/12/2019 14:43

Also a bit odd calling your kid Harry (Harold) Shipman

sweetsaltypopcorn · 26/12/2019 14:43

Harry, Caitlin and Megan @BarkandCheese

Dipsydoodle · 26/12/2019 14:48

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz That's the whole point!! They've all got serial killer names. Dawn and Pete Sutcliffe, the Shipmans, the Wests.

Boyskeepswinging · 26/12/2019 15:05

It wasn't just JC in Fat Friends, that's where JC and RJ met and developed the ideas that became G&S in between takes. Plus of course Alison Steadman was in Fat Friends, too, so I'd imagine they wrote Pamelaaarrrr specifically with her in mind.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 26/12/2019 15:21

Dipsydoodle

I get that - but in Harry's case he shares both a first and last name with a serial killer. The rest it's surnames only.

FlamingoAndJohn · 26/12/2019 15:22

The kitchen at Gwen's annoys me as it's lower than the other rooms!!

Well they are all real houses. The woman who lives in Bryn’s house is on MN!
In my old house the kitchen was three steps down.

I liked it. It was subtle. It’s never been laugh out loud funny. I was amazed at how well everyone has aged.

KimchiLaLa · 26/12/2019 15:29

Really? Can she do an AMA?! That would be amazing!!

FlamingoAndJohn · 26/12/2019 15:39

It was @dizzybintess. I think she moved since.

Mrsjayy · 26/12/2019 15:40

Jason. Was the only one who looked any older o think that was the full beard though. Larry Lambs face looked "re freshed" Xmas Wink

Dipsydoodle · 26/12/2019 15:42

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz Pete Sutcliffe?! Grin

The80sweregreat · 26/12/2019 15:46

Her kitchen just looks a bit awkward but I suppose a few houses there are on a slope etc. A friend of mine had a kitchen in her old home down a few steps and i was always worried I'd fall down them as there wasn't a rail or anything and it was quite steep!
It's good they use real places and not just a set though. Must be strange seeing houses and places you know on tv! Barry has a lovely beach.
I liked living in Wales for a few years. There are some hidden gems beach and scenery down there. So pretty.

FabulouslyFab · 26/12/2019 15:50

It was absolutely fabulous- I’ve now watched it three times. 😁

Wrongdissection · 26/12/2019 15:51

I’ve just watched for the second time. I loved it. The moments between Smithy and Nessa were so lovely and genuine. When he raises his glass to her as she’s singing karaoke you could see the affection in his face. His tan was very obvious but there’s not much you can do about that! I love Mick and Pam, their characters are perfect. Neil the baby was brilliant, he was very believable as the child of Smithy & Ness.

BrendasUmbrella · 26/12/2019 16:53

I loved it! I preferred it to the last season of G&S actually. I felt that Nessa had become too hard and cold, but she felt more authentic this time around. Smithy looked a bit Hollywood but you could put that down to the influence of his girlfriend. They could have put in a line about her sending him for sunbeds but he wasn't quite that tanned!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 26/12/2019 16:57

I used to love at a seaside town very similar to Barry. The terraced houses on a hill had little step down kitchens. I think they are cute.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 26/12/2019 17:10

Our old house in London had steps down to the kitchen.
