Have watched this family for years and read her books. Age is really catching up on Clive, he can hardly bend over now, it is very apparent in this new series. I don't like how the programme is becoming more contrived, it's obvious a lot of it is staged for the camera.

Some unpleasant jealous bitching on this thread about Amanda’s appearance.

ChessieFL · 04/08/2020 12:54

Thanks VictoriaBun, hopefully back next week then!

CurbsideProphet · 04/08/2020 16:22

Tony The Pony is the star of the show for me 😀
I really like watching this. The scenery is so lovely and it's interesting to see a way of life that it different from my own.

We keep pointing out 'Tony the Pony' when we're out walking the dog - any small pony really but there is one very like him in a field near us. I love how Clemmy missed him so much even while she was eating her Christmas dinner.

I cant believe some of the negative comments on this thread. Amanda and Clive are fabulous parents and all the children are so well adjusted and wonderful. The way Rueben looks out for his siblings is a joy to watch as are Clemmy and Sid who are just adorable. I always wanted a big family but was only blessed with two children. Amanda is living the life i would love but am too lazy to acheive!

ChessieFL · 05/08/2020 06:55

I wouldn’t like to live their life (too much of an indoor person) but am fascinated watching it! I think they’re a lovely family and the children all seem very happy. Amanda’s clothes and jewellery don’t seem very practical for farming but good on her for wearing what she wants to wear and I think she looks fabulous so why not?!

CaptainMyCaptain · 05/08/2020 07:36

Amanda’s clothes and jewellery don’t seem very practical for farming I was a bit Hmm when she put her hand inside the cow wearing all those bangles. I hope she washed them!

DennisTMenace · 05/08/2020 21:23

I think my kids would love the lifestyle they have. I watch it appreciating the life that looks great on camera, but must involve a lot more cold and dark and wet than shown on camera. One thing that was bugging me though, does Amanda not sit down when the family eat?

purpleme12 · 05/08/2020 21:25

@DennisTMenace this came to my attention too. In one of the episodes Clive says there's 10 places at the table for us all and we thought mmm what's going on there's 11 of them! (Raven was there too)

CaptainMyCaptain · 06/08/2020 08:36

That's odd but, somehow, I can't see Amanda putting up with any shit. Maybe the smallest child is still in a highchair.

LutherRalph1 · 06/08/2020 08:40

I noticed this too about Amanda, I think she just hovers by the oven at dinner time

purpleme12 · 06/08/2020 08:42

Must do cos every child is always say down, there's none in a highchair. Strange

Boredbumhead · 06/08/2020 08:53

I think they are a lovely family. You appear very critical OP!

purpleme12 · 06/08/2020 09:14

OP last posted on this thread last year so not sure whether she'll be reading this still...

CaptainMyCaptain · 06/08/2020 09:38

I always get the impression Amanda is doing exactly what she wants, though, so I wouldn't worry about her too much. She doesn't come across as downtrodden to me, she's probably a person who just can't sit still. I wish I'd been more like her in deciding what I wanted and going for it.

purpleme12 · 06/08/2020 09:40

I wasn't worrying lol

Pobblebonk · 06/08/2020 12:18

@MiniCooperLover

The 'oh she doesn't want to go to school, go back to bed' was ridiculous: that isn't how it works with schools and they know damn well it isn't after 9 kids 😳 but they can look good on camera
I think with 9 children you definitely gain enough experience to know when it won't hurt for your child to have a day out of school. I also suspect that, having dealt with these parents in relation to several children, the schools have the sense to trust their judgment and when it isn't appropriate to make a stupid fuss over one day.
CaptainMyCaptain · 06/08/2020 16:34

I think it was more a case of not starting school at all that term. They said she would have to go when she was 5. It wasn't a case of choosing day by day when you fancy going to school. I was a Reception teacher but I think Clemmy was having enough quality experience to make that extra term at home worthwhile, she is certainly articulate. It's not as if she's sitting indoors watching TV.

Pobblebonk · 06/08/2020 17:22

Ah, in that case the claim that "that isn't how it works with schools" doesn't apply, because of course there was no legal obligation at all to send the child to school till the term after her fifth birthday.

Boredbumhead · 06/08/2020 17:33

What is it about some British people that they love to pull successful people down? It's a lovely, genuine, warm family. Nothing to criticise that I can see.

CaptainMyCaptain · 06/08/2020 19:11

I think the posters criticising have long gone.

VictoriaBun · 11/08/2020 16:43

It's back on tonight.

LaBelleSauvage123 · 18/08/2020 23:22

I love this programme but am curious about why the third youngest child, Annas, never features. All the others come in and out, but she’s rarely seen and never singled out by name.

purpleme12 · 18/08/2020 23:32

Mmm I don't think I've even heard her name before or don't remember it anyway

Scrowy · 19/08/2020 07:32

Maybe she just doesn't want to be?
