Starts tomorrow

When a young, talented ballerina is found dead on an ancient stone altar, her death drags up another tragedy that befell this community years before - when three children disappeared into the local woods and only one returned

I thought the old lady explained what a fetch was after she first said it and neither police officer knew what she was talking about.

stumbledin · 24/10/2019 00:19

Thanks Rollergirl11 - changeling of course. And I suppose I saw that but only sublimilaly (oh dear dont know how to spell that) which is why my mind went down the route of thinking he is no longer Adam.

And maybe the strength of imagining a Lexie and then playing her has bought her into being!! (I'm not one for ghouls and ghosties but an trying to respond to this series on a different level to following the plot by actual evidence.)

I think you are right Bellasblankexpression - but isn't that part of the plot. They are being methodical (well sort of) police officers but what is going on around them is live lived by a different set of rules and beliefs.

BitOfFun · 24/10/2019 00:25

Rollergirl, I don't care really, because he's so purdy Grin

peridito · 24/10/2019 07:20

What's with Adam/Rob's living arrangement with nasty blonde "those are my peas" women ? An ex ?

Dulra · 24/10/2019 08:11

@Rollergirl11 I agree re his acting - I just don't buy that he'd deliberately be that wooden!
I think he is that wooden I have seem him in a few different things and he always seems like that. He has moments of brilliance but in the main I find him wooden.
Just caught up with episode 4. Took a very strange turn agree with others that merging the two books wasn't a good idea. With the dead child story line I think Adam/Robert is getting triggred and beginning to remember things so I think he will end up remembering what happened. I think the 1985 case will get resolved as a result but they won't find out who killed katie in 2006.
As for the Cassie/ Jes story no idea where that will go, part of me wonders is the undercover horrible detective behind the jes death which has lured cassie back in to going undercover.
Disappointed Robert/ cass had sex and think O'Neil guy is just lovely and she should stick with him for an easier life Grin.

For those lost definitely check out the shrine podcast they go through the plot with a fine tooth comb. Posted link below hope it works

Charley50 · 24/10/2019 08:47

@peridito - she's his flat mate or landlady that he has an on/ off shagging relationship with. I think she really likes him but he just uses her.

peridito · 24/10/2019 09:02

Thanks Charley !

Rollergirl11 · 24/10/2019 09:14

@BitOfFun : there is that I suppose. He’s certainly easy in the eye!

As I’ve says before he was exactly the same when he played Augustus Dove in Ripper Street and I was perplexed by his acting style then but gave him the benefit of the doubt and decided that the character demanded it. But he is exactly the same here. So I can only assume that this is how he acts.

@Dulra I think you’re right though that Rob will remember and that the Katy’s murder will go unsolved.

Rollergirl11 · 24/10/2019 09:18

On a side note I do find it tiresome how female crime authors these days tend to throw everything at the storyline. Subtle they aint! Hmm

happilybemused · 24/10/2019 09:20

I'm always a bit wary of Irish dramas about missing children after watching Amber a few years ago.

I'm just putting it here that if we never find out what happened I'm going to get the right hump and will no longer watch any more.

Amber - that was 6 hours of my life I'll never get back ....

longtompot · 24/10/2019 10:11

Didn't they say 'Lexie' who is now dead, found Cassies wallet and stole her ID? That she changed herself to look like her?

I was disappointed they slept together, and initially surprised at how cold he was. But then remembered the scene with his flatmate/landlady.

Rollergirl11 · 24/10/2019 10:37

@longtompot When did they say that? I must have missed it.

I don’t understand why they had Rob & Cassie sleeping together, unless it’s a plot device. Surely it would have happened already if it was going to, given how close they appear to be?

happilybemused · 24/10/2019 10:44

I assumed it was a plot device to change her mind about going undercover. She had refused but changed her mind as a way of avoiding him

PuppyMonkey · 24/10/2019 10:45

I’ve been watching this one, so I feel I ought to add that I don’t mind this show being confusing - I like a nice confusing WTF storyline. What I can’t forgive though is how bloody crap the whole thing is - the acting is atrocious and it’s just plain daft.Grin

As you were.

Rollergirl11 · 24/10/2019 12:05

@PuppyMonkey I’m inclined to agree with you. More and more I’m coming to the conclusion that’s it’s actually pretty shit and poorly executed. But it’s entertaining so I’ll probably stick with it!

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 24/10/2019 13:06

I think Killian is an incredible actor. I won't hear a bad word said about him Halloween Grin
It's his character - he's wooden and intense

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/10/2019 15:04

I am confused. But doesn’t take much 😂

I think Lexie and Cassie are twins. Split at birth or adopted when young

So her memory of her twin turns into imaginary friend

She gets told lexie isn’t real but she is and parents know that but are dead

I do love a recap 4

Not that it tells us much

Did I miss Cassie pretending to be dead Lexie to housemates

Or was that her pretending to be dead in hospital and the 4 watching and one ssid I don’t like to ask stuff to my friends

OP posts:
AnOojamaflip · 24/10/2019 17:31

Do you think it's going to end up a supernatural thing? I'm finding it hard to get away from that feeling.

AnOojamaflip · 24/10/2019 17:39

Cassie wasn't pretending to be dead Lexie, she was pretending to be hanging in there Lexie, so no one would know Lexie was actually dead.

Cassie is now going to go back undercover as whoever Lexie is (that looks identical to her) when she stole Cassie's undercover imagine which was based on an evil twin of herself she made up as a child.

happilybemused · 24/10/2019 20:24

The boyfriend (not Adam/ beard policeman ) pointed out to Cassie that he had a random doppelgänger who was a fire fighter when he was abroad (can't remember which episode) They took a photo and sometimes coincidences happen.

I'm guessing it's all supernatural/or logical thinking.

Either way I'm anticipating an 'Amber' conclusion.

I'm already getting enraged Grin

longtompot · 24/10/2019 20:28

@Rollergirl11 I just listened to The Shrine podcast (thank you to those who suggested it, I listened to 4 episodes today) They mentioned about the stolen id in the morgue over the dead body of Lexi. Not a wallet, I think I must have added that as to how she got it.

happilybemused · 24/10/2019 22:04

Eh ? Having given 4 hours of my life to this and completely confused I'm not in for a podcast.

I'm off to read a summary by the Guardian during week 8.

Bellasblankexpression · 24/10/2019 23:01

I don’t think they can be twins though - they took DNA from Cassie and dead Lexie and tested it and said there was no match.

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 24/10/2019 23:06

I knew I hadn't imagined the DNA test bit.

CoolCarrie · 24/10/2019 23:08

I said before that I hope it’s not going to turn out like Picnic At Hanging Rock, lots of woo, convoluted but lacking conclusion, but I will watch it until the end, what ever that might be.
