Starts tomorrow

When a young, talented ballerina is found dead on an ancient stone altar, her death drags up another tragedy that befell this community years before - when three children disappeared into the local woods and only one returned

What was the relevance of Sam pocket dialling her 45 mins before she was called again by Frank?

AnOojamaflip · 21/10/2019 23:55

He was with Frank wasnt he.

Maybe he thought dead Lexie was her? He evidently didn't really pocket dial seeing he had the phone to his ear and spoke immediately! Phone to check as he was spooked?

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 22/10/2019 06:50

This is definitely one you have to concentrate on! I’m enjoying it now having been unsure at first, but I rewatched eps 1 & 2 immediately before last night’s, giving them my full attention rather than net surfing at the same time and I’m properly hooked now. I read the books it’s based on years ago but can’t remember how they ended and obviously they’re being amalgamated to form one complete story so anything I could remember is probably irrelevant now anyway.

So from what I’ve gathered: Sam went down to Glenskehy to try to question the farmers about Petrol Blue tracksuit man. While there he somehow came across Lexie’s body - presumably either stumbled over it or saw the police cordon and offered his help, we don’t know. The earlier call he made was to check it wasn’t Cass given how they’re doubles of each other. We know Lexie is involved with one of the shady motorway/property developer men because she was in the car with him when the farmer came out of the pub in Glenskehy that Sam and Quigley were in to warn him not to go in. Not sure how Frank came to be on the scene at Lexie’s body since they were literally just identifying her when he was already there - tailing her thinking she was Cass, maybe? - but, judging from the trailer, it looks as though he persuades Cass to go back undercover as Lexie and they’re going to fake her recovering from the (actually fatal) injury in hospital.

I thought Dr Arsehole Archeologist was the homeless He Rises man (is that older Shane?) too at first, they really did look alike in the dark.

Charley50 · 22/10/2019 08:05

I'm really enjoying it. Nothing else to say really! Grin

Clawdy · 22/10/2019 08:40

Much as I'm enjoying it, I can't see why the adaptation has merged the two novels. Why not have four episodes of Into the Woods, the first book, then four episodes of The Likeness? To merge two long, complicated storylines seems really odd.

The80sweregreat · 22/10/2019 09:12

My dh has continued with it but I've given up. It looks dull and hard going and complicated. (Good acting though from the bits I have watched especially the main characters)
I think I'd get on better with the books.
Merging two books didn't go well for the Paula daly adaptations on itv and it looks like this is the same. Not a good idea.

Sotiredofthislife · 22/10/2019 10:41

I can’t make head nor tail of it. Thought dancing fire and wine man was Mr He Rises but he was actually the archaeologist. Think I am going to need you all to explain it by the end. It is the same woman playing Cassie and Lexie, yes?

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 22/10/2019 12:29

I don't think it's a spoiler (I hope not anyway!) to say that The Likeness novel didn't feature Rob/Adam, just Cassie and Frank. Presumably they needed to find a way to justify having Killian Scott in the whole drama so have entwined the two novels' plotlines.

AnOojamaflip · 22/10/2019 19:11

It's not on till quite blumming late for me (bbc ni). Gah!!

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 22/10/2019 21:00

BloggersBlog

Wonder if the dead twin Katie is really the other one, Jessica?

This is my theory too. I suspect to somehow escape whatever abuse has happened to her, if it was only happening to her (Katy), and not her twin.

implantsandaDyson · 22/10/2019 21:08

AnOojamaflip can you not watch it through the iplayer?. I'm watching it on live with a 5 minute delay for sweetie breaks

MakeTeaNotWar · 22/10/2019 21:09

Alexandra and Cassandra? Really?

AnyFucker · 22/10/2019 21:28

Am bloody lost

Doyoumind · 22/10/2019 21:32

I want to like it but it's far fetched nonsense.

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 22/10/2019 21:32

I can't work this out at all. Lexie appears to be Cassie's imaginary friend at one point, but obviously that's not the case. How is she identical?

Gretais · 22/10/2019 21:45

who is the girl whose been scalped?

Puffinhead · 22/10/2019 22:00

I haven’t got a clue what’s going on! Was doing ok until they introduced the other plot line.

Puffinhead · 22/10/2019 22:10

Does anyone know how many episodes there are? I might just skip to the last one.

Fatshedra · 22/10/2019 22:11

No idea - did someone say she is pregnant?

Charley50 · 22/10/2019 22:18

Confused.com!

RaynaJaymes · 22/10/2019 22:19

The girl who was scalped is the girl they interviewed right at the start of episode 1 and she grassed on her boyfriend who was in the other interview room.
Not sure why she’s been bought back into it cos tonight’s was confusing enough for me Confused

Charley50 · 22/10/2019 22:23

Blimey Rayna you've got a good memory! I had totally forgotten about that, wonder why it's relevant.
I quite like the fact that I don't know what the fuck is going on.

Tohavefarted · 22/10/2019 22:33

I love cassies hair ... not sure if it would look dated now though as obviously this was set 13 years ago.

Findumdum1 · 22/10/2019 22:34

Well done Rayna! I was wondering wtf she was.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 22/10/2019 22:35

Glad I'm not the only one who hasn't a clue what's going on. it's so frustrating - I think I'll not bother to watch the rest
