Starts tomorrow

When a young, talented ballerina is found dead on an ancient stone altar, her death drags up another tragedy that befell this community years before - when three children disappeared into the local woods and only one returned

OP posts:

Well I wasn't expecting that twist!!

Doyoumind · 05/11/2019 21:59

That's 8 hours I won't get back.

Impossibly similar doppelganger whose identity was never discovered and children taken by some supernatural force.

Why can't programmes have proper endings anymore? Angry

EggysMom · 05/11/2019 21:59

Dammit. Only one actual mystery (murder) solved. #officiallyannoyed

BIWI · 05/11/2019 22:02

I really don't remember the books ending like that! Will have to go back and read them again now Hmm

Bellasblankexpression · 05/11/2019 22:02

Anyone else really disappointed?

mogtheexcellent · 05/11/2019 22:03

I enjoyed it. The Adam thing and Lexie thing were just subplots exploring the characters of the detectives and actually the main murder (of Katy) was solved.

I was worried the writer would change the murderer and motive to something farcical, she has form for it.

undercoverhero74 · 05/11/2019 22:03

What a crock of shit that was!

Doyoumind · 05/11/2019 22:04

If the books do end differently please share and put us out of our misery.

CoolCarrie · 05/11/2019 22:05

WTF! Another bloody Picnic At Hanging Rock ending just as I feared. On a lighter note Adam actor is very attractive, but needs a face mask!

ImTheCaddy · 05/11/2019 22:06

Well that was crap. Absolutely no connection whatsoever between the various threads.

Supernatural ending. What a cop out!

And the doppelgänger thing. Just pathetic

CoolCarrie · 05/11/2019 22:06

Definitely going to read the wood book now. Liked the creepy jealous sister twist though.

Iftheresawilltheresaway · 05/11/2019 22:08

We saw cassie go for the termination but don't know if actually went through with it.

What happened to Shane in end?
Lexie was cremated quickly as a Jane doe, not much looking into who she was.

But, at the end mackay saw the dog and connected with it, why?

Dulra · 05/11/2019 22:08

I actually enjoyed it. The acting and cinematography were good story kept me gripped and confused and I think it ended well. I don't think it would have made any sense to solve the mystery of the missing kids 20 years later it just illustrated how people linked to what happened are still so damaged by it all which is probably quite realistic

PlasticPatty · 05/11/2019 22:13

Not disappointed, just frustrated.
It's unfinished. The two missing children should be found or their absence explained.
The fake Lexie's identity should be disclosed.
Shane should have been given medical attention and rehomed - he was still alive, wasn't he?
Mackey or whoever he was should have been drummed out of whatever form of police service he was in. He put Maddox's life at risk and set up a situation which ended in a death.
At least Cathal will probably have to answer for his part in the rape.

PlasticPatty · 05/11/2019 22:13

Note to self: It's not real, Patty.

Doyoumind · 05/11/2019 22:14

I wouldn't have minded not finding out what happened to the children so much if it weren't implied it had something to do with a strong wind and eerie laughter.

BumbleBeee69 · 05/11/2019 22:15

well I'm lost... totally lost.. so the kids eldest jealous sister killed her, but what about everything else ffs....

not impressed... Hmm

WidowTwonky · 05/11/2019 22:16

Why was lexi/Cassie originally stabbed? (In the street)

Clawdy · 05/11/2019 22:17

Disappointing ending, I really couldn't buy the Katy storyline, implausible motivation there. Rather glad all the surmises on here about Adam's dad and Katy's dad being abusers turned out to be completely wrong, as that would have been very clichéd.

BIWI · 05/11/2019 22:18

... and the other thing: who was the strange man who turned up to meet 'Lexie' outside the house, who handed her the cheque? Another part of the Cassie story that wasn't told properly - presumably that was something to do with the Alexandra character, who was pretending to be Lexie?

Bellasblankexpression · 05/11/2019 22:22

@Doyoumind same, that’s what I was disappointed with. I thought the cinematography, everything else was great, I liked feeling confused and trying to work it out but hate being left dissatisfied

VeniVidiVoxi · 05/11/2019 22:26

Scooby doo ending, except if Scooby Doo had a supernatural ending whereas I was hoping for a simple 'why it's old man hardcastle from the amusement park!' type Scooby Doo ending. Ah well. Ooooooh ghosts.

VeniVidiVoxi · 05/11/2019 22:30

The cheque from the fella outside the house was for fake dead lexies share of the house which must have been in the way of the motorway, or sub sub plot was wanted by the contractors for their own profit but was being bought using public money ear marked for the road to nowhere. Not clear how they would buy all the other student's shares or intact how one person can just sell their share. Seems like they had shoddy legal advice in divvying up the house.

BIWI · 05/11/2019 22:36

Ah yes. But that's another element of the Cassie story that was a victim - by forcing two stories into one, the Cassie story was never properly told.

fraggleplop · 05/11/2019 22:42

I thought the wolf killed the kids 🤷‍♀️
