Starts tomorrow

When a young, talented ballerina is found dead on an ancient stone altar, her death drags up another tragedy that befell this community years before - when three children disappeared into the local woods and only one returned

So Danien killed Katy. But why?

Justin killed Lexie as she was taunting him. Or did he? Maybe Daniel for him to confess.

Peter and Jamie were in fact nasty to Adam. Also didn't seem too concerned at Sandra being raped. Adam could not have killed them, even in anger, he wasnt strong enough, even if he did how would he disappear two bodies Where are their bodies?

Shane is the only one to recognise Rob as Adam (possibly because Rob was so agitated at that point - more Adam-like than Rob). Shane seemed quite concerned for Adam plus in 85 he'd told Adam to get away. Don't think Shane is bad in anyway.

So:
Why did Margaret marry Jonathan? Or possibly more correctly how was she pregnant with his baby and so married him? Why did she lie for the in 85? (They married in 89 I think, seems unlikely Sandra is really the mother of Rosalind.)
Why is Rosalind so broken? Why is her family a bit unusual?
Why did Jonathan seen nervy of Shane?
What's Cathal's problem? He's not nice is he yet Jonathan didn't seem nervy of him.

Squigean · 04/11/2019 23:09

@longtompot I think she was whoever she actually is. Daniem thought she was Cassie, who he knew as Lexie (when Cassie was undercover as Lexie she was in Trinity, but had left.)

This gave whoever dead Lexie is took advantage and took up his advice of going to TCU administrations and getting back onto the course that Cassie's Lexi had been on.

Quite simple and not convoluted at all Confused

RaynaJaymes · 04/11/2019 23:11

longtompot that wasn’t Cassie on the bus. It was the lookalike who assumed the Lexie identity from that conversation

He had originally seen Cassie undercover at his university and thought he was talking to her

longtompot · 04/11/2019 23:22

@RaynaJaymes but he said to Cassie it was you I was talking to on the bus.

longtompot · 04/11/2019 23:24

@Squigean I'm sorry, I've read your post several times, but I am not getting it. In my defence, I didn't sleep last night and am ver ver tired.

CoolCarrie · 04/11/2019 23:24

If Adam killed the other children what did he do with the bodies? Did his mother kill them because she clearly hated them, but again where could she hide the bodies? Surely the police would have used sniffer dogs? Will the bodies turn up when the digging starts? Lousy police work if that happens!

Squigean · 04/11/2019 23:24

He realised then, in the house, that it was Cassie he was in class with. But it was Dead-Lexie on the bus.

Squigean · 04/11/2019 23:38

@longtompot no worries. It's not particularly easy as there's two people with the name Lexie!!! My explanation isn't great. I'll try again

Justin saw 'Dead-Lexie' on the bus. At that time she wasn't calling herself Lexie (her real identity is not known).

Justin thinks she's 'Lexie', who had been in a few classes with him in first year. However this Lexie in first year was actual Cassie when she was undercover.

Justin then explains to Dead-Lexie on the bus that he had thought she'd left Trinity and gone into rehab. Dead-Lexie seizes the opportunity to take on a new identity realising that this Lexie that Justin thinks she is has indeed left.

She evidently goes to Trinity, says she's Lexie and wants to get back on her course.(this is the course Cassie was doing when she was undercover as Lexie.)

We do not know who Dead-Cassie is, nor do we know why she wanted a new identity.

We also don't know why she looks exactly like Cassie. Or why cassie, as a child, has her as an imaginary friend and why he was called Lexie then.

longtompot · 05/11/2019 00:00

Gotcha! Though dead-Cassie has lost me again. Cassie isn't dead.....is she? I darent ask, lest I muddle myself even more.

Squigean · 05/11/2019 06:35

Dead-Lexi is dead. She was murdered - stabbed in the same place Cassie was in the scene saw in 2003 in the pouring rain. Cassie didn't die as she was on the phone to garda colleagues to whom she'd just given her location (she in Dublin city centre) got taken to hospital.

Justine, whilst sat in the big house's kitchen, confessed to Dead-Lexi's murdered. He was told by Daniel March to tell Cassie 'how Lexi died'. Apparently he was cooking dinner, Dead-Lexi had been taunting him about how now one noticed/liked him, he got in a rage and stabbed her. Justine said he doesn't remember actually stabbing her.

I'm not convinced it was Justine, possible Daniel told him to (falsly) confess to it.

Unresolved things about Dead-Lexie are:
Who is she?
Why does she look exactly like Cassie?
How was she Cassie's childhood imaginary friend?
What was she taking money for?
Do the odd-bod housemates know she was taking money?

Bellasblankexpression · 05/11/2019 08:36

I feel like this has got totally ridiculous now with the Lexie plot. I'm all for suspending disbelief a bit, but it just doesn't work.

BIWI · 05/11/2019 09:29

I don't remember being this confused reading the book!

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/11/2019 09:38

Think I understand why girl on bus chose name lexi

But who was she Before

So other kids weren’t nice

Maybe Adams mummy did kill them

And poor shame. Adam kicking him like that

And I don’t think Justin killer Lexie. He has no memory of it

And why did Damien kill KATY ?

As I see it Cassie had an imaginary friend called Lexie as a little girl.

When she was required to go undercover she decided to adopt the identity of her childhood imaginary friend.

The explanation given to the university when undercover Lexie left (returned to be Cassie) was that she went into rehab.

Murdered Lexie was mistaken for undercover Lexie on the bus. They assumed she had completed rehab.

She is clearly a bit of a chancer so decided she may as well adopt her personality as the resemblance was so strong.

We know from police DNA testing that murdered Lexie is not related to Cassie. It must be pure coincidence.

She seems to be a chancer who then

Rollergirl11 · 05/11/2019 11:54

@happilybemused yes but how did dead Lexie know that she looked just like Cassie if she knew nothing of Cassie before taking on her fake identity as her fake identity? If she did know what Cassie looked like then it isn’t just down to coincidence.

I really hope they explain who Lexie is otherwise I think I might smash the TV.

nokidshere · 05/11/2019 12:07

happilybemused yes but how did dead Lexie know that she looked just like Cassie if she knew nothing of Cassie before taking on her fake identity as her fake identity? If she did know what Cassie looked like then it isn’t just down to coincidence.

She knew because that's who Justin thought she was. And he told her the name.

Rollergirl11 · 05/11/2019 12:37

So one random person on a bus mistakes her for someone else and that’s enough for her to assume that she can convincingly take on that persons identity? And it just so happens that the identity she takes on is also a fake identity? BULLSHIT!!!!!

happilybemused · 05/11/2019 12:56

Rollergirl completely agree but that's what we are supposed to believe I think.

Your comment about smashing the TV made me laugh. I think there may be quite a few by 10pm by tonight.

Even the Radio Times said the ending will leave viewers 'divided'

Squigean · 05/11/2019 14:46

I think the ending is going to be a supernatural one. It'll annoy people because they've been viewing it as a detective story.

The fall-out will be mighty!! There's already a good handful of angry tweets about chocolate biscuits.

JemimaTab · 05/11/2019 15:08

I’ll watch the last episode as I feel I should see it out, having got this far - but it’s been pretty disappointing. There was definitely some promise there, but once it got side-tracked into the ludicrously implausible (and apparently completely separate) Lexie storyline, it lost me. They also spent so long on this separate storyline in the last couple of episodes that I’d almost forgotten about the original one. The ending doesn’t sound very promising.

EggysMom · 05/11/2019 17:06

Didn't the 'undercover cop handler' (sorry, don't know name or proper title) say a few episodes back that somebody had been trying to access Lexie's birth certificate? I think he accused Cassie of doing it but it wasn't her ... That would suggest that Lexie was a real person originally, whose name Cassie stole.

I still don't know who killed the kids in 1985, were they even killed? Or perhaps they just went missing and never found?

EggysMom · 05/11/2019 17:07

I, too, will be incredibly annoyed if the ending turns out to be supernatural. I've followed this as a murder case, not make-believe.

BIWI · 05/11/2019 17:21

From my recollection of the books, I don't think there's a supernatural ending!

Squigean · 05/11/2019 18:31

He did @EggysMom. But I'm not too sure if they create fake ones for undercover though. Frank probably does as he seems quite dodgy!!

Etinox · 05/11/2019 21:06

Where are we? Is this a flashback? The car scene and talking about the stag?! Confused
