The Circle is back on tonight (Channel 4, 9:15) and I am soooooo excited Grin

OP posts:
itswinetime · 01/10/2019 23:35

Richard came across well but I Stillman don't see the point in putting him in it wasn't awful but it didn't add anything for me!

I'm finding I like all the genuine people but the catfish's are coming across completely one dimensional. I'm impressed at Tim spotting bot jay and now Sammi but I wonder if his observations are going to get him into trouble.

I hope one of the newbies bring some proper drama never thought I'd say it but the circle is missing a Freddie this year!

itswinetime · 01/10/2019 23:37

Stillman??? That was meant to be still Blush

wizzler · 01/10/2019 23:51

@itswinetime I agree. Freddie drove me nuts last year but I miss him !

I love Tim. I. Am struggling to think of a show which wouldn't improve if Tim was on it. He can even draw!

InglouriousBasterd · 01/10/2019 23:54

I think there’s going to be some horrified faces when they find out who Sammie really is

Italiangreyhound · 02/10/2019 00:58

Loved it tonight, so glad Judy gave immunity to Georgina.

CardiFree · 02/10/2019 02:38

It was good, just caught up.

I cringe in advance whenever Jay's about to come on #ledge #hashtags#. Mistaking Spanish and German for French (it's all forrin innit) #thesortofbritidswevreabroad

Georgina deserved her immunity, hope it doesn't change her popularity when people find out.

Woody is lovely.

I could watch an hour of just Courtney Act on the sofa. Scarlett Moffat was pointless though, CA had to explain how intelligent and accomplished Tim is to her and she still looked baffled.

SpanishFly · 02/10/2019 05:53

Why doesnt Courtney have her own show - not something ott and outrageous, but a chatty type of thing? Shes super intelligent, uses Actual Words when she speaks, and gets the best out of people

motorcyclenumptiness · 02/10/2019 07:12

Tim's dancing was glorious. Even the edited version of Jay lacks any real entertainment value.

SpanishFly · 02/10/2019 08:36

I'm warming to Woody. But I'm astounded at how "quiet" he is, given his mum has a big personality. Quiet isn't the right word, but "bland" is too unkind and I dont mean it to be. he's just a bit beige , which is a surprise.

feedingfrenzyatfive · 02/10/2019 09:11

@spanishfly I agree about Woody, he's sweet, but really subdued. Maybe being Zoe Ball's son means that he was never able to get a word in edgeways? Norman Cook himself always seemed quite calm when he wasn't being his alter ego.

I wish Georgina WOULDN'T SHOUT.

SpanishFly · 02/10/2019 09:15

yes, he maybe just sat on the sidelines while his mum and grandad talked loudly and excitedly :D
I just expected a bit more oooomph from him - maybe more quick-witted or something.

ArtistOfTheFloatingWorld · 02/10/2019 09:24

I'm impressed at Tim spotting bot jay and now Sammi but I wonder if his observations are going to get him into trouble.

Agreed, I fear a bit for Tim... I'm hoping that Woody sees the light soon! I'd love for a few more suspicions to be raised about Sammie too.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 02/10/2019 09:31

I'm enjoying this more and more now. Would have liked Richard to have been himself and stayed in longer / properly played the game until closer to the end (obviously not allowed to win) but I guess from a celebrity / ego perspective that would have been quite a big risk.

Really like all of them now except Jay and Sammie but think Sammie brings a lot because he's so good at lying. Jays mum just seems a bit dim and all the hashtags are very try-hard. Wish she'd stop.

Will be interesting to see the newbies and how they are. How long does the show go on for?

Are they allowed out in the day as surely it is like a jail being cooped up in there 24/7? I get they go to the gym, but actually leaving the building and seeing sunlight - does that happen?

BertBox · 02/10/2019 09:56

I would possibly go mad in there with just a jigsaw for company (I'd be ok with a cat). Their conversations only seem to last a couple of minutes at a time as well - are they not allowed to spend all day chatting?

I wonder if they can go on the balconies?

steppemum · 02/10/2019 10:34

Oh found you all!

I only started watching because of my niece (I'll tell that story in a minute)

I find Sammie really fascinating, total game playing, very ruthless really, I think some of the others are going to be quite upset when they find out.
I love Tim, I'm really impressed with how quickly he spotted that Jay was a catfish, but not only that, but that he was being played by his mum!.

I'd love to know how much time they spend chatty off camera. Are they allowed to just chat to who they like when they like? I am guessing they are, as they buffered them all the other night.

steppemum · 02/10/2019 10:35

so, my niece has a physical disabilty (not going to say what). She was interviewed int he apper for something. Then she was approached by the makers of the Circle to be on the show. They wnated her to post photos with no disability and the big reveal was that she had a disability

Shock Shock

she graciously declined!

steppemum · 02/10/2019 10:36

typos - she was interviewed and in the paper for something

SpanishFly · 02/10/2019 10:42

aw, man, thats just bizarre - I honestly don't know why producers etc don't understand how offensive that is to even suggest it

itswinetime · 02/10/2019 11:52

Woody is quiet but I think he is only 18 how many 18 year olds are confident and outgoing in a bunch of strangers? I think he is doing well for his age.

SpanishFly · 02/10/2019 12:30

Yeah I totally agree re Woody, he is doing well - but my point was just that he's a bit meh, when I expected him to be more confident and loud. Altho I do know a few 18yr olds, and most are loud and obnoxious - and they'd be really cringeworthy on the Circle

100PercentThatBitch · 02/10/2019 12:54

Woodys parents both have big careers, went through a messy divorce, his mums love life in the press a few times....

It might be hard to establish a big personality that way.

Starlight456 · 02/10/2019 12:59

I also think Sammie will upset a few .

I really like Tim and Woody.

SpanishFly · 02/10/2019 13:34

I can't work out what's missing from the catfish this year. Last year, Alex/Kate was very plausible and extremely likeable as two people - and we knew him as two people very quickly.
But we don't know much about the character of Sammie, nor about Jay's mum as a real person. If we had a bit more of the other side of them, they might be more plausible and likeable

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 02/10/2019 13:47

How did their real personalities come out @SpanishFly? (I didn't watch last year).

Did they talk to themselves on camera? We only see / hear what they say when talking in the circle.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 02/10/2019 13:48

Which is obviously in character (is what I mean)
