The Circle is back on tonight (Channel 4, 9:15) and I am soooooo excited Grin

I actually love this twist

aSofaNearYou · 14/10/2019 23:08

I feel like it's kind of a done deal that Woody is going to win which just feels awkward because he's very obviously the person that needs it least and doesn't even seem to want it. Tonight's task just made that painfully obvious.

I just don't feel like Georgina or James are coming across well, though, they both seem bitter in different ways in the last week or so, and Paddy is just meh. If they do form a clique they might be able to win the player vote but seriously doubt any of them would win the public vote.

Personally I'd back Tim until the cows come home. He's been entertaining, funny and kind (without being sickly sweet) since the start and would genuinely get a lot out of the money.

100PercentThatBitch · 14/10/2019 23:12

But James is right to say that people are brown nosing when it's not anonymous

Are Tim and Ella really going to vote for Woody to win when it comes to it or are they going in the moment to give sympathy votes to Paddy or Sammie because it makes them look "nice" ?

Starlight456 · 14/10/2019 23:15

There others saying they will give it away are also saying they don’t need it.

In reality it isn’t about the money for woody . He said it when he spoke to Jack and Beth. People say he is only popular because of who his parents are.

PippaPug · 14/10/2019 23:21

Woody hasn’t spent the money like the others because I feel the money doesn’t mean anything to him like the other potential winners in the circle.

Sammie got rather angry after his message didn’t he?

Josh I feel won’t use the money on building a school - felt like that was a huge lie!

100PercentThatBitch · 14/10/2019 23:22

But Josh and Sammie the ones claiming to give it away, are in fact flat out lying about that.

aSofaNearYou · 14/10/2019 23:23

I really like Woody as a person and he's definitely proved he's popular in his own right, but I don't really want him to win because he's been so open about not being bothered about the money.

Now people in the Circle are starting to pick up on that and feel resentful-
James had a good point but idk, just in the last couple of episodes (before the rivals game) he's started to complain every time anyone says anything nice or that wasn't about the money and it's not painting him in a very good light even if he does have a point. It probably doesn't help that they keep showing different players talking about how much their "genuine connection" with Sammie means to them, either 😬

Last year Alex/Kate won because he was basically the only long standing catfish and played it in a really tongue in cheek way, and nobody's feelings were hurt but Dan. He also hit the point where he started to feel guilty but with Sammie it's just starting to feel so depressing and awkward.

100PercentThatBitch · 14/10/2019 23:24

Cross post!

And that's why James got so annoyed because the "what's it to you anyway?" Style answer highlighted that his explanation had emotionally manipulative qualities

LolaDabestest · 14/10/2019 23:26

Did no one else notice?' Woody referred to Sammie as "he" not "she"

2Rebecca · 14/10/2019 23:31

All the I'm giving the money to this charity stuff was pointless. If you dont actually need the money yourself then why should the others care whoch charity you give it to? Sammy was surprisingly stupid over that. Why should Woody care if he gives it to a mother and kids' place or Battersea Dogs' Home? It should have been about them as a person not how imaginative their charity spending ideas are.

100PercentThatBitch · 14/10/2019 23:32

Which bit?

100PercentThatBitch · 14/10/2019 23:35

@2Rebecca

Agreed

The charity giving claims were embarrassingly insincere and James was only annoyed because he realised too late

"I Wanna Take Our Charlie To Disney" would have been a much more believable answer for Sammie

2Rebecca · 14/10/2019 23:36

I'd rather give the money to Tim to supplement his usually low paid academic salary. He wasn't claiming he'd save the world with the money. Hope he'd have a nice time with it. Woody is probably the only one who would donate it to charity, but that's not a reason to give him it

KatyCarrCan · 14/10/2019 23:42

I still like James. The way he spoke about giving some of the money to charity made me wonder if he'd been in a refuge with his mum. I think he was being genuine hence why he reacted so strongly when he thought Woody was getting at him.
Of course Woody doesn't care about the money. He went on The Circle to see if he could be popular without people knowing his background. He probably didn't even think about the prize money much (even though he said his dad told him he had to earn his own money).

LolaDabestest · 14/10/2019 23:46

Just after he read sammys bit about the money...

cuddlymunchkin · 15/10/2019 00:20

I definitely got the impression Sammie/James was genuine about giving part of the money to a refuge and I agree with the poster above that he seems to have personal experience relating to one.
I'm glad there is a rival to the Ella/Woody/Tim gang. I live Tim, Woody I'm not fussed about, Ella I don't like. She's triple faced - how many best buds does she have? Everyone she has a private chat with. And she definitely knows Woody is absolutely loaded if not who his parents happen to be.
Tim or Sammie for the win!

KatyCarrCan · 15/10/2019 00:48

I've always been wary or to quote Brooke weary of Ella. She's been strategic from the beginning and very cagey about her life. Beyond going to festivals (so she could bond with Woody) we don't really know anything about her.
Woody is lovely and I'm torn between wanting him to win because he has been genuine from the beginning to thinking it would be a waste if he did win because he doesn't need the money.I think there'd be quite a strong backlash if he won and I don't want that for him.
sad face hashtag protect the woodster send.

SpanishFly · 15/10/2019 06:02

If I was a contestant in the Circle, I'd be so paranoid. I'd be wondering if I was the only person actually in there 😅

Re jack and Beth - that was NOT a first kiss. So I reckon the production team have very cleverly skirted around them becoming a couple so that it didnt become the focus of the show. I hope they didnt get together simply to have another angle to get votes from the public. I had really warmed to them by the end.

Tim to win. He's kind, trusting, full of good advice, and not bitchy or two faced. Not enough genuinely nice people in the world, and it sends out a good message if he or Woody win as a result of being nice people.

SpanishFly · 15/10/2019 06:04

I missed Woody saying "he" about Sammie. Do you think hes rumbled him but we're not seeing the full story yet? Or was it just a slip of the tongue?

Loveislandaddict · 15/10/2019 07:03

I couldn’t understand why Sammie/james was so upset. Woody wasn’t making a dig at him, just presenting his case. The game showed who the popular ones were last night.

I think Sammie is like Kate/alex last year, ie. showing their personality through another character.

Ella - that’s a good point that we don’t actually know her. However, she’s ended up being one of the cleverer ones.

I wish Jan had been in it longer. I think she’s a good addition to the group.

2Rebecca · 15/10/2019 08:18

I think Sammy directed his anger at the wrong person. The reason Woody wasn't interested in his pretend or real charity plans was not because his idea wasnt considered good by Woody but because everyone seemed to be using "charity" as an excuse to get their hands on the money. He didnt consider that Woody would have prepared his answer before knowing who he will follow. Sammy is manipulative and self centred.

doublebarrellednurse · 15/10/2019 08:24

Yes I agree . I went to Berlin 1991 ( was interaiining ) so know it had come down before that .

It didn't come down until Nov 1991! 😂

I loved the woody blocking Joyce we were very excited here. Beth was so agitated!!! I'm glad they didn't focus on them too getting together it's so boring when shows do that!

I'm a woody and Tim fan right now, I wish James was just being himself. Georgina I liked but she's being a cow right now! Pathetic and childish.

ItIsWhatItIsInnit · 15/10/2019 08:36

This whole "charity" thing is ridiculous - has it now become an X-factor style sob story contest of who will do the most noble thing with the money?

They're (mostly) normal working people - surely they would just use it for a house deposit, train for a new career, RTW trip.....they're not celebs. They shouldn't have to say they'll give all the money to charity to be in with a chance of winning!

OP posts:
KatyCarrCan · 15/10/2019 08:41

The reason Woody wasn't interested in his pretend or real charity plans was not because his idea wasnt considered good by Woody
I thought Woody was deliberately undermining the ones who had said where they would spend the money.
From the beginning, Woody has focused on being popular and, considering who his parents are, he either won't want to be seen as being grabby about money or he just genuinely isn't.
But he obviously felt he had to counter the spending it on charity narrative. He could have just said why he thought he should win. He didn't need to point out that he wasn't telling them where he would spend the money iyswim.

lynsey91 · 15/10/2019 08:41

I still want Woody or Tim to win. Ok Woody doesn't need the money but if he gives it away that means he is doing some good with it.

I really don't want any of the others to win. Sammi really annoys me and I think James seems quite a nasty person when not pretending to be simple Sammi. Georgina is a bitch. Josh is just a complete waste of time and also not a very nice person.
