Mm I don't think grey haired woman will stop Frank

definitelyshouldknowbetter · 02/10/2019 17:53

humansympathique I agree, it could be used to frame innocent people however on these circumstances, they know the people are guilty but they need solid, admissible evidence to get the conviction, the means to get there is dodgy but the motivation behind it is legitimately trying to protect and prevent terrorism.

definitelyshouldknowbetter · 02/10/2019 17:54

I think silver fox is actually as bad as frank, just not as vocal about it, probably trying to protect herself if the shit hits!

humansympathique · 02/10/2019 18:53

@definitelyshouldknowbetter
Surely according to convention silverfox is the guyWink
With zero idea how things work in their world i am thinking frank & gemma are operating at a v senior level - does shit actually touch them? Whether they are acting inside or outside what is permitted by their country is not obvious. Frank seems to be calling the shots, but gemma is saying yes or no. Frank might just go right ahead anyway of course. The person who seems more vulnerable and trying to keep a semblance of decency is mr silver fox - a publically recognised policeman. We will see

definitelyshouldknowbetter · 02/10/2019 20:41

humansympathique very true, I’m sticking with her being the silver fox though! She looks amazing!Grin

Theorangeorange · 02/10/2019 22:20

I don't think Hannah is dead! They gave her something but they haven't killed her

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/10/2019 22:22

So judging by Shaun's flashback in the club, he did deliberately kill an unarmed man in Helmand?

AvillageinProvence · 02/10/2019 22:37

I don't think Shaun did queen - but he's starting to doubt himself (just as he started to have 'false flashbacks' to abducting and killing Hannah) because he doesn't trust Charlie any more - he thinks Charlie and Hannah were just using him (as they were!) and therefore may have fabricated that his video was out of sync.

Italiangreyhound · 03/10/2019 01:53

"I think silver fox is actually as bad as frank..." Agree, he is just a coward.

I think Rachel will save the day.

Totally torn on whether Shaun killed an unarmed man intentionally or not. I cannot imagine being in battle and making split decisions, being so psyched up to go after the 'enemy' and then needing to work out when someone got in the way or wasn't armed or whatever.

It'll be really hard to prove that he didn't really kill an unarmed man so for dramatic plot it would work better if he did, but I still hope he didn't.

If the footage was real, and the testimony of the expert witness was real then maybe the footage really does prove he didn't do it. But then we are being led to question all 'footage'!

Mustn't forget the expert witness did not die in the attack at his home, he was in a coma so maybe he has more to tell us (strokes chin!)

Yes, I also know it is not a real story! (Shaun is so bloody cute!)

Italiangreyhound · 03/10/2019 01:55

Charlie and Hannah are horrible mean creeps who used him.

The bit where she spots the dog dead on the monitor is horrible and she realizes they are in the room with her was terrifying. I definitely think she is dead. She doesn't deserve it but she was willing to frame an innocent man, his daughter saw the video and he might have been killed in prison so Charlie definitely needs to stand trial.

I do so hope Frank gets what's coming to him.

DH noticed it said on iplayer series 1. More to come????

AvillageinProvence · 03/10/2019 08:27

Yes, the replay of the bit in the bar where Hannah tells Shaun he did nothing wrong and she believes in him, appears very different second time round - she is playing him. Ruthlessly! I fear Charlie will probably get away unscathed.

Looking back I suppose I did think it was a bit unlikely that Hannah would have kissed Shaun at the bus stop but I thought it was just a bit of tv schmalz. Clever.

fluffiphlox · 03/10/2019 08:32

I’ve quite enjoyed this so far but I think Holliday Grainger isn’t a very convincing copper (or actor).

DeadBod · 03/10/2019 14:52

I wondered about the cctv guy as well, he's in a coma and not dead so will he come in useful?

SisterFarAway · 03/10/2019 20:13

Watched the latest two episoded last night. I think Rachel's dad's/stepmum's house is not as safe as she might think. She told Gemma a bit about her background, enough to find out more about her and potentially the address of her father.

AvillageinProvence · 03/10/2019 20:44

Hmm, you may be right about the 'safe house'. I hope Rachel's half sister is ok - in fact I could see her saving the day somehow. Rachel wouldn't be grateful of course (probably rightly).

Corneliawildthing · 03/10/2019 21:47

I lasted out 4 episodes but on the 5th I knew I was in trouble as I kept having to ask my OH who people were and why had they done certain things Confused. This always happens to me with this type of programme.

peridito · 04/10/2019 08:09

fluffiphlox I think Holliday Grainger isn’t a very convincing copper (or actor).

Quite .That scene where she was crying at her father's house was excruciating .

I didn't get the conversation btwn her and her sister - always have to miss stuff before I can persuade OH to put subtitles on , Rachel was upset that birth mother's photo was in a prominent position ???

And where will expert witness/video man fit in ?

AvillageinProvence · 04/10/2019 08:15

Yes Rachel couldn't believe they'd had the audacity to put up a photo of her mother after the way her father had behaved towards her.

Her half sister seemed nice, I thought.

Yes, expert witness will come out of his coma - though does he have any more day-saving information to reveal? Why didn't Frank's men kill him, I wonder - they must have realised he wasn't dead.

peridito · 04/10/2019 08:34

Yes Rachel couldn't believe they'd had the audacity to put up a photo of her mother after the way her father had behaved towards her.

I'm not sure I get that ...as step sister( said I think ) what's the alternative ,brushing her out of existence ? But I guess hypocritical ?

And step sister ( how do we know step ? ) said it had always been in that position .

And why the disbelief/rebuff from Rachel to step sister when latter said she was a good listner ?
Was there back story that I've missed ? In fact I know I missed back story when Rachel was revealing all to Gemma /white haired scary lady in car .Can someone remind me ?

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/10/2019 09:14

@peridito I think it's her half-sister as she said "Dad and my mum" to Rachel. Looks to be about what, a 10 year gap between them?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 04/10/2019 09:16

@peridito Rachel revealed that her father had set up another family and had another child (the step-sister), all kept secret while her mother was dying.

Quaffy · 04/10/2019 09:32

I’m really enjoying the series and even honk Holliday Grainger is good!

Quaffy · 04/10/2019 09:32

*think not honk 🤦🏻‍♀️

peridito · 04/10/2019 09:41

Ah ha! Thank you Queen and ArmyMayhem

Llareggub · 04/10/2019 10:19

Did anyone else find the scene where the grey haired woman, the American and Rachel’s bit of stuff were sitting on a bench, really comedic? What should have been sinister just seemed farcical to me.

I watched this with my son over two nights and we got to the end last night, turned to each other and said “well that was rubbish”

Shame, it could have been so much better.
