I’d like to see a Yorkshire pudding round!! 😋

BooksAreMyOnlyFriends · 13/09/2019 17:55

Yorkshire puddings - yes!!
I don't think they've done them before? Is it baking? I'm more of a savoury person myself so would love it.
Imagine a Yorkshire pudding showstopper Grin

redchocolatebutton · 13/09/2019 18:02

loved the tear and share. will be making one tomorrow (stilton and onion pickle?)
some really interesting designs and flavours.

PinkDaydreams · 13/09/2019 18:08

@BooksAreMyOnlyFriends my mum likes eating them with jam! I’m yet to try it

Wolfcub · 13/09/2019 18:15

We are watching again because ds want to. It is no less tedious the second time around

30to50FeralHogs · 13/09/2019 18:23

I made the world's worst Yorkshire yesterday for tea, I could do with some tips! It was like rubber. However, my brother suggested I should apply for next year, but if there's a Yorkshire round I'll be out!

Wolfcub · 13/09/2019 18:45

30to50 the secret to Yorkers is equal volume of ingredients- eggs, milk, flour

writersbeenblocked · 13/09/2019 18:59

I prefer Extra Slice these days, especially the failed home bakes! I may have sent one in of my own this year...

bookbook · 13/09/2019 19:45

30to50 - one tip - really, really hot fat/oil in the tins , and a stinking hot oven . I use Delia s recipe , which has worked a treat for me .
PinkDayDreams - its the law to make too many Yorkshires , so there is some left to eat with jam . I was brought up with this :)
I haven't even bothered to go and watch this weeks show - I was out , and don't know that I can be bothered in truth. It has got boring , and I hate the advert breaks

PinkDaydreams · 14/09/2019 07:00

I need to give Yorkshire’s and jam a try! Raspberry, strawberry, marmalade or apricot?!
I haven’t watched the extra slice, I’ll have to try get that on a catch up.

Itsfineactually · 14/09/2019 07:11

I’m Welsh and don’t go on about it, the Welsh lady is annoying me.

LemonRedwood · 14/09/2019 07:55

Strawberry jam with Yorkshires. Always.

redchocolatebutton · 14/09/2019 10:39

I love pru's hair.
looks really nice. unlike paul's

VetOnCall · 15/09/2019 01:53

There was a Batter Week in 2016 and they had to do Yorkshire puddings for the signature. It was the series that Candice won, with Selasi, Jane, Benjamina, Val, Andrew etc. I watch way too much Bake Off on Netflix Blush

KickAssAngel · 15/09/2019 05:21

the secret of yorkshires is trying to stop DD & DH eating more than their share.

PinkDaydreams · 15/09/2019 09:33

I only started watching in 2017 so missed batter week! I’m going to have to try find it on Netflix, that’ll be my Sunday afternoon sorted Grin

PinkDaydreams · 15/09/2019 12:13

Just watched the batter episode, yummy!! I actually started watching bake off during that series but didn’t see that episode. I much prefer the older bakers compared to the younger ones of this series.

Wolfcub · 15/09/2019 18:51

I’m just watching Delia make a toad in the hole that is as flat as a fart. Depressing

Armi · 15/09/2019 21:00

I’d be interested to find out exactly how long Alice has been teaching (not long, I imagine). I wonder if the simply enormous bursary offered to Geography trainees recently helped her to discover her supposed love of Geography?

Anyway. I hate this series. I hate that older people, particularly older women who have been baking for years and can actually do it, have been pushed aside for younger folk without skills but with nice teeth. It’s so fucking annoying.

Piggywaspushed · 15/09/2019 22:36

Ha! Armi, those were my thoughts, since she has an Art degree!

We have never struggled to recruit geographers at my place so that bursary always confuses me.

LemonRedwood · 15/09/2019 22:44

I used to teach (escaped a few months back) and what puzzles me most about teachers on bake-off is how the fuck they have the time and the energy mid-week to do all the practice bakes? Have they no marking to do? Who is highlighting the success criteria and double-checking the peer-marking and self-assessment. And filming 2 days at the weekend - when are they planning their lessons? Is geography particularly admin-light? We've never had an English teacher have we? They'd probably have a stack of essays at the end of the workbench.

DippyAvocado · 16/09/2019 00:00

I'm quite enjoying it. Paul is annoying and rude, but he always is. I never feel I know the contestants very well by this stage anyway so this year is no different. This is the first time my DD has been old enough to watch it with me. She loves it and remembers all the contestants names. She does refer to Paul as "Simon Cowell" though.

Piggywaspushed · 16/09/2019 07:05

lemon, my understanding with Candice is that she took a sabbatical (and never went back, of course!)

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/09/2019 08:41

I haven't had the interest in this series - but I've enjoyed the comments here even though I have no idea who people are talking about.

I thought Sewing Bee was supposed to be back this year - I've been counting the minutes. Does anyone know anything about it?

PinkDaydreams · 16/09/2019 10:03

@SchadenfreudePersonified I was thinking the exact same yesterday, when’s sewing bee back on?! I looked and I think the last series was April this year so maybe we have to wait till next April? Feels like it was ages ago though that I watched it.
