Do you secretly enjoy children's tv?

So I'm not at this stage yet of son watching many tv shows (he's 9 months and only watches 1 or 2 and not very often) but I've seen threads on here about how some of you hate certain TV shows. My question is do you secretly enjoy them/one?

Last night son was being a pain to settle so I took him into the living room (we live in a flat) while partner said he was going on Netflix (he had put son down for the night). So when son finally settled and fell asleep I put him in his cot. And partner was falling asleep so I went to go to the home page of Netflix but partner woke up and he asked what I was doing and he paused it and I saw he was watching pj masks. I asked him why he was watching it and he said he likes it.

He told me not to tell anyone because they would make fun of him.

So it turns out he enjoys pj masks.

No I don't. Nearly all toddler stuff is generally mind numbing. Anything made for an older age might be ok, but I wouldn't pretend I don't like it!

RedForShort · 06/08/2019 14:50

(Plus wouldn't be too bothered about the fact no one's replied. MN has been a pain in the nicky nacky noos to post on the last while.)

Shittiestdayinalongtime · 06/08/2019 14:53

I like it!! Not peppa pig though, can't stand the spoilt brat!! But there's certain shows that I will happily watch, with or without the children Grin

Contraceptionismyfriend · 06/08/2019 14:53

I liked deadly 60. But that's the only one I've ever liked.

RosaWaiting · 06/08/2019 14:54

I don’t have children

I do have a lot of childcare for a friend who is a single parent. I really enjoy Nina and the Neurons Grin but the toddler stuff was boring for me. And annoying. Mum says it was much nicer when she was watching it with me, things like Bod and Bagpuss.

But I can’t say either of us watch it unless the friend’s DC is with us!

Saucery · 06/08/2019 14:56

I used to watch My Step Parents Are Aliens, Bear Behaving Badly and Horrible Histories.
Aimed at younger children I used to zone out with BooBar on, very trippy! And there was a really weird one with a little dog creature puppet in it that DS doesn’t even remember - very frenetic and silly. Rosie And Jim too.

Goodnightjude1 · 06/08/2019 14:57

I used to love watching Peppa Pig with dd2....only problem was, she got fed up of it after a couple of weeks so I used to tell her the other channels weren’t working and it was all we could watch 😂😂

I do sometimes have a sneaky watch of Pigeon Street on YouTube...I used to love it when I was little. That and Raggydolls. I might treat myself to an episode or 2 later actually! 😂

LizzieSiddal · 06/08/2019 14:59

When mine were little, yes I loved watching Tots TV, Playdays and Postman Pat. Only with the dc though, not on my own.

bwydda · 06/08/2019 15:01

Ben and holly is good. I enjoy adventure time.

Surely everyone agrees that horrible histories is just brilliant television!

mogtheexcellent · 06/08/2019 15:03

I often watch horrible histories. But then I am an archaeologist.

I used to drop DD off at nursery and then if working from home that day watch Octonauts while eating breakfast. But that was more of a 'can't put anything longer on as I have to start work and it will be distracting' thing. I do like Octonauts though.

PivotPivotPivottt · 06/08/2019 15:04

I love Peppa Pig too. My 7 year old stopped watching a few years ago and now my 2 year old is Peppa obsessed. 7 year also likes the fact she can watch it again and use her sister as an excuse Grin.

I sometimes watch my child hood programmes on YouTube. My favourites were

Tots TV
Rosie and Jim
Wizadora
Alphabet Castle
Playdays
Mr Blobby
Zzapp
Singing Kettle

My daughter thinks they are awful!

Pineapplefish · 06/08/2019 15:04

I used to quite like Woolly and Tig. Not enough to actually watch it without my DC though!

BillywigSting · 06/08/2019 15:05

I love Ben 10, pokemon, yokai watch, the avengers cartoon, adventure time, transformers, horrible histories, the iron man cartoon on Netflix where Tony stark is a teenager.

All of the toddler stuff is utter mind melting drivel though. except the clangers

BillywigSting · 06/08/2019 15:07

The King's and Queens of England song from horrible histories was a very useful revision tool as well as being catchy as hell

MargoLovebutter · 06/08/2019 15:11

Mine are grown up now, but I still remember loving LazyTown (secretly lusting after Sportacus).

I also loved Rollie Pollie Ollie and 64 Zoo Lane.

Tweenies & Balamory used to make me want to pull my hair out in handfuls though!

ohyesivenamechanged · 06/08/2019 15:13

I like Katie Morag
My world kitchen

Carouselfish · 06/08/2019 15:17

I like the stuff I grew up with and I like Duggee as there are funny bits the children don't get. But PJ masks is the same every episode and it definitely doesn't have built in jokes for the parents like some do.

JustDanceAddict · 06/08/2019 15:19

I liked some older kids’ stuff:
Nina and the neurons
Horrible histories
Raven
The next step(?) dance school ‘reality’ one
And not forgetting
Operation Ouch!

DS (15) still watches some football drama - Jamie something? That’s alright! It’s prob his secret from his friends...

Ivysaurus · 06/08/2019 15:19

I LOVE Hey Duggee!

PivotPivotPivottt · 06/08/2019 15:23

I also watched the Disney Channel until I was about 18. Suite Life, That's So Raven, Hannah Montana. In fact I may have watched The Suite Life a few years ago online Grin

EyeDrops · 06/08/2019 15:30

Hell yes! Hey Duggee and My Little Pony both have plenty of little jokes that adults appreciate. Not "adult humour", just little nods and cultural references and funny bits that mean nothing to the kids. I'd happily watch either on my own without dd!

Namechangerextraordinare101 · 06/08/2019 15:44

7 year old DD and I watch Sabrina the teenage witch (the old one, not the one on netflix) every evening before bed. It's our special bit of time together.

ReturnofSaturn · 06/08/2019 15:47

No hate it. So irritating.
