I agree that Amber and Greg hadn’t been together long and part of me does think that she doesn’t deserve it as she was horrid at the start of the series BUT people are allowed to change and we can’t really judge them for the heavily edited bits that we see. Also, she is only 20 and people are different at that age. I would much rather she won than Curtis and Maura!

Joanna Danny and Jourdanne went to a love island final party in Manchester. Most of the the rest of them went to a different final party. Being a rugby player in Limerick is the same as being a soccer player in the UK. It is just a game, nearly all secondary schools have a team. It is different to Dublin or the UK where mostly few paying schools play it. You certainly do not have to be the equivalent of ‘middle class’ (which is just as well as classes don’t exist in Ireland like they go in the UK). Greg seemed like an ordinary, decent guy but as others said he was never tested.

I think Greg and Amber won because it was a fairy story. She was hurt by the wicked Michael and then rescued by the handsome prince Greg. So that is voting for love. Mm and tommy had less of a romcom story, they'd got boring.

Amber won because the show's not just about finding love - but The Guardian article is wrong - what is valued are the people and friendship couples can win.

If Amber and Ovie had stuck as a friendship couple, no-one else would have stood a chance. It was always those two, after Casa Amor.

The Guardian was rright about Tommy and MM, and Maura and Curtis getting way more air time than the others. But it still did not make them more popular. Tommy/MM did not get the popular vote because they were dull. Murtis because Curtis is became such a snake. They didn't have to have to be a long standing couple to win. But they did have to be plausible and interesting.

If there is one relationship I really want to endure for years to come it's the Amber and Ovie friendship, it's bloody golden AND shows you can be friends with the opposite sex without any 'weirdness'...that's what we need youngsters to see.

Unlike others, I do think there is a bit of chemistry between Greg and Amber. They are constantly smiling around each other and he can't keep his hands off her. I hope they do make a genuine go of it. Obviously winning is important but ultimately all the finalists are winners as they will all do well financially. It will be interesting to see if any of the couples make a go of it in real like. I read earlier that Madura and Curtis did not have sex on the villa that they were waiting until they came out.

Correction - Curtis was waiting until they came out the Villa. Maura made it clear her vagina was trobbin and sulked when she didn't get any 😂😂

Agree I think the result this year showed that different types of love and different stories can win - it’s actually really heartening. The islanders chucked the word ‘brave’ around a lot but it was brave of Amber to reject Michael, who she probably still had feelings for, not to mention what she could have perceived as a possible winning ‘reunion’ storyline, for a new thing with Greg. Obviously a lot of people didn’t want her to get back with amicajep but I think it showed that she wasn’t bothered about winning and that’s why people voted for her in their droves. Oh and Greg was lovely and made a point of how she deserved to be treated well, how important it is to be respectful towards women etc which was just so lovely after all the gaslighting hideousness.

Read the Mail interview with Curtis and Maura and they came across well - I wonder if things are a bit more balanced now he knows she’s super popular/credited with carrying the series while people think he’s a snakey twat?
