What do we know about Nick? How old is he?

I would really like to see a timeline of everything that has happened, including, of course, everything leading up to the events in the show. Or should I say, everything before the flashbacks. I'd also like to see a chart of the hierarchy of Gilead, including how many levels, and number of people at each level.

Apologies if that doesn't make sense. Bit of a headache at the moment.

Nick had some back story in the first series so it's hazy in my head now. He wasn't in a good place (petty criminal?) and got drawn in before the revolution, so benefited from his position in the new society compared to his original circumstances.

The selecting 5 Marthas reminded me of a Schindler type situation. I'm sure I've heard of someone else who got away with selecting Jews to pull them out of their fate within the system of ghettos and camps.

C Lawrence is definitely complex and shades of grey. Neither simplisticly "good" nor "bad". It's difficult to tell the motivations for his choices.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 26/06/2019 17:28

Sudowood I've been wondering about that too. Many years ago I read a book called "The Man Who Played God" about a Schlinder type figure (but not Schindler) but I can8t find any trace of it now.

Did anyone notice that Commander Lawrence made a comment about having 'binders full of women'? A snide dig at Mitt Romney there perhaps...

MotherOfSoupDragons · 27/06/2019 09:54

I hope think that CL is playing the part of a Gilead Commander and the misogyny is all for effect.

Do we have a thread for episode 4 yet?

OriginofSpecies · 30/06/2019 20:32

Not yet. I usually start them, but just doing bedtime at the moment, so please go ahead and start a new one for episode 4.

Can someone start a new thread for episode 4? Trying to do it on my tablet but it's playing up.
