I'm finding this episode a bit boring, TBH.

As someone said above, no handmaid would be allowed in a room full of men. Maybe they know Lawrence is a bit 'eccentric' but none of the men batted an eyelid when June walked in. They seem to be moving away from the whole Gilead 'thing'. I guess this is what happens when the TV series takes on a life independent of the book.

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 23/06/2019 21:37

Joxer I took it to mean its tempting to explain things in a human way but a person with no humanity is a psycho. Im worried about this trip!

HigaDequasLuoff · 23/06/2019 21:39

What's a "salvaging" in Gilead speak?

Kitsandkids · 23/06/2019 21:41

Do you think he always wears a scarf because he’s scarred from trying to slit his own throat/hang himself? Or his wife tried?

Kitsandkids · 23/06/2019 21:42

That’s when people throw stones at them isn’t it?

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 23/06/2019 21:42

Thanks zigzag.

I’m worried for Serena. I think she might snap.

Troels · 23/06/2019 21:43

I've recorded it and will watch tomorrow. When Dh isn't around to roll his eyes at it. He wouldn't know good TV if it bit him on the ass.

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 23/06/2019 21:45

I agree joxer - I thought she was going to drown herself

Destinysdaughter · 23/06/2019 21:45

Wow Serena's mother is cold!

Crinkle77 · 23/06/2019 21:45

I thought he was rehearsing that speech too. Creep!

Berrys245 · 23/06/2019 21:48

Salvaging is public execution. One type was hanging where they all hold the rope. And yes there was stoning people to death as well.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 23/06/2019 21:48

Yes Waterford rehearsing his “win back Serena” speech with the woman he has just shagged . Urgh!

Ihatesandwiches · 23/06/2019 21:48

Waterford has been demoted :-) He needs Serena. And she is realising just how trapped she is. Am I right?

Crinkle77 · 23/06/2019 21:49

The salvaging are where they get the handmaids to kill those who have gone against the state.

viques · 23/06/2019 21:51

DOnt get pregnant June!

Kitsandkids · 23/06/2019 21:57

Don’t do it serena!

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 23/06/2019 22:00

Ooh so he's watched her try to kill herself then she's changed her mind and walked straight past him?!

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 23/06/2019 22:00

Serena Sad A proper F you to Fred!

June was swaggering around like lady of the house at the end.

Hope Nick will be ok.

Not sure what to make of this weeks. Looking forward to hearing what you lot thought!

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 23/06/2019 22:01

So did C Lawrence turn a blind eye to June having Nick in her room (for a shag?) or does he really not pay any attention to his house so didn’t realise? I’m not buying that June was afforded so much privacy.

Crinkle77 · 23/06/2019 22:01

viques that's exactly what I said.

Andylion · 23/06/2019 22:01

As someone said above, no handmaid would be allowed in a room full of men

Perhaps these men are so high up, (is there anyone is Gilead with more power?), that they do whatever they like and can be hypocritical without censure?

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 23/06/2019 22:01

I'm glad she said a proper goodbye to nick. I suspect he will pop up again possibly battle damaged in Canada?!

mizu · 23/06/2019 22:01

.

Invisimamma · 23/06/2019 22:02

Just checking in...not sure about tonight's episode at all. A bit boring and too much to read between the lines.

TeaStory · 23/06/2019 22:02

Serena in the water put me in mind of a baptism - is she emerging as a ‘new person’?

Salvaging is where handmaids (& possibly other women) execute someone with rocks or their hands - as well as getting rid of miscreants it provides an outlet for the pent-up aggression so the women don’t get too uppity.

The thing with the hanging and the rope is a particicution.
