and if they don’t get on & couple up when they hardly know each other, they get kicked out & lose their chance for fame & fortune. I just think you have to consider the behaviour in the context of the game & it’s not necessarily a reflection of real life.

Proteinshakesandtears · 18/06/2019 18:29

But this is a competition not real life.

So not a real relationship, so even less of a reason to tell her he hoped she would change.

And I am not the one comparing it to real threads here.

So either you can compare into real life and threads on here. Or you cant, surely?

NewarkShark · 18/06/2019 18:30

In terms of looking out for contestants’ welfare, obviously we are focusing on Lucie and rightly so (victim must always take priority), but let’s not forget there may be an impact on Joe coming out to see headlines in the Sun that he’s an abuser.

I haven’t seen every episode and as said above, clearly missed some relevant behaviour of his so I can’t comment on if this allegation is justified but they shouldn’t leave someone in there to be vilified. If there are genuine grounds to think he is an abuser, get him out for Lucie’s sake but also his own.

fancynancyclancy · 18/06/2019 18:33

So not a real relationship, so even less of a reason to tell her he hoped she would change.

But in his mind if he wants to win, she does have to change. You cannot win unless the housemates also like you.

Proteinshakesandtears · 18/06/2019 18:37

He could have recouped with someone else. No one in the house would have blamed him at that point as they knew he was having doubts.

Trying to change her so he can win, Isnt any better than trying to change her into the girlfriend he wants.

MildredHubble12 · 18/06/2019 18:41

I think Amy's behaviour is quite bitchy and she seems to be isolating Lucie more by making an issue that doesn't need to be there. So what if Lucie wanted to be in her own for a bit the other day and doesn't always want to hang out with the girls. I think I'd find it quite overwhelming in there with all the girls and would want down time on my own. Although I'd never go on the show I suppose.

This is my second year watching and it isn't as entertaining as I thought it would be. Apparently season 3 was the best? Can anyone tell me where I can watch previous series?

Proteinshakesandtears · 18/06/2019 18:46

Just wanted to say, as well, that I do agree Joe shouldnt be vilified either. What he is doing is wrong, imo. But turning him into a monster is not right.

It begs the question, 'why did they show that?'

I am not saying they should have hidden controlling behaviour. But in the interests of both Lucie and Joe, they could have not shown it and removed Joe as they, probably, are doing. Whilst looking after them both in and out of the villa.

I dont think they did it to show this sort if thing isnt ok. They did it because the first incident with him acting likebthatvattracted alot of online buzz.

They didnt show Sherif kicking Molly Mae. Why show this?

fancynancyclancy · 18/06/2019 18:55

Trying to change her so he can win, Isnt any better than trying to change her into the girlfriend he wants.

I never said his behaviour was right, I just don’t think he’s a psycho abuser. I agree with Proteinshakesandtears they have a duty of care to all the contestants even the “bad” ones. Shows like this are always more entertaining if you have hero’s & villains.

Bluntness100 · 18/06/2019 18:59

He could have recouped with someone else

Eh, who? It's not that simple.

I also agree this is going to far in vilifying this man. It's really not ok. This is a game, and they are not in their normal environments, and he is clearly a bit jealous and insecure as most people would be. This demonising him and over playing him to be some form of massive abuser has to stop.

This program is excellent but it will end up having to end because people get hysterical and do things like this, label this man some demonic abuser and try to ruin his life. It's not ok. The behaviour needs to be called out but not grossly exaggerated

Proteinshakesandtears · 18/06/2019 19:01

Yes I said both what you agree with and what you dont agree with.

I never said he was psycho abuser. Just that his behaviour is abusive.

That doesnt mean I think he should be turned into a monster either. Unfortunately, alot of people do act like this in relationships. And I dont think all of them realise what they are doing. They are simply putting their feelings and what they want in front of their partner. Makes them a poor partner, but not always a monster.

I do think it means he shouldnt be on there and I would like to know why they took the decision to show it, rather than just deal with it.

Proteinshakesandtears · 18/06/2019 19:03

Eh, who? It's not that simple.

Course he could. There were 2 girls going to be single at the end of that one.

If he doesnt like how shevis, he could have decided it wasnt for him and recouped with someone else. Rather tell her to change it stay with in the 'hope it gets better'

I am calling out the behaviour and dont believe I am exaggerating. I dont think he should be hung out to dry though either.

fancynancyclancy · 18/06/2019 19:07

I agree with bluntness & think the show won’t last. How can it? If I was Joe or his family I would be very concerned with the press & social media scrutiny.

fancynancyclancy · 18/06/2019 19:10

Also if you look at the Amy situation. All the people accusing her of bullying & sending her nasty messages or saying horrible things about her on social media are they not doing the same?

Bluntness100 · 18/06/2019 19:26

You also couple in all the people complaining to ofcom, what is is now, over eight hundred, and they need to control it and tame it so much it will become simply dull.

This on top of these accusations of being abusive, the terrible trolling the contestants get, people are literally killing the show.

It's highly unlikely joe is an abuser. Even lucies own mother has had to issue a statement saying lucie is happy. Women's aid have had to issue a statement and say joe is only displaying possessive behavuour.

It's crazy and will be the death knell of the show as people get so hysterical.

shutyourlittleface · 18/06/2019 19:32

In my opinion the show is dead already.

Proteinshakesandtears · 18/06/2019 19:33

All the people accusing her of bullying & sending her nasty messages or saying horrible things about her on social media are they not doing the same?

Yes they are the same. Often worse and it's not ok. You can dislike someone and not be horrible to them.

Even lucies own mother has had to issue a statement saying lucie is happy.

Yeah, many women are happy in the early stages of an abusive relationship. I am it saying he is the worst person ever. Simply he is displaying controlling (which is abuse) behaviour.

All the complaints will kill the show. Which again is why I would question why they chose to show this, rather than just deal with it. I don't believe they didnt expect this.

Whisky2014 · 18/06/2019 19:38

If Joe didn't want bad publicity then he should be a controlling abuser which is what he is.

I agree the people going after any are just as bad.

nickymanchester · 18/06/2019 19:39

Tory Leadership: At 20:00 BST five remaining competitors will take part in a live hour-long TV debate

Tory members clearly don't want to miss the more important elimination vote of the day either

LadyWithLapdog · 18/06/2019 20:10

Oh, please don’t kill the mood with images of the Tory boys in their thongs wooing the nation :)

Hebdenbridge · 18/06/2019 20:16

This program is excellent

I think that's stretching it a bit. It's just trashy TV. Wouldn't matter if it was on or not

RozHuntleysStump · 18/06/2019 20:16

Why is it not 9pm yet?

morecoffeealways · 18/06/2019 20:18

Counting the minutes.

HappyPeopleDay · 18/06/2019 20:26

Does anyone else read these threads backwards? How do you mark place without being on the app?

HappyPeopleDay · 18/06/2019 20:27

think that's stretching it a bit. It's just trashy TV. Wouldn't matter if it was on or not.

Except the teens learning about coercive control.

unique1986 · 18/06/2019 20:36

I thought tonight's ep might be extended again.
Nope.
I prefer longer eps as there is more time to show a little bit of natural interactions.
