There was a proposal in series 1. I think the guys name was John but can’t remember the last name now. The girl was a page 3 model I think. It didn’t last long once they got out.

jharrison48 · 18/06/2019 11:58

Hey! I'm new to the discussion. What are everyone's thoughts on Maura? I think she is way over the top and was acting like such a hypocrite in last night's episode. If she is going to be flirting with a man who is coupled up with someone else she can't expect less than for Molly Mae to be angry. What's frustrating is that she can't see that she has done that exact thing to Molly Mae previously!

Strugglingmum73 · 18/06/2019 11:59

I have just seen an article on the Love Island banter page which was taken from the Mirror online that says Lucy has walked. I find anywhere else though.

SlipperOrchid · 18/06/2019 12:05

Oh NO! Joe will stay then!

Lucie needs support from the producers if she is still in there. I hope she gets it.

itswinetime · 18/06/2019 12:07

The vote off happened last night though so it's possible joe was voted out then Lucie walked if the article is true

RainbowPanda · 18/06/2019 12:10

I'll be gutted if she's walked because of Joe.

Bellendejour · 18/06/2019 12:10

The difference is... Maura and Elma are friends. When Maura came into the villa, MM heckled her nastily throughout her dates, called her Morag, then plonked her jacket on her shoulders and declared GIRL CODE. Maura didn’t owe her anything. I don’t think she should be quite as indignant as she is (esp moaning to MM about it or saying she would never do that etc!) but it is different. I don’t get the vibe that Elma really likes anyone, she seems totally disinterested.

TEAM MAURA!

Proteinshakesandtears · 18/06/2019 12:12

I cant even find that on the mirrors website.

I bloody hope she didn't leave with him.

If Joe has already left, he is likely having to face how he has come across. I wonder if he will be on after sun on Sunday.

Proteinshakesandtears · 18/06/2019 12:15

Bellendejour they have known each other a few days. It's not like they are good friends outside.

I dont thinking different. They are all there for the same reason. I do like Maura, but she is being a hypocrite

She pointed out, herself, that she was there to meet someone and that it might suck for Molly. But that's why she went, to get coupled up with someone who she likes.

Elma is only doing the same.

And remember. Maura and Tom arent coupled up. Both are single. Tommy was coupled with Molly Mae.

itswinetime · 18/06/2019 12:15

He will be on aftersun with a pre written speal to minimise what he did and try to redeem himself the producers want 0 issues this year they will make sure of it.

Proteinshakesandtears · 18/06/2019 12:20

itswinetime they need to be very careful. It could across as justifying his controlling behaviour.

It could backfire in a huge way on him and the show.

AliceRR · 18/06/2019 12:21

Anton did say “can I step forward?” for one of the guys, can’t remember which one but might have been Michael.

It was Jonathan and Hannah who got engaged in the first series but it didn’t last.

I agree Maura being annoyed with Elma is not the same as her situation with MM ad Maura and Elma came in together and had a bit more of a friendship and actually I don’t like the way Elma is being.

AliceRR · 18/06/2019 12:22

But then I think it was Maura who said “it’s up to Tommy” when she and MM both wanted him so it’s the same with Tom 🤷🏻‍♀️

nickymanchester · 18/06/2019 12:23

Talking about Joe & Lucie I just noticed this tweet from some random bloke:-

He hasn't physically touched her so how is this classed as abuse.

and it seems that quite a lot of men really just do not get what the issue is.

Although Lucie is going through a really bad time I think it's helpful that this sort of thing is being highlighted in a very popular show so that conversations can take place about these things.

Bellendejour · 18/06/2019 12:32

I’m not saying Maura is being totally reasonable, but I do think it’s different to the MM situation because Maura wasn’t friends with any of the girls at that stage and they were actually pretty horrible to her, shouting stuff from the balcony throughout her dates. Yes Maura and Elma have only been mates a few days but it doesn’t seem like Elma is even bothered about Tom anyway, she doesn’t seem interested in anyone, and is spending her time secretly fantasising about her end goal of joining TOWIE. And MM was in a couple with Tommy but was totally stringing him along while she considered Danny/Anton etc and only CATEGORICALLY decided on Tommy when Maura showed an interest.

So many shades of Love Island grey Grin

@Strugglingmum73 I saw that too, but from reading the comments it would seem it’s fake. It isn’t on any of the official news sites so hopefully it’s not true. I really want Joe to go and Lucie to have a chance at enjoying the villa without him!

itswinetime · 18/06/2019 12:38

*they need to be very careful. It could across as justifying his controlling behaviour.

I agree but so could leaving him to fend for him self in the wake of the shows history with poor aftercare! It will be very carefully done I think but they will do something I think

Bouledeneige · 18/06/2019 12:41

I think Maura is stunning but her tactics don't work - she doesn't give the guy any work to do. But I love watching her because everyone else is so dull. I also like watching Amber - she's not the nicest person but she has a bit of spine and her relationship with Michael looks real. He is cute.

But none of the other girls are very interesting. They literally have nothing to say. Every year we seem to rely on the boys to be any fun or have any personality or energy - the show makes women seem so boring. If all you care about is hair and make up and bitching you don't really have much to contribute.
Molly Mae - silly little girl, Yawunde is boring and under-confident (girl he really aint into you), Amy bitchy and insecure, Anna sulky and dull. Lucie well I thought she was interesting for a while - a free spirit but now she's crying all the time I've lost interest in her. Maybe without Joe she might blossom again - I'm sure more of the boys will chase her. Elma - dull and not very attractive, way too much (bad) work done.

The boys are more mature but there aret many personalities and isn't much fun going on.
Curtis - I get why people say he's gay but I think that might just be the Mummy pleasing world of ballroom. I do like him - he's kind and nice and disapproves of bitching.
Joe - piss off. I liked you at first as the funny sandwich boy but ever since you got sad and jealous I've wanted you to go.
Tommy is thick as shit. I genuinely think he has no clue about anything women or otherwise. Who cant make a cup of mint tea?
Anton seems genuinely shocked he's not the hearththrob he thinks he is. But with a touch of humility and humour he's now growing on me. I didnt pick up the gay vibe.
I cant even remember the name of the dull guy who's with Yawunde. He's not even good looking, he doesn't give a shit about her and has no personality.

The two new guys? Tom is good looking but again, as models, they really have no personality at all.

unique1986 · 18/06/2019 12:46

The ratings are amazing for the series up again on last year.
Just a bit annoying because it's not that good.

shutyourlittleface · 18/06/2019 12:57

It's so annoying! It's really not that good at all. It'll never be as good as series 2 and 3 if the producers keep setting things up too much.

I actually can't believe the total lack of personality in there this year. Anton is growing on me, Curtis is nice but too nice in a way, none of the girls have endeared themselves to me (or anyone it seems) apart from Maura, but she's only getting love now because everyone else is so so dull.

Where are the good looking people with personality?! They do exist because they found them before!

I remember names of past islanders, Terry, Alex, Olivia, Kady, Scott, Sophie, Tom, Malin, Emma, Chris, Amber, Kem etc etc I can barely name this year's islanders and I literally watched it yesterday.

SheStoodInTheStorm · 18/06/2019 12:57

Anton has definitely grown on me too. Can't wait to see who's left tonight! Also hoping for more challengers and games etc, it has been a tad boring so far.

Littlehouse156 · 18/06/2019 12:58

Maura is stunning with her slap on. Not so much without it. I hope Lucie stays. I think she has been treated disgustingly by the other girls and by that idiot Joe. Really wish she had chosen Tommy when she had the chance. He is a bit dim but I think they would have made a good couple and seem to get on really well.

Proteinshakesandtears · 18/06/2019 13:10

So many shades of Love Island grey

I hope dulux introduce this as a new paint colour Grin

I don't think Joe should be left to fend for himself.

But I also dont think an after sun appearance is the best option either.

Its either going to have to be a full and Frank apology (probably with dose of 'I am seeking help') or him distancing himself from love island.

MysweetAudrina · 18/06/2019 13:13

Women’s Aid UK has released a statement regarding Joe Garratt’s behaviour on this season of Love Island.

The Woman's advocacy group believe that the 22-year-old from South East London has shown signs of increasingly “possessive behaviour ” towards Lucie Donlan.

Fraxion · 18/06/2019 13:24

I just don't see the model potential in the new guys, maybe they are photogenic. Maura hasn't done herself any favours but I agree, TV gold. They are quite a wishy washy bunch this year, we need some more big personalities like Maura.
