Maura and and at a push MM are they only ones with any personality in there.
Anton s too serious now.
Curtis playing a part.
All so dull.

unique1986 · 17/06/2019 23:25

I say MM as she likes some drama.
Amber wow so dull.
Lucie is like half a sleep all the time.
Danny and partner may aswell go home.
Amy is ok as far as creating camera time.
Anna not sure why she's there.

itswinetime · 17/06/2019 23:31

Are they told to have their water bottles with them all the time to sell the merch? They always seem to have them in daytime scenes

Totally I think the don't really have a choice they have the insulated hot drink cups and the wine glasses but not much else I think last year they were all drinking tea out of wine glasses!

Yeah the vote closed at 10.30pm as Caroline is/has gone in tonight and the 2 with the lowest have left.

They just seem really immature this year, like really really young and awkward.

I think each year they are more and morse aware of what they do in the villa and how that impacts their long term prospects outside. Take Meghan because of the things she did she struggled to get the same opportunities on the outside as the other girls. On company said while she was in their they wouldn't ever use her to promote their brand. Everyone plays it safer each year! It's the downside of the shows success!

Amibeingnaive · 17/06/2019 23:48

Maura is so self-aware and morally robust she should consider going into politics. She's also got that handy 'treat past transgressions as if they never happened' skill in the bag.

Lucie is your classic 'cool girl', the self-proclaimed tomboy who doesn't get on with girls.

Amy is a brittle Regina George who feels threatened by Lucie.

Amber is a champion shit-stirrer and I love her. I actually think she lacks confidence but talks a good game.

Anna and Yewande are perhaps the only genuinely nice girls in there, with a healthy level of self-respect. For that reason they won't last.

Elma has all the character and intellect of a tin of Spam. She looks like a Fraggle. Whoever did her work should be struck off.

Molly-Mae is another who needs an injection of self-esteem. She's actually carried herself with a bit of dignity throughout the Maura debacle, so it's a shame Tommy will drop her like a bag of hot sick when the next girl walks in.

Yamayo · 17/06/2019 23:59

I don't agree about Anna and Yewandeh bring genuinely nice.
They were only too happy to cast off Lucie after a few snide comments from Amy and Amber.
Someone a while ago called them sheep and I think they were right.

SarahBeeney · 17/06/2019 23:59

I find Anna dull....for someone so intelligent she doesn't have much to say does she?

Also, where is she from? Her accent sounds strange to me.

Yamayo · 18/06/2019 00:01

Anton and Lucie trending on Twitter... Grin

itswinetime · 18/06/2019 00:13

Yamayo. I agree they seem like sheep to me.

Elma heard the bitching and seemed from what we were shown to raise it in as nice way as possible to me. I don't the she was genuine with Anton but I don't think she is s bad person. She had no relationship with anyone but she did the right thinking I think.

I can't read Yewande she hasn't done anything outright, she hasn't helped or made the situation worse from what I have seen so I'm on the fence. She seems a bit bland to me I don't get the love for her.

Anna is older I think she should know better and has been sucked back in to being a mean girl her action the balcony took her down in my estimation she hasn't done anything to come back from that.

Anna and Yewande seem like sheep to me

Hebdenbridge · 18/06/2019 00:24

amibeingnaive I am also about confused over Elma having boys fighting over her.

SlipperOrchid · 18/06/2019 00:26

She sounds just like Una Healy from The Saturdays. I said exactly this to DH. I think its an accent a lot of Irish people who live in the UK seem to have. Relatives of mine speak exactly the same too.

I think the show must have been edited an awful lot to combine all of Maura's flirting to make it seem more outrageous than it was. Yes she obviously said all those things but I wonder in what context and at what time of the day/secret camera etc because she was chatting to Molly Mae as if this wasn't the case and MM was nodding along agreeing with her.

Elma reminds me of Victoria Beckham.

I quite like Anton. He's funny and entertaining. Yewlande is very boring. I think the producers have manipulated it to get rid of Joe. Are there psychologists for the contestants to speak to during the show? And do they get a day off to separate around the island (and check the internet)!?

Totur · 18/06/2019 00:50

So it looks like there is some pressure being put on to ensure Lucie is OK, with Women's Aid commenting also...

itswinetime · 18/06/2019 00:58

I think that is why they split the vote they way they did either Lucie goes home and is removed from the couple or joe does. They obviously feel joe hasn't broken any rules so cent remove him but by splitting the vote this way it ends the situation.

RonaldMcDonald · 18/06/2019 01:19

I read the Lucie situation a bit differently

I think Joe is an abuser. He has isolated her from the others is picking at her and trying to control and erode her
She simply wants to have fun and be happy

The girls don’t get it and I think they are behaving in a way that shows how hurt they are feeling
Amy thought she had a bond with Lucie, that was soured by Joe isolating Lucie and by them declaring their relationship on the same day Amy did. We will never know where that idea was generated but I’d guess. Lucie also tried to address the isolation with Lucie but this was then turned and she became cast as someone who was against the team that is Joe and Lucie.
I think the girls realise there is something odd up but can’t put their finger on it
Lucie and Amy are confused, hurt and lashing out.
I thought Lucie was an arse during the food fight and afterward and was glad Amber called her on it.
I disagree that Lucie isn’t a girls girl we just don’t know all that has been said to her to change her

wontonsoup · 18/06/2019 01:25

I'm 90% sure Joe will be leaving.

OkPedro · 18/06/2019 01:29

slipperorchid Do you live in Ireland or the uk? A longford accent (which Maura has) is very unique. Are there lots of people from longford living near you? People from Dublin/Cork/Galway sound nothing like Maura Grin

SharedBluePlanet · 18/06/2019 06:04

Something very hard faced about Anna - I think she would be one of those chemists that cast a judgmental eye over a request for nurofen plus.

Tommy doesn't want to upset anyone I think he is going along with what he thinks will play out best with the general public. A lovable but soft rogue.

I think Curtis will soon realise he has backed the wrong horse but will try and style it out by trying to help Amy be a better version of herself

desperatehousewife21 · 18/06/2019 06:57

I voted for Elma and Lucie to stay.

Think it will be more interesting to see Elma/ Tom/ Maura triangle!

crustycrab · 18/06/2019 07:04

@Amibeingnaive "Anna and Yewande are perhaps the only genuinely nice girls in there"

To reply to your user name, yes, yes you are. What an absolute pair of vile bitches they were up on that balcony. Anna in particular with her shrieking and nasty comments.

Yewande, when she's not getting involved in making newcomers feel like shit, is a total bore.

sallyscallop · 18/06/2019 07:05

Joe's behaviour is awful, but he's young, he's making relationship mistakes which he will learn from. This is the dangerous thing about Love Island, he will be branded as an emotionally abusive beast - when in reality he may just need his behaviour pointing out to him, learn from it and behave differently in future.

SharedBluePlanet · 18/06/2019 07:11

Seeing a lot of quite nasty pack mentality with the women. Lucie is not playing by the rules of the pack so being sniped at and actually told to get back in line. When she doesn't - they isolate her.

Interesting we are not seeing this from the men. Lot of different personalities in the male group as well but no one being made to feel 'other' or 'weird'. They are actually embracing each other's differences.

It's definitely originating from Amy and Amber I think.

Bluntness100 · 18/06/2019 07:13

It's interesting what folks were saying about lucie and social situations. When spoke to her outside last night and bitched about Elma lucie responded with " I can't believe what they were all saying in there" because she clearly, clearly had no idea what Maura was talking about and was trying to play along. You could see it in her eyes. She had no idea what Maura was talking about even when she was explaining it.

Most folks would have said "what do you mean, what's wrong". But lucie tried to pretend she understood, then tried to pretend she agreed, when you could see in her eyes she was simply confused.

CaptainBrickbeard · 18/06/2019 07:20

I looked on Twitter and agree with sally - I think it’s really important to condemn Joe’s behaviour but not demonise the man. The stuff about Amy on there is painful to read. I can’t imagine what it’s like to come off the island where you have had no idea how you’re being perceived and read that kind of onslaught. People really hate her. It worries me a bit. They all seem very young and earnest and intense and even when they’re behaving like dickheads, I feel a bit protective of them. I wouldn’t have wanted my early 20s relationship behaviour splashed over the media. I wonder if they really understand what they’re letting themselves in for.

SharedBluePlanet · 18/06/2019 07:20

To me that's the most uncomfortable part about it - they are targeting someone who clearly struggles at times in social groups and who just wants people to leave her be to do her own thing.

It is horrible to watch.

CaptainBrickbeard · 18/06/2019 07:22

Bluntness I thought Lucie was struggling to answer because Maura was outraged about Elma doing what Maura had done to MM and Lucie was finding it difficult to respond when Maura was saying things like ‘I’d never do that to any of the girls’ when...she just did, only worse! It was the same when she was venting to MM about it - zero self awareness! But so funny.

Bluntness100 · 18/06/2019 07:47

Captain agree at the end of the conversation but I was watching last night and could see that blank look in her eyes, the thing is she didn't just say what's up, she tried to play along, and got it wrong, it was odd.

I also worry about some of them when they come out. Joe as you said cannot be demonised. Neither should amy.

Although I don't think joe is behaving well. And it's clearly not a race to the bottom. I think his behaviour is due to insecurity and jealousy. He's insecure in how lucie feels about him and worried about her behaviour with tommy. Amy I think is way way worse, I've no clue why she's doing what she's doing, it's so spiteful, and as much as ok, she was annoyed when they got serious, it's now not remotely understandable. Her face when joe picked lucie was really quite disturbing.
