I thought the scenes in Canada were meant to show they were coping with a large number of people who had feld Gilead when first set up as well as those escaping.

So housing would be an issue and people would end up sharing when in other circumstances they might not. Or were creating families for the ones they had lost.

What would have happened to Luke if he hadn’t escaped? As in if he hadn’t tried to escape and they’d just pitched up one day and taken June and Hannah, what would his role have been? Army? Son of Jacob? The Wall? I feel like I know the answer to this but I’m tired and my brain isn’t working properly Blush

Possibly an Eye (like Nick)

AGnu · 21/06/2019 16:53

I'd have thought he'd have been given the choice of the army or the wall. Or possibly just put on the wall - he's an adulterer, after all.

BrienneofTarthILoveYou · 21/06/2019 19:30

I thought the wall too @AGnu

GileadWivesAreFashionIcons · 21/06/2019 19:45

Good point about the adultery @AGnu! I don’t think he has enough about him to be an Eye.

Paintingtheroseswhite · 23/06/2019 10:04

I took a different thing from Cmdr L. I think he is a goodie and knows exactly what is going on, even orchestrating from a high level.

June has had a semi success by bringing the Waterfords down and getting Nicole out so shes now cocky and wants to lead a revolution. She's not atuned to the fact there is a network with established methods. If she stomps in doing her own thing she'll endanger things.

I think Cdr L was teaching her a lesson hence the two "it's your/ her funeral" comments. He's saying "we've got this, help but don't makes things worse it's not about you"

MotherOfSoupDragons · 23/06/2019 11:12

I think Cmdr L (and possibly his wife) is planning something big against Gilead. While he's sympathetic to the smaller scale acts of rebellion by the Martha's and June, he cant afford for them to derail his main objective.

CaptainMyCaptain · 23/06/2019 11:26

I agree with Paintingtheroseswhite and MotherofSoupDragons, he was being harsh to make sure she doesn't blow the whole enterprise by doing her own thing.
