Yes I totally agree about Nico. I initially thought he was lovely but ultimately he was so passive aggressive and a gaslight-ey. I get that their marriage dynamic had changed dramatically but he was still an arse.

I love the way that Eve’s character has developed and changed as her relationship with Villanelle has progressed. It’s all so clever. Can’t wait for S3

LutherRalph1 · 16/06/2019 08:36

Phoebe Waller Bridge wrote the first series and not the second and I think that made a huge difference

dontfluffthefluffer · 16/06/2019 13:04

Agree, there was something less subtle about s2 and you can tell pwb didn't write it. I hope she carries on producing it but gets time to write s3.

Sidge · 16/06/2019 22:17

Finished it all today! Wow, I loved this series. You could tell it had a different writer, it had a very different feel to it. But I really enjoyed it.

Loved the one liners delivered totally deadpan by Carolyn.

Loved the way Villenelle and Eve’s relationship developed, and Eve became more like her and more unpleasant whilst Villenelle actually became more vulnerable. I find it fascinating how she can switch between being so desperate for love and acceptance but as soon as someone rejects her (Konstantin, Eve) she just kills them (or tries to) with no remorse.

I think Hugo was removed as part of the cleaning up - hence why Eve wasn’t overly worried about him. I think she’s also been blinded by her obsession with Villanelle.

Pikapikachooo · 17/06/2019 22:10

It was good

The creepy guy with the poor dementia mum and ‘hotty’ Water bottle in ep 2 Shock

And yes re kenny , in fact all of the cast were very cleverly written

So not PWB , now I want to re watch series 1 again

Pikapikachooo · 17/06/2019 22:13

Also clever how they make me want her to kill some people
Hot water bottle man
That OW (sorry Blush)
And even her ‘mercy killing’ In episode 1

dontfluffthefluffer · 18/06/2019 01:14

I'm still loving when she saw the lollipops for children in the hospital and then said "stickers" like they were the most amazing prize. It really hinted at her childlike persona possibly where she's emotionally stuck in from trauma in her past (I'm possibly reading too much into a whimsical funny part though 😳).

RosaWaiting · 18/06/2019 01:20

I loved it

Am I the only person who thinks Eve just sees Hugo as collateral damage?

It’s fascinating to watch Eve and Villanelle affect each other. The scenes where they were clearly missing each other really got me. Will they just morph into each other? Amazing. Has anyone read the books?

Always thought Nico was pointless and just there to illustrate a slightly boring side to Eve.

SoonerthanIthought · 18/06/2019 15:59

Did we learn why Aaron Peel was having everyone associated with the company killed off? I can see why he needed to kill some of them, to get ownership of the company - but why the secretary?

Also - the bags Villanelle had delivered to her at the hotel - surely these days you have to pay online by credit card in advance? Some suspension of belief required that they would have delivered for cash on delivery!!

LadyKylieShagworthy · 18/06/2019 21:21

Loved both series, especially the first.
The way the characters have developed reminded me of "Thelma and Louise".

iklboo · 18/06/2019 21:25

I thought she did buy them on a credit card? Raymond was quizzing her about it - and she'd asked the hotel porter how her room was paid for and to put the shopping in that?

MsTSwift · 18/06/2019 21:30

Yes when she killed the man trying to use prostitutes I thought “good serves him right” and was slightly horrified at myself!

Tonkerbea · 18/06/2019 21:45

Disappointed in s2, it really lacked the sparkling PWB effect

GreenDragon75 · 18/06/2019 21:49

Just binge watched s2 and I loved it. Didn’t think it could improve on S1 but I really liked it. You have to suspend disbelief somewhat- no explanations of some of the storyline but still really good.
Loved Julian Barrett’s episode but seemed a bit random.
I just liked how the characters developed.
I read somewhere that they rarely met each other filming the first series so I really liked that they were together so much in this one.
Can’t wait for series 3 and yes Carolyn is awesome.

SoonerthanIthought · 18/06/2019 22:17

Ah iklboo yes Villanelle did say that to Raymond (about putting the clothes on the hotel card) but I thought when the receptionist came up to her room with the bags, he said someone was waiting downstairs to be paid and Villanelle said 'put it on the room card'.

Not the most unrealistic part of the series, I admit!

RosaWaiting · 18/06/2019 23:11

I thought the killing of the brothel client was superb.

FloofyHeckonChonker · 19/06/2019 07:21

I love the mundane being mixed with the madness such as Carolyn asking that Pointless be recorded and Villanelle watching Jeremy Kyle. Grin

My friend was astounded and thrilled to see that one of the quirky fabrics she sells made into pyjamas for Villanelle. The production team ordered nearly all of it.

BellMcEnd · 19/06/2019 07:40

I’ve just read that there’ll be another new writer for series 3 - Suzanne Heathcote. I hope the production team stays the same.

JessMariano · 19/06/2019 13:37

Apparently Phoebe WB changes things as they go along eg it was only seeing Kenny and Carolyn together on set that she decided to make them mother and son. And with Konstantin, I think he was supposed to have a smaller part til she saw the chemistry between him and Villanelle.

DorisDaisyMay · 21/06/2019 17:19

Hello, just jumping in to say the usual

  1. Loved it
  2. Villenelle’s outfits!!!
  3. Amazing acting

But, I thought season two was much better overall in terms of the quality of the script, the restraint in developing the relationships and overall pace.

Season 1 episodes 1 and 2 were captivating but I felt the fascination between E and V should have been given longer to brew. Instead them meeting in Episode 3 fast forwarded felt hammy. I thought the writer on season 2 was able to create depth to their warped dysfunctional co-dependency in a much more nuanced way. I enjoyed the push/pull complexity of the different characters.

I did wonder was I able to distance myself from the violence because it’s a female character perpetrating it and so on a level I don’t really ever fully suspend my disbelief. I said to my husband if that had been a male character performing violence like that I would have turned it off ages ago. So, just pondering on that really .....

GreenDragon75 · 23/06/2019 07:43

A bit I have just remembered that didn’t make sense- why did she kill the young bloke in the car wash? Very violent and bloody and I can’t recall what happened afterwards?
It was mid way through.

Thymeout · 23/06/2019 08:24

Wasn't the bloke in the car-wash a contract hit when Villanelle and Konstantin were working for themselves as Killers R Us? I think V complained that it was boring when the victims weren't high-profile like The Twelve targets.

Series 2 felt rather slow compared with the first one. Not as quirky or playful. I'm not that interested in Eve's descent into psychopathy. It's not Breaking Bad. One of the best bits in Series 1 was just looking at the expressions on the two leading characters' faces and in this one there was too much of V being miserable and E being hysterical. Some of the scenes - like the hospital and the school - seemed to go on for too long.

Susiesoap7 · 23/06/2019 10:03

Just love it!
One minute I want to be villanelle then I want to be Eve.

womaninthedark · 23/06/2019 10:06

Urgh. Watched both series, don't like it. Love the clothes. Love them.

cloud1183 · 23/06/2019 14:32

I love this so much. I have to confess I don’t always know what is happening regarding Carolyn and Konstantin and which side they are on but I guess the writers want us not to know. Love Villanelle so much and Jodie Comer deserves so much praise. Can’t wait for S3 now. I have a feeling MI6 May end up recruiting Villanelle to help them like they did with the Peel mission.

I also don’t believe Eve is dead for one minute. Maybe S3 will be an angry Villanelle trying to get her revenge on Eve for spurning her advances
