It's here.

Eight seasons of love, hate, family, battles, history, mystery, myth and legend.

After laying waste to Kings' Landing, what next for Daenerys? Does destiny feel good when you kill thousands of innocents to reach it?

I will really miss these characters and their stories. Epic, must-watch television is rare. Will we ever see its like again?

And now our watch is ended.

I don't understand why people think Jon was badly done to. He was always going to go north of the wall, that's why the lords and ladies suggested it. And it's where his heart is. Tormund basically said as much the other week when they did their goodbyes.

I've spent most of GOT thinking Bran was a shit character and wanting him to be painfully disposed of, but I quite enjoy little stoner dickhead Bran that we've had this series. It was hilarious when he did that line about the things we do for love to Jaime. The bitch. I look forward to him continuing to be fucking random at important state occasions.

Honeyroar · 20/05/2019 16:36

I loved it. I've loved the whole series.

Particularly loved-
Just about every Tyrion moment, especially him uncovering his brother in the rubble (yes he wasn't very far down, but come on, we only had 90 minutes!) and him persuading ever so dumb "but she's my queen" Jon into seeing the light. Ygritte didn't know how on the ball she was with her "you know nothing, Jon Snow". And shutting Greyworm up (gets promoted by Dany and made himself acting decision maker when she died!).

Jon killing Dany. I almost thought he'd caved in to her for a moment, even wondered if she'd killed him for a moment. He'd watched his previous love die in his arms, this time it was at his hand.

Drogan. Poor Drogan. I actually wanted to give the brute a cuddle! I'd love to know what was really in his head when he burned the throne. Poor Dany, she didn't even get to sit on the throne.

Brienne writing Jaime's instalment- I was half expecting "loved by Brienne of Tarth", but I guess she thought herself inconsequential in his life. I don't think she was.

Bron ending up King (I never thought I'd say that!) combined with Tyrian as the hand.

Bits I didn't like -
Sansa selfish bitch not backing her brother as King (she thought she was going to be voted queen and was gutted when everyone said Bran). She even had to invent herself a title and make herself a crown. I've hated her for 90% of the whole of GOT. Apart from feeling sorry for her during her marriages she's been a self centred greedy cow. But fantastically acted!

Greyworm needed pulling down a peg or two. I hope his boat sinks!

Bronn - who in their right mind would make him Master of Coin! And why give him High Garden? He didn't help in either battle, he didn't deserve it.

Ditto Yara, who hid during the battles and then came over all judgemental of Jon.

Wasn't sure about Jon being banished North to pacify Greyworm and Yara. Surely once they'd sailed off they could let him sneak back! And does the Blackwatch really need such stringent rules - Sam and Jon both worked very hard for the Watch while having girlfriends. Fantastic to see the reunion with Ghost and Tormen though.

Not sure about Ayra travelling, but hey ho. I'm amazed so many of my faves survived. My only majorly sad losses were Jaime and Theon.

Anyway, that's that. It's been the most amazing series, I've adored it, been thoroughly hooked and boring about it. Hats off to everyone involved. You can't please everyone, but you did me.

Now what to watch on tv?

ThisIsTheEndgame · 20/05/2019 16:39

@RussianSpamBot I was happy with where everyone was left but now I want to see a GoT short with Bran at some massive ball or conference being weird as fuck at all the lords and ladies, that would be amazing Grin

RussianSpamBot · 20/05/2019 16:42

I'm annoyed that Pod survived. Most people seem to agree that they didn't kill enough first and second tier characters at Winterfell for it to be at all plausibly GOT rather than Hollywood. Most of the survivors had some role to play in the next two episodes, so I can see why the likes of Grey Worm, Missandei, Varys and to some extent Gendry had to be saved (although his arc was a bit pointless after shagging Arya so tbh I think he could've been offed). But Pod, ffs. He did nothing. He should've been offed at Winterfell. Maybe even so should Tormund, and I love Tormund.

HBO if youre reading, you can have this as a spin off series idea for free!

Honeyroar · 20/05/2019 16:44

If people thought Jon wanted to go to the wall (which I can understand) why did he look so bloody miserable en route. It looked like a punishment. He only lightened when he saw Tormund and Ghost. At least he finally washed his hair though. He'd gone a bit OTT with the hair gel while with Dany!

SweetSummerchild · 20/05/2019 16:47

why did he look so bloody miserable en route

To be honest, I haven’t seen him wear anything other than his ‘miserable’ face since he was resurrected.

SweetSummerchild · 20/05/2019 16:48

Didn’t Jon always want to be First Ranger? Well, now’s his chance....

RussianSpamBot · 20/05/2019 16:53

I thought he was miserable because he'd had to kill Dany, having played a significant part in the circumstances that allowed her to wipe out Kings Landing. A bit of a traumatic couple of weeks he'd had. I may be wrong. But he's not exactly the happiest camper at the best of times!

NunoGoncalves · 20/05/2019 16:54

If people thought Jon wanted to go to the wall (which I can understand) why did he look so bloody miserable en route

Maybe cos he just found out his gf was his aunt and then she slaughtered thousands of children in front of his eyes and he had to stab her in the chest while telling her he loved her?

Coolcoolcoolcoolcool · 20/05/2019 17:02

Bronn, shut the fuck up and let Sam finish a sentence. Yes! And everyone else too no business actually got done at that small council thanks to Bronn and his bantz 🙄.

Jerome Flynn is great but that character was played out 2 seasons ago.

agirlhasnonameX · 20/05/2019 17:05

Apparently one of the endings they cut was a shot of Jon in the North finding one of the WW symbols. Would have been quite cool.

CodenameVillanelle · 20/05/2019 17:07

He didn't want to go to the wall - but when he got there he realised the night's watch no longer existed. Who's going to enforce him staying at castle black? Not Sansa.

BlackCatSleeping · 20/05/2019 17:15

Bronn was way more sinister in the books. I kind of think the producers kept him in the series just to annoy Lena Headly.

I didn't recognise Robin Arryn at all. He looked good.

I hope Meera is doing ok. I would have liked to hear more about her people. Hopefully there will be more in the books. So, come on George!! I'm sure he must be well into them by now.

IHeartArya · 20/05/2019 17:20

That’s interesting * I wonder what else they cut.

IHeartArya · 20/05/2019 17:20

RuffleCrow · 20/05/2019 17:23

I don't buy Yara being so set on Jon Snow's death.

He was her brother's best mate. They fought alongside each other til the bitter end. She'd agreed a 'better world' with Danaerys and I don't suppose that included razing a city to the ground. Also, Sansa and Theon were really close, that would have counted for something, surely?

I guess they had to have someone besides Grey Woem being pissed off about Dany being dead tho...

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 20/05/2019 17:23

Am I wrong in thinking that Jon's ending was him choosing not to stay in Castle Black in the Night's Watch but moving north for good, with the wildlings, to become a kind of King-Beyond-the-Wall, a la Mance Rayder? So leaving all the politics and so on behind and returning to where he was happiest?

RussianSpamBot · 20/05/2019 17:27

Yes that was it TheOnlyLivingBoy.

agirlhasnonameX · 20/05/2019 17:30

That’s interesting I wonder what else they cut.
That's the only one I've heard, but supposedly there where a multitude of choices for the ending.

itswinetime · 20/05/2019 17:35

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross

I'm not sure because he was still wearing the black wasn't he? I think if he was leaving it behind forever he would have been dressed like the free folk. I do think he will be spending most of his time off north of the wall but I'm not sure he has completely turned his back on being lord commander. I guess it's open to interpretation though.

I'm relieved there was no are the white walkers still a thing question mark because that would have made the whole night king plot even more pointless to me.

Ginger1982 · 20/05/2019 17:49

I think there were a few extra scenes they could have fitted in, namely:

  1. Someone finding out Jon killed Dany? Someone coming in and seeing her body? Are we just supposed to accept that, given Drogon took her away, Jon just went outside and confessed?

  2. Jon deciding to leave Castle Black and head north with the Wildlings. I didn't actually realise what he was doing until I rewatched the scene a couple of times. Especially after Ayra told him she wouldn't visit CB. It might have been nice for a scene with Tormund where he said 'come with us' or something like that.

RJnomore1 · 20/05/2019 18:14

So in my head

Episode 1 series 9:

Drogon stands over Santa corpse and goes full Dracsrys on her. The knife melts and falls from her. Suddenly she sits bolt upright and her eyes snap open...only they are red...

RJnomore1 · 20/05/2019 18:15

Shall I try again

Dany’s
Dracarys

BlackCatSleeping · 20/05/2019 18:23

I think the final scene is open to interpretation, but I read it as Jon had become Lord Commander again, but basically there was no one to command as yet, so he decided to lead the Wildings back to their homes with Tormund as it was now safe to do so.

I loved that he almost smiled at the end but didn't. He definitely relaxed the grimness a little though.
