I have to confess to having looked through what songs I've liked in recent years, France feature a lot! I do like Bilal's song. And its refreshing to see a gay man who feels comfortable being feminine. It almost seems different these days!

I think Azerbaijan is a good ear worm. Russia's is cracking, but its not as strong as Sergey Lazarev's last entry in 2016 (Which probably should have won). I confess to Norway being a guilty pleasure, but I think it'll bomb tonight. I think the Netherlands is massively overrated (its supposed to be one of the favs).

Loads tonight I'm looking forward to.

And Ireland. What the fuck were you thinking?

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 16/05/2019 18:45

Oh I hope so sunny, 2nd rehearsal sounded slightly better.

RedToothBrush · 16/05/2019 18:51

Bookies Favs are in this order

Netherlands
Sweden
Australia
Russia
Italy
Iceland
Switzerland
Azerbaijan

And that's probably pretty fair (though I just don't get the love for Netherlands)

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 16/05/2019 18:53

Azerbaijan is my go to Geography Pointless answer, along with Nauru and Cote d'ivoire. Grin

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 16/05/2019 19:03

Thanks red, yes Russia's 2016 entry was memorable - for reasons best known to myself I deemed it to be macbethy - I think it was the Thunder and Lightning It's getting exciting line! I like Scream though, tis more subtle.
There used to be a pro Trump poster on here a couple of years back that claimed they could always predict the winner based on government policy twonks or something equally batshit. Wonder where they are now.

RedToothBrush · 16/05/2019 19:04

Don't tell me it wasn't Cleg was it?

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 16/05/2019 19:06

Sweden sounds a bit generic but then again I said that about Austria last year and Cesar Sampson did really really well.

RedToothBrush · 16/05/2019 19:15

Yeah, I thought the same about the Swedish entry. I have a feeling it might under perform actually. Cesar Sampson's song was DS's fav last year (he's 4 now) and I didn't get it, but he certainly picked up on something.

He's said Slovenia (!!!!) is his favourite so far and he got that right, as I didn't get that either and didn't think it would qualify. He has also been singing Czech Republic and San Marino but I don't think either is a big surprise.

He's a strange child.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 16/05/2019 19:16

She (he?) was called Claig, talked about wonks (not twonks although they could be the same thing) a lot! Were they banned or did they disappear [does a Like that he was gone Kaiser Sose impression] they were very right wing but could never decide if they were being goady, trolling or recruiting!

Itssosunny · 16/05/2019 19:18

Bookies are wrong Grin

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 16/05/2019 19:18

Bless- A four year old Mini-Serhat singing na na na in a hat with Mr Serhat would get my vote albeit might look a bit Michael Jackson-y

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 16/05/2019 19:22

Who's your money on Sunny from your favourites?

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 16/05/2019 19:24

Ah sorry, you've said Oz. If they do win, which of the big five should host on their behalf?

RedToothBrush · 16/05/2019 19:25

Claig, yes thats who i meant. Got banned. Which was somewhat unsurprising.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 16/05/2019 19:26

Sorry monologuing again. According to wiki, Germany gets to co-host if Australia win and UK is back up if Germany declines.

Itssosunny · 16/05/2019 19:30

Sergey Lazarev's last entry in 2016 (Which probably should have won).
Seriously?

OP posts:
RedToothBrush · 16/05/2019 19:31

Yes really. I liked it. Great performance.

I hated the winner. Unpopular opinion, but hey ho.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 16/05/2019 19:35

I wouldn't have remembered their name, had you not said Clegg first red i just went back to her 2016 thread -god bless, if I had a piece of Cake for every time she said wonk over five pages I'd be diabetic.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 16/05/2019 19:40

Nah I hated 1944 too but not as much Claig who thought it was a wonkist conspiracy against Russia Grin

Itssosunny · 16/05/2019 19:43

Who's your money on Sunny from your favourites?

Need to hear live all songs. The studio versions can differ a lot from the live performances.

Netherlands (Very good but feel sad when listening to it)
Sweden (no)
Australia (Oh, yes)
Russia (no)
Italy (cool)
Iceland (very cool)
Switzerland (catchy)
Azerbaijan (love his video)

Oh, who knows what will happen tonight and on Saturday but there are a few very good performers deserving to become a winner.

OP posts:
RedToothBrush · 16/05/2019 19:59

Here we go!!!!

Raahh · 16/05/2019 20:00

Evening, again!

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 16/05/2019 20:02

My top 8 in alphabetical order are

Australia
France
Iceland
Italy
Netherlands
Norway
San Marino
Switzerland

so 5 are currently betting favourites anyway whilst Serflat won't actually win the thing, Norway is an acquired taste and France might be deemed by some to be too virtue signally.

But you are right - it all comes down to live performance on Saturday

Yay! Just pigged pizza and choc cake. Cuppa Brew and we're off!

Rhubarb01 · 16/05/2019 20:03

Evening all. Back for more punishment!

AutumnCrow · 16/05/2019 20:03

Shalom!!
