We have some lovely occasional posters who have lived in Korea, are Korean or have Korean partners/family members who pop in from time to time to provide the context for some of the more baffling cultural references.

We have a few frequently used acronyms:
FL/2FL = female lead/2nd female lead
ML/2ML = male lead/2nd male lead
SLS = Second Lead Syndrome (where the FL/MLis too thick to realise how much better the 2ML/2FL is)

We also abbreviate titles if they’re long, but usually only after using the full title & acronym together. Some of the regular favourite actors have been abbreviated too for speed/efficiency, although “him off Black” seems to have stuck for Song Seung-Heon. Don’t be afraid to ask for help/clues if we’re not making sense or have descended into acronym soup.

Late night last night with Touch Your heart... 1.30am.... It's been soooo sweet and i really love how this relationship is growing and excited at the fact there's grittier stuff to come.... !
Want to finish it now so might stack up HPL's and Secret Life Of My Secretary and finish Touch Your Heart.... and I really want to finish Wok Of Love...

What do you make of Lee Dong Wook in Touch Your Heart? 'Cos he does nothing for me, although I like him as an actor.

I do like all the office staff in Touch Your Heart, especially the lawyer who is constantly crushing on someone and who plays the sister in My Fellow Citizens

Bettys... HH KJW.... hmmmm there are moments....like when he started unbuttoning his short I got a little flustered but I find his cheekbones to cheekboney! But I get where you're both coming from .... you'll just have to fight with Boatyard in the pub!

LDW in Touch Your Heart... the haircut is a baaaad cut.... but i suppose it sort of fits in with his character.... it's amazing how hair can completely change the look of a person....from this....

haircut wise... thought the same about Ahn Jae Hyun too.... not much love for him in Blood (though I liked the drama!) but then in Beauty Inside!

I’m not sure of all of our ages, but our discussions occasionally scream perimenopausal sex surge to me. 😂 If we ever manage to sort out that pub meet, we’ll have to behave.

Right I am confused.....I thought One Spring Night was supposed to be the ML & FL from SITR but was watching ep 1 & realised I didn't like FL, checked on IMdB and it's not the one from SITR but from Radiant/The Light In Your Eyes. I'm not convinced by it so far, seems a little joyless.

Bettys! Oh no! That's what I was afraid of.... Something in the rain was too quiet and understated for me! Even though I recognise kdrama can be a little "out there" at times... I don't mind a little toning down... But I don't want sombre real life!! 😱😳😭

It’s not Jung Hae In’s aka cute cop from While You Were Sleeping fault, he is as endearing as ever. The FL just sucks the joy out of things - she was the same in Radiant and Familiar Wife

I agree it was rather muted, but I’m going to give it the benefit of another couple of episodes. Jung Hae In is good in roles like this and I just assumed the FL was playing it that way because her relationship and life are joyless/flat. I liked the emotional weight and honesty of SITR.

Yes lovely - that look! But - pyjamas? Really?

I know! Fancy depriving us of a glimpse of HH KJW! I’ve noticed hideous pyjamas are a thing. It’s the same in My Fellow Citizens - Siwon and his lady love snuggling up in bed in their pensioner PJs. Surely mortals’ pyjamas would combust on the likes of HH KJW and Siwon? I can only conclude it’s some kind of watershed requirement: the bed scene can stay, but only if both parties are wearing the unsexiest pyjamas known to man.

HPL airs at 9pm though 🤨 In fact the only dramas that spring to mind where full pyjamas weren’t worn in bed are Healer and Suspicious Partner which both happen to have Grrr JCW in....

This ^ Very much this. 😆 I am saving it for the weekend.

I got wildly excited because I saw this in on a sign in the pharmacy in One Spring Night and correctly sounded out the word and got its meaning: 비타민 (bitamin = vitamin). It helps that its a loan word from English, but it felt like a small triumph. 👌

I’m enjoying Jung Hae In in One Spring Night.

Did I mention that I added the Hangul keyboard to my phone so I can switch between the two? It’s fun being able to bash in the Hangul letters and watch the predictive text correctly stack them into syllables. 😀
