We have some lovely occasional posters who have lived in Korea, are Korean or have Korean partners/family members who pop in from time to time to provide the context for some of the more baffling cultural references.

We have a few frequently used acronyms:
FL/2FL = female lead/2nd female lead
ML/2ML = male lead/2nd male lead
SLS = Second Lead Syndrome (where the FL/MLis too thick to realise how much better the 2ML/2FL is)

We also abbreviate titles if they’re long, but usually only after using the full title & acronym together. Some of the regular favourite actors have been abbreviated too for speed/efficiency, although “him off Black” seems to have stuck for Song Seung-Heon. Don’t be afraid to ask for help/clues if we’re not making sense or have descended into acronym soup.

Ginger! This crazy TV watching (for me!) all started with Good Morning Call... And then Strong Girl Bong Soon and the rest is history!... I don't think I've watched proper telly since before Christmas! 😂😱😳😳... We three B's (Boatyard, Bettys and me!)... All agree on Healer! It's THE one we all hopelessly enjoyed... But then again... Don't watch as Ji Chang Wook is already in huge demand! 😂😂
Yes the wrist grabbing etc does seem very... 🤔🤔🤔😱... But you balance it out by the gratuitous shower scenes (boatyard abs Bettys can spot them a mile off!... And how easily the majority of kdramas pass the Bechdel Test! 👍👍
Teacake.. I started Cleaning... As it's got the lovely brother from Pinnochio in / ML from The Rebel... But haven't got very far... I should give it another go!
At the moment started Legend of The Blue Sea with Jun Ji Hyun (FL)... Good rec Bettys! Looks fun!! 😂

Damn! I was hoping Her Private Life would have been further along by now - 80% is not enough, as I think the dialogue will be more important this week.

Oh yes, I have to say that whilst I enjoyed Healer I still think the behaviour is stalkerish. I think Healer could have made sone sensible improvements to his freezing warehouse to make it more habitable, like putting a large tent over his bed so he could heat his sleeping area more easily. However, I understand that would be less televisual than his giant bed mounted on a raised dias (sp?).

Pyjamas!!! How can KJW even make pyjamas look good? Not a spoiler by the way

No Vikki, just Netflix here. I don't think I could keep up with you all anyway!

I tried to tempt dd with Strong Girl but she looked the look of Boys Over Flowers, which is ok but is really dragging on and some episodes seem to jump around or have no scripting. ML1 does some awful stuff but after kidnapping FL he gave her a makeover and new clothes and took her to his private island and she seemed to forgive him. We are rooting for ML2 though who is nice and kind.

Will have to watch Healer.

Deffo give SGBS a go!... (others would disagree! 😱😱)... But if you ignore the bonkers gangsters storyline.. The romance is sooooo luverly! And the 2 leads are so ooooo cute! 😍😍😍😍... ML... Park Hyung Sik is yummy! And Park Bo yung is me (I wish!... I'm short but that's about it! 😭)

. Healer had to stay in the freezing warehouse!... So he could snuggle up to park min yung when she visited... And how else was he going to show his fine knitwear!... And GRR JCW knows he looks good if we can see he's breathing hard!... Plus!.. It was a metaphor for his tortured angst!... A literal representation of his ice cold frozen demeanour... Until he melted when PMY came for snuggles!.... 😂😂😂😂😂😂

I really didn’t like Boys Over Flowers but rather enjoyed Meteor Garden which is the same story but updated & set in Shanghai. The MLs are just bullies!

I needn’t have worried about the subs. The non verbal communication is doing a LOT of the heavy lifting. 😄

Though the excessive formality helps to reinforce the NVC.

Ooooh no!! I can’t be doing with Lee Min Ho although he is ok in Legends of the Blue Sea. I think it was Boys Over Flowers that put me off him. He is not a patch on Grrr JCW.

Have you had the flashbacks to the young Joseon era boy? It is the ML from Psychometric 😉

Not watched Boys.. And from what you say I'll prob steer clear.... Oh no JCW will always be the centre of my kdrama universe... (with LJS and PHS!...)... But.... Lee min ho is quite lovely in this!! 😍😁
