We have some lovely occasional posters who have lived in Korea, are Korean or have Korean partners/family members who pop in from time to time to provide the context for some of the more baffling cultural references.

We have a few frequently used acronyms:
FL/2FL = female lead/2nd female lead
ML/2ML = male lead/2nd male lead
SLS = Second Lead Syndrome (where the FL/MLis too thick to realise how much better the 2ML/2FL is)

We also abbreviate titles if they’re long, but usually only after using the full title & acronym together. Some of the regular favourite actors have been abbreviated too for speed/efficiency, although “him off Black” seems to have stuck for Song Seung-Heon. Don’t be afraid to ask for help/clues if we’re not making sense or have descended into acronym soup.

• I met a lovely Korean woman last week who confirmed that Korean doesn’t have an ‘r’ sound in the way we use it, so it is ppalli. That also explains the Lion’s nickname.

Legend of the Blue sea... I'm loving it!
I love the beginnings of each episode with the parallel past story... And then the epilogues are great fun... Also the poking fun at the tropes of kdrama are really funny!
I have to say.. Lee min ho is this is scrumptious! And jun ji Hyun playing the mermaid is great! Playing crazy innocent weirdo!

Ep 10 of HPL was 👌 - perfecto! Great reveal at the end too. It’s such a sure-footed, well-written series. It’s still my favourite thing on telly just now.

Haha I hadnt noticed that, no just a coincidence . I have looked at your threads before but I don't manage to watch as much as you ladies. Partly because I have to concentrate too much in order to read the subtitles sometimes I am too tired for that.
