We have some lovely occasional posters who have lived in Korea, are Korean or have Korean partners/family members who pop in from time to time to provide the context for some of the more baffling cultural references.

We have a few frequently used acronyms:
FL/2FL = female lead/2nd female lead
ML/2ML = male lead/2nd male lead
SLS = Second Lead Syndrome (where the FL/MLis too thick to realise how much better the 2ML/2FL is)

We also abbreviate titles if they’re long, but usually only after using the full title & acronym together. Some of the regular favourite actors have been abbreviated too for speed/efficiency, although “him off Black” seems to have stuck for Song Seung-Heon. Don’t be afraid to ask for help/clues if we’re not making sense or have descended into acronym soup.

I watched to the end without subs Betty, so I know in broad brush terms who was/wasn’t still standing but I don’t feel I have enough context to discuss.

Ep 1 of Abyss on Netflix done. Not quite sure about it yet

Is Bong Soon woman playing a straight role? If so, what’s she like?

Also, Abyss says its teen rated. Is the first episode family viewing?

think i'm going to wait till all of Abyss up.... I have no patience...

storming through Are You Human on www1.fastdrama.me it's really touching and endearing... really enjoying it and am keeping my fingers crossed for a good ending!!!! Will prob finish tonight....

Also Confession is really really good... courtroom/police drama... some interesting debates about the Double Jeopardy ruling and also Ep 3 last night made me gasp!!! a twist! (you would have thought I was used to them by now!!!!) but it dropped out of nowhere and I'm thoroughly thoroughly intrigued now!!!!

This is the same streaming site that gave me all the boobs. Weird.

Depends on the age of your family.......there are scenes with dead bodies & operations & there's a serial killer mystery but the theme is fantasy & it's quite humorous. Tiny ghostess strong woman only appeared in the last 10 minutes but had some sobbing to do though there will be comedy later I think.

I am rewatching bits of Prison Playbook - pure quality.

Oh my Betty, you are JKH spiralling hard. Although I’ll admit to wanting to watch that romcom one (Happy Once Again) to see him smile. Life on Mars is really, really good - just finished ep 8 with the scenes in the cement factory and railway tracks & not really sure where it’ll take me next, but it is quality stuff.

Confession is good and Lovely Eyes Junho is lovely and there’s even a white truck of doom!

Boatyard, I do think JKH is versatile and watching his dramas back to back just highlights this.
Slightly concerned that he has clown feet in Missing Nine So needed to go back to Prison Playbook to check

Bettys... It's good! So many plots scattered all over the place! A lot of gasping and furrowed brows galore!!

. Need to finish Are You Human first! (which just makes me swoon because it's soooo sweet yet full of possible heartbreak!)

If Are You Human ends in heartbreak I may not start it...

In Confession I'm wondering whether Madame Jin is either his mum, his heart donor's mum (assuming that's what the scar is), or more likely something I haven't even thought of, this being kdrama. I like that they seem to be developing a Scooby gang vibe.

I’ve just started Love & Marriage as a dippy-toe taster. The FL is a total ball-breaker anchor woman and I kind of like it. We’ll see.

Interestingly, it’s coming from the POV of her having to put up with previous male anchors bawling her out about women “taking men’s jobs” and is already commenting on falling marriage rates, patriarchy on the slide and what it means for society, but but but the whole theme is about FL deciding to go it alone and have a baby on her own. Jury’s out whether it eyerolls & ends up treading “women always come back to wanting babies” territory.

Swerve. The bloke I’ve assumed to be the ML has ripped abs, but he’s such a dweeb. If the erstwhile babydaddy is the totally unappealing food writer. It’s tragic casting.

I have had a quick look at some reviews and seems to be a marmite drama, so will wait till you get a bit further in before taking a look.

Have to say neither of the male leads are appealing on first sight

I am shallow too. If I am going to invest 20 hours of my time in a series, it needs to fulfil a number of perfectly reasonable criteria and “pleasing to watch leads” is one of them. I might watch another 10 min tonight to be sure, but I’m 98% certain this one is not for me.
