When Kate went to east Mids in Series 3 to get authorisation to run an undercover op against fellow AC-12 officer. Dot was never mentioned .....

TedsFederationRep · 27/04/2019 16:55

That's true, northumberlandlass, but a later episode, when Kate was interviewing Dot, she revealed that she had been to Superintendent Summers at AC3 to obtain authorisation to investigate him. It was tricky for her at the time because she was a DS and (from memory) Dot was already a DI, so one rank higher.

CraicMammy · 27/04/2019 17:26

Ted said the authority for Kate to investigate fellow AC -12 officers was like “Granny’s nightgown - it covered everything” another favourite line

SinkGirl · 27/04/2019 17:54

She really should have said “chinny reckon” to cover both beard and likelihood of lying 😂

If he’d said that she can’t come in and she’d immediately said that, I’d get it more... I don’t think that’s how it went though. I’ll have a look.

SinkGirl · 27/04/2019 17:55

At the time it appeared they did that because they didn’t want to show their hand about which of the three men she wasn’t investigating

SinkGirl · 27/04/2019 17:56

I am certain though that Dot whispered important things to her when he was dying before the dying declaration. It’s just there in plain sight and then never acknowledged

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 27/04/2019 18:12

Late to this thread because i'm a wee gobshite I only caught up on Episode 4 a couple of days ago.
I can't find earlier thread but can someone clarify...
Towards the end, the horrid noises coming from the room with the poor girls made it sound like they were being assaulted or raped. (With subtitles it was quite graphic)
But when Corbett opened the door just before he had his throat cut, the bloke making the Sex noises was standing there on his own, and the girls seemed to all be fully dressed.
So was all this abuse he could hear fake, to get him to act?

DarlingNikita · 27/04/2019 18:13

So was all this abuse he could hear fake, to get him to act?

Yes. Lise told them he was going to break her and himself out and they set up the situation, including casually leaving the gun on the card table, so he'd expose himself as a rat.

MrsChollySawcutt · 27/04/2019 18:14

Yes the abuse was faked, to get him to act, that's why the OGC man grinned at him when he opened the door to the 'livestock' cell.

BruceAndNosh · 27/04/2019 18:16

Judging by the internet, there are thousands of people who spell definately that way, not just Ted and H.
What if Lise was a pedant and pointed out the typo the first time it was made...?

DidHeReallySayThat · 27/04/2019 18:21

I'm not convinced Ted is actually from Belfast.
Has he ever described something which is really good as *sticking out" ?

CraicMammy · 27/04/2019 18:33

I was confused by that too, I initially thought it was all a set up, but at the end Lisa said to clear up before making the trade, so I think it was for ‘real’, but the director worked to make sure there was nothing seen by us on the screen.

Northumberlandlass · 27/04/2019 18:46

Hmmm yes......
Just trying to link it all together! And failing 🤣

Northumberlandlass · 27/04/2019 18:48

Just got to ‘Grandma night gown’ comment!! 🙄

CraicMammy · 27/04/2019 18:53

I’ve been listening to the BBC podcast Shreds this week, it’s about the Police corruption that gave rise to the wrongful conviction of the Cardiff 3. It really resonated with me, I’ve been re-watching series 4 of LOD as well, and the way Michael Farmer was fitted up by Roz Huntley.

My take home message is, if ever being interviewed by the Polis, make sure you have a blooming good solicitor at your side.

Thank you NotMyPuppy.

Wow! Just wow!

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 27/04/2019 22:23

I hope tomorrow we aren't introduced to half a dozen new top ranking police officers called Hall, Hamilton, Horrocks, Hicks, Hassan and Humphries.

30not13 · 27/04/2019 23:18

😂😂😂😂😂

jessicawessica · 27/04/2019 23:55

I think H is the bloke that Ted is getting into bed with regarding the investment scheme. Wasn't he the same person that Ros had with her in the HC- 12 interviews in the last series?

AtiaoftheJulii · 28/04/2019 00:37

Hall's already on the wall I think Grin
