10 minutes to go!

OP posts:
fancynancyclancy · 16/04/2019 16:48

Ok that makes sense & I guess it helps that JS is a reluctant king.

itswinetime · 16/04/2019 16:51

I do not think Jon's Targaryen heritage will be revealed. What purpose would it serve? The Northeners would be horrified and Jon really does not care one bit about the South.

It will cause massive conflict between him and Danny! Danny isn't saying give me the throne because I have big scary dragons! She is saying she is queen as she is the last Targaryen, She isn't though and in terms of the Targaryen's Jon's claim is now above hers! I can see what pp say that the Targaryens are no longer the ruling power so it's irrelevant and I agree but to Danny it will matter. And it will come out.

I think there's more to the look that Drogon gives John than "stop groping my mum"

I agree Drogon has always had the strongest bond with Danny the look was either recognition of jons heritage (I'm not convinced) or recognition Jon is a threat < my current theory.

Doesn’t Jon still count as half Stark due to his mum or does dads name wipe it out.

He would be half stark but as his parents married he would belong to house Targaryen.

I don't think the night king will be dispatched early and then the end will be who gets the throne that doesn't fit! The first thing we saw was a white killing wasn't it, it was definitely in the first episode. It will end with the resolution of the night king plot whatever that is. My guess is the night king of those working for him will take something/someone from winterfell half our northern troops will go after him half will have to go to kings landing either because of something Cersei’s has done, or for safety

fancynancyclancy · 16/04/2019 17:13

I agree with & hope for a simultaneous ending.

I defo think Drogan was giving John evils.

TakenForSlanted · 16/04/2019 18:23

Well, they said we were going to learn more about the White Walkers. And I very much do hope they deliver.

Whatever the ending is: random big evil without a motive just so happening to pose an existential threat because ... reasons would be the biggest disappointment imaginable in terms of how GoT could end for me.

Closely followed by "and Jon and Dany got married and had a bunch of kids and ruled over a golden age of the Seven Kingdoms and everyone lived happily ever after".

So long as they manage to steer clear of both of these, I'm reasonably certain I'll be fine with whatever happens.

And, yes, Drogon sure did give Jon the evil eye. Maybe he just really cares about on-screen chemistry. Good dragon!

Honeyroar · 16/04/2019 18:33

The annoyance of the Northern Lords with Jon after they stood behind him and voted him King in the North is just like what happened when he was voted in charge at The Wall. He's not a good team leader and he's fallen for another woman "from the other side" again. Although Dany is even worse news for him than Ygritte was as she's also his relative!

ElenadeClermont · 16/04/2019 19:04

I still do not think Jon will announce the news of his parentage, but Tyrion and Varys will work it out.

Under normal circumstances Bran, Sansa and Arya would precede Jon as heir now. In times of war I am not so sure. The Northern lords will go for a commander-type man who leads their army.

TakenForSlanted · 16/04/2019 19:08

Under normal circumstances Bran, Sansa and Arya would precede Jon as heir now. In times of war I am not so sure.

Isn't that kind of what happened already? Jon never has been a legitimate Stark. He was presumed to be Ned's bastard. Hence Snow. Stannis, I believe, offered to legitimise him and make him Warden of the North but Jon turned him down.

Jon isn't (or wasn't, now that he's surrendered to Dany) King in the North on the grounds that he was Ned's heir. He was chosen by the Northern lords. To which end, to be fair, supposedly Ned's son, albeit illegitimate, will have come in handy.

PCohle · 16/04/2019 19:16

But wasn't Jon legitimised by Rob in a letter?

PCohle · 16/04/2019 19:19

Sorry, that's only in the books apparently. And even then we're only told that Robb planned to do it, not that he necessarily did.

HandsOffMyRights · 16/04/2019 19:29

Can somebody tell me why Dragonstone will feature again? In S7 Melisandre told Varys they would die 'in this land'.
Somebody upthread mentioned the Iron Islands will be where people head to. Can't remember why. Especially if the seas freeze.

Geographically, is Dragonstone near the Iron Islands?

TakenForSlanted · 16/04/2019 19:43

Geographically, is Dragonstone near the Iron Islands?

Not at all. Dragonstone lies west of the Crown Lands, i.e. off the East Coast the Iron Islands are located in the north west.

TheweewitchRoz · 16/04/2019 19:54

I'm loving reading all your theories Grin

HandsOffMyRights · 16/04/2019 19:57

Thanks Taken.
So what leads them to Dragonstone I wonder...

Springiscomingsoon · 16/04/2019 20:44

🐉

ElenadeClermont · 16/04/2019 21:24

Dragonstone has a lot of dragonglass and volcanoes to sustain the dragons / create more dragonglass.

The Iron islands are mentioned, because in the show the wights did not like water, or did they? In the books they definitely did not mind: "dead things in the water" at Eastwatch.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem1 · 16/04/2019 22:04

@DragonglassHeart oh, yes! Brian Cox completes the look!

Babysharkdoodoodoodo · 16/04/2019 22:04

Favourite bit: Gendry to Arya ; "As you wish". Little nod to Princess Bride? Grin

sonjadog · 16/04/2019 22:31

I think that look was Drogon acknowledging Jon as the true king. I reckon there will come a point where Dany ordets Drogon to kill Jon and he refuses. I think Drogon will end up killing Dany instead.

EraOfTheGrey · 16/04/2019 22:34

Oh sonjadog that is a good theory, would love that to happen.

ElenadeClermont · 16/04/2019 22:38

I am not sure that is how dragons work. Queen Rhaenyra was certainly killed by Aegon the Second's dragon and she was the rightful queen.

itswinetime · 16/04/2019 22:50

I always thought dragons were loyal to their riders as oppose to having any kind of link to human ideas of kings/queens and laws of succession. I can't really see why dragons would care who sits on throne. In my head Dragon will be loyal to Danny, Rhaegal will eventually be the same with Jon and Viserion the night king all though he is s zombie dragon now so I'm not sure he gets a choice 🤷🏻‍♀️

That's just how I always figured it I have no idea if I'm right.

Mner2019 · 16/04/2019 23:21

If the night king is going to ride a dragon, does that mean he is a targareon?

Honeyroar · 16/04/2019 23:33

He’s already ridden one in the last series. I wish they could find out who the night king was when he was alive.

Ps, re the dragon’s stare, I didn’t find it any more menacing than usual personally- it’s not like they smile normally! Mind you, my horse pulls faces like that daily.

Lweji · 17/04/2019 00:17

He would be half stark but as his parents married he would belong to house Targaryen.

And yet, Cersei considers herself a Lannister.

Lweji · 17/04/2019 00:21

Is it 10 months between the meeting at the Dragon pit and Jaimie arriving in Winterfell?

It doesn't need 10 months. Just 1 or 2 for her pregancy to be longer than for most women. I.e. the difference between Jamie leaving and Euron arriving.
But she could potentially hide a newborn.
