Do we need this or is there another one already started?

I only just caught up with the second episode of the new season and had been avoiding the last thread for a bit so as not to see spoilers and it is now full!

Ignore me if there is a new thread already on the go. If not feel free to use this one mate.

I also did entertain the idea briefly that Tommy Hunter is not dead and is H. But then I remembered he’s not police.

SinkGirl · 21/04/2019 13:06

I don’t think “H” is mentioned before Dot’s DD. It’s all about the caddy in S2, apart from the video interview of Tommy Hunter that doesn’t use names. If H comes up I will certainly update, but I’m 90% sure we never hear about H until Hilton gets hold of Dot’s DD and we see it.

SinkGirl · 21/04/2019 13:09

I expect H is more of a code name - eg he’s the 8th high-ranking police official to be in charge of the OCG, and they just take over one after the other.

Or it’s from a nickname, or a department, or something else. There aren’t enough high ranking officials left with an H name now that Hargreaves and Hilton are out (I refuse to believe it’s Ted, although I’d sort of enjoy it if we find out this season that it is Ted and the next season is just Steve and Kate taking him down). As you say, Ted’s too broke.

SinkGirl · 21/04/2019 13:10

Right now my main suspects are Moffat or Osborne, but I think Moffat is more of a fixer.

CoolCarrie · 21/04/2019 13:11

DH & I got the feeling that Lise and John are related, or maybe the social services are the connection between them, but that means that she could know that he is police. They don’t seem to be lovers or were involved, roll on tonight!

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2019 13:12

On a side note, Martin Compston is , of course, a Catholic boy from the west of Scotland. He must have to concentrate REALLY hard to not say 'Haitch' every time it's in one of his lines!

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2019 13:13

H not mentioned before Dot's death. Or, perhaps, 'death'. Hmm

CoolCarrie · 21/04/2019 13:16

We didn’t know about H until we saw Kate ‘s video which Meenet had given to Hilton, who then showed it to Hastings, who was very pissed off about Hilton having it.

SinkGirl · 21/04/2019 13:19

Yeah, H was definitely shocking news when we saw that video. Didn’t come out before that I’m sure.

There’s always the possibility that Dot wasn’t trying to spell the name at all - what else could it be?

SinkGirl · 21/04/2019 13:56

Ooooh...

So, Dryden’s interview, S2E5

At the end he says “Hastings, I know you’re out there. You’re behind this. Did they bribe you? Get you out of a mess you made for yourself? Yeah, that’s all going to come out now. You’re finished. You’re finished”

Hastings is outside watching with Dot, who turns to Ted and says “empty threats, sir”

😳😳😳

Is it all a big double bluff and it is Ted after all? He could just be talking about Ted’s debt, but I’m not sure.

LizzieMacQueen · 21/04/2019 15:49

Watching this too and wanted to add that I thought the 'pop to the loo' by Gill was to collect his toothbrush dna.

What I found inconsistent was that the trafficked girl KNEW Hargreaves had sex (with Lisa?) used a condom which subsequently got frozen. All this despite being behind a locked door. Or have I got that bit wrong?

pepperpot99 · 21/04/2019 16:40

I am going to watch last week's ep in bit so I am up to speed for tonight's offering. It's too tense!!!

I am fascinated by all the theories on here. I still maintain that we likely have not seen or heard the last of one or other (or all ) of the following: Dot, Nigel, Tommy.

They have to go back to Maneet's cousin Vihan tonight surely? he knows a whole lot, remember how he told Maneet in ep 1 he would "never ever say anything"?

Dryden is alive. So is Maneesh Prasad. What do they know?

I mentioned Carly a while back. She is the original one that got away, does she know Lisa as another poster suggested?

Maybe Ryan is a mole. After all the cops had tabs on him from a young age and it's a bit odd that they couldn't ID him after they kidnapped Maneet. Hmmmm.

'H' could well be 'Her'. Or is it Harinderpal 'Hari' Bains?

WhoWants2Know · 21/04/2019 17:35

I don't think Lise had sex with Hargreaves. The girl knew that there was as standing order to harvest DNA from certain visitors, Hargreaves being one of them. So he was a repeat customer.

When Lise needed to arrange for bent coppers to support the raid on the depot, she found Hargreaves at the brothel to arrange it.

SinkGirl · 21/04/2019 18:20

Yes, that was my interpretation too - that he was a regular there for both sex and OCG meetings, so they have his DNA and Lisa knew she could find him there.

Rewatching S2 I’m thinking they could have had an awesome Keyser Soze moment with Nige being revealed as the top dog... if only they hadn’t blown him faking his injury early on. He is definitely bent though, but written as fairly inept - wouldn’t shock me if he were top dog and even Dot had no idea. When Nige goes through the burner phone from Dot’s service vehicle, Nige says the phone has “lots of interesting numbers” - how does he know whose numbers they are? Surely they weren’t saved as OCG Boss, Bent Hilton etc 😂

Hari Bains was a nervous wreck every time he looked at that burner phone so I definitely don’t think he was H - he didn’t even know Dot was the caddy until he went all Fight Club on him.

I do think Carly could show up, and be a peer of Lisa’s. The link to abused children, Sandsview, social services etc has to be relevant given Hunter’s appearance on that list and Lisa’s social services report.

When they were interviewing Prasad once he had immunity, he recanted his claim that Dryden was the one who arranged the ambush. He said he didn’t want to go into who was top dog and who did arrange the ambush and they didn’t push it for reasons I don’t understand (more proof Hastings knows more than he’s letting on?)

There was an order not to hurt Denton - why? It’s implied that when Akers discusses it with Dot, Denton’s willingness to take the money and not ask questions was the reason why... but I’m not so sure about that. I think there’s more to it.

Here’s something I don’t quite get and maybe someone here can clarify...
Literally one minute they’re doing Hunter’s bidding (Prasad blackmailing Dryden, Akers scaring off Denton etc) and he’s the big boss. Then within a week (I think, need to check dates) they’ve turned on him and are pulling an ambush and to kill him. Why? How’s behind that? Akers and Prasad refer to “other interested parties” - who and why? Prasad says it’s because if he was willing to blackmail an ACC, who else would he blackmail. But aren’t most of the bent coppers part of the OCG because they’ve already been blackmailed?

Is H just a load of bollocks and Dot is really the big boss and he’s still alive pulling the strings? But then his text to someone said “it’s done, and so am I”...

Sorry. I’m thinking way too much about this because I’m laid up with what seems to possibly be flu, and I can’t do anything until I see the doctor on Tuesday because just standing up wipes me out. LOD is keeping me distracted!

Can’t wait for tonight’s episode (please tell me it’s not delayed for Easter!)

WhoWants2Know · 21/04/2019 18:47

Was the order not to hurt Denton just to make sure she went down for it?

CoolCarrie · 21/04/2019 19:47

It’s interesting that the social worker, Oliver I think his name was, Hilton and Meenet were all killed in the same place. Oliver and Meenet were “ good guys” as it were, especially Oliver, he was trying to stop the abuse. could John be a contemporary of Danny? I had a look at the picture of the Danny’s football team again, and there isn’t anyone who looks like Stephen Graham, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t there. H could be a middle initial or a nickname, or something to do with Ryan’s social worker.

Rollergirl11 · 21/04/2019 20:31

Yes I thought Denton was spared just so she’d take the blame for it.

I still get so confused about everything. Am I right in thinking that Prasad didn’t know who Dot was in person as at one point he’s talking about The Caddy actually to Dot? But then Jane Akers knows Dot as she’s involved in planning the ambush with him. But did Jane know Dot was the caddy? I’ve always found it weird that all these bent coppers would take all these orders from a voice on the end of a phone!

Rollergirl11 · 21/04/2019 20:34

And Prasad and Cole knew Hunter and Dryden and Akers but they didn’t know Dot? Lindsey was involved with Akers but she also didn’t know that Dot was involved?

UCOinanOCG · 21/04/2019 20:35

I an rewatching the earlier series with DH. We are on season 4 now and there is still no mention of H. When does that happen? I have forgotten.
