It's back on More4 end of March/ beginning of April. And we're in for a treat, Michael Sheen is playing what appears to be a bit of a reckless lawyer. I've been in love with Michael Sheen since he played Lucian in Underworld (phwooaarrr). Admittedly he's been in some dodgy films since then but all is forgiven as far as I'm concerned.

More plot information and a trailer is here:

Yes, I wondered if Maia had split up from her partner. I thought they were getting married.

Invisibleiink · 27/04/2019 08:07

Yes I agree Grey, it may be a bit soon for Maia to give up the flat, though irl it wouldn't be that easy to get an equally well paid job once she's been fired for drug possession - so perhaps Maia is just being realistic! (in "good fight life" it may well work out fine!)

Maia's partner (?name) does seem to have disappeared. I know there was a suggestion of marriage at one time, but was that in series 1, and it was hinted that Maia suggested it so that partner couldn't be forced to give evidence against maia?

Luca's partner (?also name) is in Washington isn't he - was he elected as a Congressperson? His idea was that Luca would get a job in Washington (I think he might even have found her one!) but she decided to stay in Chicago. I would still expect him to visit her and Joseph though!

kazzaD66 · 27/04/2019 11:27

Midsomer I said exactly the same thing to DH this week re Rob Brydon doing Pacino. Maybe it's because they're both from South Wales Grin

Italiangreyhound · 27/04/2019 11:38

I thought this week''s episode was much better. The 'it was me thing's was good.

But - would Jay really hit a man like that?

Freshlysteamedvajayjay · 27/04/2019 13:18

This ep was definitely better, and there was even an actual court case! Downside is it looks like Blume is here to stay!
I thought the riot was good at showing how regardless of republican or Democrat they are united against the Neo Nazis.
I have a lot of questions though:
What was the polling day for and why did they need Republican and Democrat lawyers present?
Presumably the NSA has clocked Diane’s texts/calls of the pics Lucca sent her? Will there be comeback and Lucca now under surveillance too?
Why is Jay suddenly letting out his rage?
Why is Diane setting Maia up with jobs that only start months away?

Italiangreyhound · 27/04/2019 13:26

I reckon either she didn't know the jobs started in 6 months time or that was all she could find. I always believe the best.

Invisibleiink · 27/04/2019 15:33

Yes it was odd that Maia seemed to assume ill of Diane when she asked the interviewer if Diane knew that the jobs didn't start for ages. And she wouldn't take her calls.

But why would Diane only want to recommend Maia for jobs starting in the distance - that was what I didn't understand about Maia's reaction? How does that benefit Diane?

JessicaPeach · 27/04/2019 20:58

Wasn't it because Marissa told her if she revealed the identity of Blume's 'witness' then Diane would get her some interviews? I thought she was annoyed because she'd given the info for nothing really!

Italiangreyhound · 02/05/2019 21:28

Wow, love Luca's dress. But it is pricey!

NurseButtercup · 02/05/2019 22:06

Why is Jay suddenly letting out his rage?

He's an immigrant and the neo-nazi's are explicitly anti-immigrants. Didn't one of them swing at Jays girlfriend the news reporter?

He's also frustrated with the blatant intimidation tactics being used to turn away black voters. And just the general micro-aggressions towards immigrants and black people.

I don't endorse violence; but in this instance if I was there I would have been swinging as well.

So.....anybody just watched, and if so was she for real or not for real?

Italiangreyhound · 02/05/2019 22:26

She was not for real, she was an imitator after the pee-pee tape. That's my view!

Crap episode. What a shame.

"I don't endorse violence; but in this instance if I was there I would have been swinging as well." NurseButtercup how is that view not endorsing violence? He could have landed himself on a charge, how would that help the cause?

It was a silly move, IMHO. Better to fight them with smarts not fists, IMHO.

waterandlemonjuice · 02/05/2019 22:31

@nursebuttercup I agree, the song interludes are annoying, Blume is annoying, the idea that Diane and Liz would break the law is annoying...

waterandlemonjuice · 02/05/2019 22:31

I agree, she was an imitator

NurseButtercup · 02/05/2019 22:33

But why would Diane only want to recommend Maia for jobs starting in the distance - that was what I didn't understand about Maia's reaction? How does that benefit Diane?

I don't think Diane has the same network or influence that she used to have. She lost everything at the beginning of season 1, because of Maia's father, nobody would return her calls. Hence the reason she ended up working for Adrian (she later became a partner). I feel like Maia's anger is misplaced. She was caught with drugs, Diane lost the vote to keep her and it's not Diane's fault that Maia's father is a crook and has forever tarnished her name.

Nobody really wants to employ Maia hence the long job start dates, the interviews she attended were a courtesy/favour to Diane.

Maia's partner (?name) does seem to have disappeared. Didn't she testify in court against Maia incriminating Maia, which effectively ended their relationship?

NurseButtercup · 02/05/2019 22:35

@Italiangreyhound

I meant to say, I don't usually endorse violence.

There fixed it Wink

Italiangreyhound · 02/05/2019 22:49

NurseButtercup "I feel like Maia's anger is misplaced.* I agree, she was stupid, if she kept the drugs in her car she is stupid. If Bloom placed them here should have dobbed him in.

I never endorse violence - except in self defense.

Italiangreyhound · 02/05/2019 23:07

They seem to have forgotten the law, it's all about funny little songs and odd characters. Where are the legal dramas?

Italiangreyhound · 02/05/2019 23:11

And the axe throwing!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/05/2019 23:17

It's getting a bit panto now, I'm rapidly going off it and I loved it.

Imitator I think.

MoodLighting · 02/05/2019 23:28

Yeah gutted it's gone well panto since the LSD micro-dosing thing last season. I hate Blume!! Tonight's episode about Melania was nuts. Love the axe throwing thing, I could get into that.

NurseButtercup · 03/05/2019 08:39

@italiangreyhound

I understand that you don't endorse violence, you've made that very very clear. I am not you and you are not me; therefore our outlooks & visceral responses to external stimuli will naturally differ.

However, I was offering a perspective in response to this question:

"Why is Jay suddenly letting out his rage?"

I understand his rage and his frustration, on an average day using your "smarts" is the adopted approach, in order to be a law abiding and civilised member of society.

But the build-up of the micro-aggressions takes it toll on your spirit.

Some aggressors cannot be reasoned with and refuse to resolve issues via dialogue, they just want to fight. Which is what we witnessed in this scene.

Fortunately in my day to day life I haven't experienced this level of vitriol and abuse. I used to say we are lucky in the UK because the racially charged abuse is more covert here than it is in the USA. But the racism has changed in this country since the Brexit vote. If someone was verbally abusive towards me, I'd probably tolerate some of the abuse and laugh it off as a tactic to frustrate and dismiss them. But if someone was physically abusive towards me I'm swinging back.

NurseButtercup not sure what you mean. I do know we are both entitled to our own opinion. I'm expressing mine and you are expressing yours. That's fine.

The only people I normally see (in the majority of cases) violently expressing their anger are very small children and men. Everyone else keeps violent expression under control. So for me Jay did a. majoly shity thing. Bit so did the red jacket and hopefully he is now facing charges.

Anyway, not negating your views just expressing nine. I am genuinely sorry if my post came off as anything other than my opinion. Smile

And yes I did look up axe throwing to see if it is a real thing. It is, and again I find that weird. Just my view!

Invisibleiink · 03/05/2019 09:28

How did Diane get into axe throwing - I know it was only a couple of weeks ago, but can't remember? Has she replaced karate with it?

No Maia this week. Interesting buttercup, was the point that the interviews were just to appear to do Diane a favour, with no real intention of giving Maia a job? So not that Diane wants her off the scene, but that she just hasn't got the influence to get her a job. I agree that Maia seems to be blaming her unfairly!

Yes, Maia's partner did give evidence against her, but they stayed together after that - I think they were together last series weren't they? (hard to remember!!)
