It's back on More4 end of March/ beginning of April. And we're in for a treat, Michael Sheen is playing what appears to be a bit of a reckless lawyer. I've been in love with Michael Sheen since he played Lucian in Underworld (phwooaarrr). Admittedly he's been in some dodgy films since then but all is forgiven as far as I'm concerned.

More plot information and a trailer is here:

I would like fewer songs, less Trump crypt action and more court. Possibly less Julius too.

RosaWaiting · 20/04/2019 12:27

I think they are stuffing too much in

it's got potential to be good, but this week was like some kind of political bingo.

TheweewitchRoz · 20/04/2019 12:35

I don't like Julius at all - not sure what he adds as a character other than to show that there are Trump supporters who are also black?

Agree re having more court scenes. Really miss the Good Wife and Will and Diane court scenes.

RosaWaiting · 20/04/2019 12:37

I do like Julius but that's from The Good Wife. I thought his skills were put to good use this week with his worthy speech about Marissa Grin

hope the Sheen character isn't coming back. No idea what that was meant to be about.

Italiangreyhound · 21/04/2019 02:00

I would also like fewer songs. They get in your head. And I still do not know what a Russian troll farm is!

Freshlysteamedvajayjay · 21/04/2019 11:53

This season has lost its way... I like it in its own way, if it had been a completely different series I’d love it more but the GF was great in the early seasons and wish they’d continue what they started.

Agree their reactions/actions are completely unrealistic. Liz and Diane have distinguished careers to protect, I doubt they’d really get involved with this group without a lot of due diligence. Maia throwing a laptop through a window and being allowed back to work, keeping the drugs in her car, trying the drugs in the first place (a lot of professionals are subject to drug testing at work in the US), the firm letting someone relatively inexperienced work with Blume, Lucca only being mildly concerned when she first got hate emails, surely her husband would have been all over it...I could go on.

I did like how they looked at bias in the last ep and how the firm upholds through playing the system themselves.

southeastdweller · 21/04/2019 12:04

I agree they're packing too much in this season and it's why I can't get fully involved in any of the stories. But this week's episode was better than the previous three, thanks to no Michael Sheen.

I miss Colin.

Bonniegirlie · 21/04/2019 12:13

Reading through the posts it's good to see that it's not just me and DH who think it's gone downhill. Some if it is just so weird and we have been struggling to see the point of the songs/cartoons etc.

I have watched this and the Good Wife from the start and it was our favourite programme but not anymore.

Hopefully it will return to "normal" soon

Italiangreyhound · 21/04/2019 12:34

"I did like how they looked at bias in the last ep and how the firm upholds through playing the system themselves."

This is the substance to me, the law, the rest is frosting!

I miss Michale J Fox, he was amazing. HE needs to come back and HE needs to employ Mia and then Elsbeth Tacioni needs to go head to head with Blume and WIN.

"I have watched this and the Good Wife from the start and it was our favourite programme but not anymore." Ditto.

kazzaD66 · 25/04/2019 11:05

I didn't like Michael Sheen's character (and I normally love anything MS does) - too ott and clichéd. Maia is even more annoying, which is saying something, and why would anyone with half a brain keep drugs on show in their car for however long it was?

Luca seems to have lost all her fun and now seems a bit priggish.

No one seems to actually work as lawyers anymore. They just waft around and have meetings. I used to love the court scenes, especially when it involved some of the fantastic oddball judges that used to crop up on a regular basis Grin

The cartoon songs are just nauseating and I am now thoroughly fed up with the whole Trump thing. Maybe this works better in the US than here, but I try not to see or think about the appalling man at the best of times, so I certainly don't want to be reminded about him when I'm watching a so-called entertainment programme Angry

At least Marissa seems unchanged, although it did make me pine for Alan Cumming when she was talking about her father. I loved Eli - can't believe they've shoved him to Albania Grin

Rant over, as you were......

Freshlysteamedvajayjay · 25/04/2019 16:12

Maybe the next spinoff should be about Marissa?!

TheweewitchRoz · 25/04/2019 18:17

Marissa would be fantastic but then I thought that about a Diane spin off too!

RosaWaiting · 25/04/2019 18:41

there was a change of the team working on the Good Wife towards the end, I think? It was partly why the ending was appalling and why Alicia was reduced to - well I don't know what really - throughout the last season.

If it's the same team working on the Good Fight this season, I wouldn't be surprised.

I never thought I'd hear someone say they missed Colin Grin He was a great character but I thought he got put on stage to do the same thing too many times in the end.

Invisibleiink · 26/04/2019 06:37

Two questions about last night:

Has Maia split up with her partner? Did we see that happening in an earlier series?

Maia asked the interviewer if Diane had known that the job didn't start until November - and the interviewer said yes. Then Maia rejected Diane's call. Why was that relevant - did Maia think Diane was trying to keep her out of the job market for a while, and if so why? (I realise this calls for speculation!) I was hoping for one of those door bursting open scenes where Maia would storm in and say 'you snake! [insert explanation of why Diane had done this]'

RosaWaiting · 26/04/2019 09:56

nearly switched off several times last night, mostly because of Michael Sheen.

I thought "I am Spartacus" went well.

also I clearly haven't been paying attention because why does Maia blame Luca for being fired?

Invisibleiink · 26/04/2019 10:07

Yes I wondered that Rosa - but maybe Maia didn't blame Luca, just was too depressed/embarrassed to talk.

Luca did raise issues in the firm about disparity in pay and that led on to concerns being expressed about disparity in treatment of staff with drug issues, hence Maia was fired; so I suppose in a way Luca was responsible! But not really - obviously Maia was really the one responsible.

Where's Maia's nice partner though? did we ever see them break up?

RosaWaiting · 26/04/2019 10:20

oh I see....yes, in that way she might blame Luca. Probably I'm not picking up because I've lost interest.

really hope Michael Sheen doesn't reappear. So much potential being wasted!

RosaWaiting · 26/04/2019 10:21

PS I mean potential on the show, not Michael Sheen. Bet it gets cancelled after this season.

GreyBasket · 26/04/2019 11:19

I really enjoyed the riot. I thought it was well done!

I am worried Maia will try to commit suicide or something. She seemed so desperate at the end of the episode.

I don't remember seeing her break up either. Or know why she is suddenly moving flats and where to.

Invisibleiink · 26/04/2019 11:40

Presumably the moving flats is because Maia can't afford it, having lost her job - maybe she didn't want Luca to see what she was doing? (can't remember if Maia opened the door wide enough to show).

Fleabag123 · 26/04/2019 12:07

I’m glad to see it’s not just me! I adored s1&2 of the good fight but I’m really struggling with this series.
Missing the clever courtroom scenes (I don’t count the ones with MS as I can’t bear his character’s dirty tricks). The songs are good as a novelty but feels like they’re doing it for the sake of it now.
Marissa is still great, but I’m losing love for both Maia and Lucca with the way their characters are being developed.
I hope it might return to form but 4 eps in it isn’t looking good!

GreyBasket · 26/04/2019 13:55

@Invisibleiink I know it's awful to pick holes in their story (when much of it is hardly believable anyway!!!) but it just would be too soon I think for her to move for financial reasons, just on the very day she finds out the job doesn't start immediately. It's crackers.

Yes, yes about her not opening the door wide enough though. That makes sense.

RosaWaiting · 26/04/2019 14:48

The court case was actually very interesting, but completely ruined by that character.

NurseButtercup · 26/04/2019 16:02

I don't understand what's happened to this program. Who is the character that Martin Sheen is playing supposed to be based on? What is this feminist, left wing activist group that Diane and Liz have joined? There is no way I would risk my career/reputation etc and engage in criminal activity to make sure the current president doesn't win again. Why is Lucca a single mom when she was clearly in love with her baby daddy (can't remember his name), last season? What are these stupid strip cartoon intermissions?

I'm irrationally annoyed with how rubbish this season is this, and how rubbish my favourite TV show is turning out grrrrrrr.

Cush Jumbo posted on her Instagram that this has been been renewed for a 4th series. Are we missing something? Are we experiencing a European v USA lost in translation situation?

stupidly I'm still watching - hoping that this will get better. Thank goodness I'm able to watch game of thrones & line of duty to offset my disappointment.

midsomermurderess · 26/04/2019 16:15

Michael Sheen seems to be based on Rob Brydon doing Al Pacino in The Trip. I'm enjoying it in parts but it's becoming increasing;y didactic and the cartoon song interludes make me cringe.
