Hope it's OK for me to start a new thread - could not believe we'd burned out on the last one.

Am looking forward to seeing highlights of the Fed/Tits match later.

kazza I cried when that match ended. Blush.

it was one of the most emotional matches I've ever watched.

Chang did the under arm serve thing in his match against Lendl too- he was not happy at all.

Raahh · 21/01/2019 15:09

on court coaching happens a lot more already on the women's tour, and I'm not keen.

I like it when the coaches want to get involved and the players ignore them though ( as happened at the next gen finals). Grin

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2019 15:10

Oh I hate the on-court coaching Bagel

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2019 15:14

Stefanos wouldn't answer his father's calls which was hilarious Grin I think he broke a headset as well

Raahh · 21/01/2019 15:37

Jane he didn't, did he?

And didn't the headsets looks all sweaty?!

kazzaD66 · 21/01/2019 16:21

Unless it's a team event, I don't agree with on court coaching either. I think it makes the players look weak. Next, they'll be having someone come on to court to play for them because they can't be bothered to play themselves.....AngryGrin

BagelGoesWalking · 21/01/2019 16:31

Damn it, went to bed recording both Eurosport channels but they didn't seem to show much of the Nishikori match or all of the Pouille. Oh well.

Fast forwarded much of the Serena match. Christ, that romper suit is a abomination! Horrific colour, awful cut, just horrendous.

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2019 16:38

kazza Grin

kazzaD66 · 21/01/2019 17:29

Jane I'm liking him more and more - no on court coaching, he serves and volleys, has a single handed backhand......perhaps I'm just old fashioned Hmm It's also just struck me that with his blonde flowing locks, he reminds me a bit of Vitas Gerualitis Grin

PrivateParkin · 21/01/2019 17:36

Not to mention the short shorts Grin

PrivateParkin · 21/01/2019 17:37

Or is that just me?

Raahh · 21/01/2019 17:38

He is quite sweary sometimes- usually in Greek. He was the other day, against Basilashvili. He was very apologetic (and did get a couple of code violations for his troubleGrin).

Mats Wilander was saying how he likes how Tsitsipas does 'angry'.Grin

Raahh · 21/01/2019 17:39

Short shorts are always good Grin

PrivateParkin · 21/01/2019 17:43

Tomorrow is looking good for the night session. I love Barty and Kvitova, Barty has such a throwback style that's great to watch. But Petra is brilliant too, and it would be great to see her win another Slam after all she's been through. Then Rafa - Tiafoe of course.

I saw the end of the Nishikori match - poor old PCB. He issued a tearful apology for swearing at the ump, I really felt for him.

Jane I agree this has been a great tournament, and yes to the rest of the year being like this - but with added Delpo please.

Raahh · 21/01/2019 17:48

Oh, poor PCBSadIt was such a horrible way to lose, he must have been so emotional- probably quite out of character, his reaction.

And yy Private to added Delpo!

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2019 17:56

I'd forgotten about Vitas Gerualitis kazza but I was young when he was around. I googled and read that he died at 40 from carbon monoxide poisoning. Very sad.

kazzaD66 · 21/01/2019 18:22

I hope you're not implying I'm old Jane ?! Hmm Grin

Raahh · 21/01/2019 18:25

Grinkazza

it is very sad how Vitas died.

Very much looking forward to tomorrow. I wish I didn't have to go anywhere.

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2019 18:26

As if

He was in Wimbledon semis 1978 so I was 9 then Grin

PrivateParkin · 21/01/2019 18:30

Weren't he and Mac bezzies? I think I've heard/read Mac talking about how devastated he was about what happened.

kazzaD66 · 21/01/2019 18:33

He was a very good mate of Johnny Mac, two New Yorkers, played Davis Cup together. And yes, these two wore some of the shortest shorts around which was saying something at that time! Blush

kazzaD66 · 21/01/2019 18:33

X post Private Grin

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2019 18:34

John McEnroe's shorts are the reason I love tennis to this day Grin

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2019 18:38

We only had one channel in those ancient times in Ireland so the only tennis on was Wimbledon. Probably why it will always be my favourite tournament.
