Hope it's OK for me to start a new thread - could not believe we'd burned out on the last one.

Am looking forward to seeing highlights of the Fed/Tits match later.

Ooh

Raahh · 21/01/2019 12:19

He is cross now.

Fizzywinegum · 21/01/2019 12:20

Wow amazing comeback for kei - feel sorry for carreno busta

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2019 12:21

Wow! Hard loss for either player.

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2019 12:22

Keith looks ready for bed.

Raahh · 21/01/2019 12:23

And Medvedev has a set. It's all going on!

That was a bit like when Chang himself beat the lovely Stefan after Stefan was winning in the 4th and 5th sets at RG in '89

(no, I've never forgiven you, Michael). Grin

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2019 12:24

Michael Chang looks very emotional after that.

PrivateParkin · 21/01/2019 12:26

Argh I wish I was watching this - sounds v exciting!

Lol at Keith v Robbie Grin

Raahh · 21/01/2019 12:26

Jane I agree.

CB is going to be really angry with himself- and everyone else for a bit. . It was a shame it had to end like that, it was such a good match- the bits I saw.

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2019 12:27

Keith is such a young looking 29

Raahh · 21/01/2019 12:29

Chang did look like he wanted to cry!

You know- though obviously, I want Rafa to win the tournament- this year has thrown up so many incredible stories and matches , that if someone like Keith, or RBA did the unthinkable and won it, or Tsitsipas broke through- I think it would be amazing.

I just don't want Rafa to lose to Djok.

I can (nearly) cope with him losing to anyone else (now Fed is out).

Raahh · 21/01/2019 12:31

Jane he is .

Chang is about 5 weeks younger than me. We were 17 that summer of '89.

He's probably aged better Grin.

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2019 12:32

Yes it's been a great tournament and a good mix of old and newer players getting through. Hope the year carries on like this.

I'm disappointed Sascha is out though.

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2019 12:35

My dog has been running crazily around the kitchen with his chewy toy because I was ignoring him during the tie-break.

JaneJeffer · 21/01/2019 12:38

Novak seems to be in pain.

Raahh · 21/01/2019 12:39

Jane it's odd about Sascha, it wasn't even a close match- but he doesn't seem to do well at slams (I know he's still young).
There was a lot of pressure too, coming off winning the WTF.

It echoes Dimitrov, when he won the tour finals and then didn't match up his semi final showing in Australia in 2017, losing to Kyle in the qf last year.

Raahh · 21/01/2019 12:40

He had a bit of a fall. But he does slide about a bit.

PrivateParkin · 21/01/2019 12:42

Zverev must be sick as a dog about that result against Raonic, especially following on from Tsitsipas beating Roger.

Raahh · 21/01/2019 12:44

It's bin day.

Therefore my dog is barking at fresh air, because he can maybe hear a bin van somewhere in the distance.

Grin
Raahh · 21/01/2019 12:46

Private definitely- Stefanos has thrown down the gauntlet- I think it is only a matter of time before he overtakes Sascha. Just can't get too cocky. Grin.

Raahh · 21/01/2019 12:54

This is an odd set. Djokovic looked ill at one point, and now Medvedev just seems to be throwing it away.

Raahh · 21/01/2019 14:24

Well, that ended a bit flatly. Not that convinced by Djok in the end, myself. And Medvedev seemed to just fade.

Getting ahead of myself- if Raonic plays as well as did today, he is a big threat now. I'm not sure Keith will have much left in the tank- but Novak could be injured? who knows. I think Milos should beat Pouille, and ought to fancy his chances if he meets Djok in the semis.

But Keith has been a houdini many times over this tournament!

Tonightstheteriyakichicken · 21/01/2019 14:31

Well done Novak, wish I could warm to him.

kazzaD66 · 21/01/2019 14:50

Raahh I most certainly will never forgive Chang for beating the wondrous Stefan in the French final (can't believe that's almost 30 years ago!) Shock Stefan would have had a career Grand Slam if it wasn't for him Angry Didn't Chang even hit a couple of underarm serves towards the end because he was so knackered or cramping? Shouldn't have been allowed, bloody cheating if you ask me. clearly not still bitter and twisted about it after all these years! Grin

BagelGoesWalking · 21/01/2019 15:04

Catching up on Pouille match. Commentators are saying that allowing on-court coaching is being seriously considered for next year's slam? Say it isn't so?

I think I would hate this, one of the major attractions of tennis is the fact that players have to work out the match by themselves once they're in court.

As a woman, I would dislike seeing all the young female players, inevitably coached my men (often their fathers) being given instruction during a match. Just feeds into the idea that women can't do it for themselves!
