Hope it's OK for me to start a new thread - could not believe we'd burned out on the last one.

Am looking forward to seeing highlights of the Fed/Tits match later.

Jane thank you. He's gone to bed. School is just over whelming at the moment. But he wants to be there. It's very stressful.

I know I knew the result- but well done Pliskova Grin

magimedi · 23/01/2019 13:42

Flowers Raahh. Many years ago my DS had MH problems - I know how tiring & stressful it is.

Thank you , magi , it's been a really awful year, and doesn't seem to letting up. I am trying to keep positive. But it is exhausting- and difficult to keep things 'normal' in front of the girls, who don't really know what has gone on.

We'll get there.

magimedi · 23/01/2019 14:02

You will get there - hold on to that.

If you had told me where DS would be now, some 15 years ago I would never have believed you. Life is now good & calm.

Keep Buggering On & hold on hard to the small things that are good (like Serena losing Grin ).

It's things like waffling about tennis (and rubbish soaps) that keep me going. Grin

Raahh · 23/01/2019 14:14

And Serena losing is definitely a good thing. Grin

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 14:19

Keep Buggering On

A great motto magi. It's so wearing on you when someone close has MH issues, I've been there, and I know for sure following tennis is classed as self-care!! Flowers

BagelGoesWalking · 23/01/2019 15:28

Cor blimey! Not the result for Serena that I was expecting. When I saw the ankle roll in slow mo, it did look uncomfortable but she went on to have pretty good mobility in the following set. Glad the crowd got behind Plishkova more in the last set, as she's not the kind of player to actively engage with the crowd.

Really wasn't expecting Pouille to win and will he be knackered for the next match?

Naomi Osaka looks good, she is adorably dorky in her post match interviews on court.

Please let Jim Courier so the post match interviews from now on! Just can't stand McEnrose doing them, Courier asks really good questions and is much nicer overall.

Very best wishes to you, Raahh, and your DS.

JaneJeffer · 23/01/2019 15:41

Courier always used to do them. I wonder why they changed to Mac. I'm enjoying the look of fear in their eyes and Rafa refusing to give anything away Grin

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 15:58

Grin Jane yes they do look nervous of Mac - probably thinking "wtf is he going to ask me?!"

Courier did the interview with Novak today - but why does he (Jim) always go into that "power" stance beloved by Tory politicians Hmm

Raahh · 23/01/2019 17:13

Thanks Bagel and Private

Oh, I wish tomorrow was the final. Much as I like Stefanos, I do still want Rafa to win the tournament- but if he was to lose to him, I wouldn't mind so much if it was in the final. If that makes sense. Grin

As I've said before, I really don't want Rafa to lose to Djok again in the final.

I think Stefanos could beat Djok though, If that final happened. He's done it in Canada- when Djok was in a good run of form. And Tsits can hold his own over 5 sets- and doesn't care who it is over the other side of the net Grin.

magimedi · 23/01/2019 17:37

Just watched the highlights of the Serena?Plitskova match.

God, the commentators annoyed me (Mark Petchey & Casey Dellaqua).

They banged on & on about how unfair it was to call Serena's foot fault on match point. Personally I think it was karma for Serena & that it couldn't happen to a nicer person Grin.

OP posts:
Raahh · 23/01/2019 17:53

I'm with you there, magi. She just seemed to give up- if it was bad, she would have got the trainer. She didn't.

Raahh · 23/01/2019 17:54

I missed a sentence there- I wrote 'the foot fault was karma, and then the injury seemed fake, to me'.

Then it disappeared Grin

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 17:55

It was such a weird match wasn't it? God knows what was going on.

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 17:57

Also, I'm annoyed that the first men's semi is tomorrow and the second is on Fri. Why do they do this?! I much prefer the Wimbledon set-up where they play the same round on the same day - much less confusing!

JaneJeffer · 23/01/2019 17:57

It's a conspiracy Raahh Grin

Petch is very annoying magi he's worse to listen to than Inverdale!

Raahh · 23/01/2019 18:01

I have a theory she decided she didn't want to meet Osaka again. Grin

And it would be a far less partisan crowd- I think Naomi will have gained a few fans.

JaneJeffer · 23/01/2019 18:05

Ooh yes!

Fizzywinegum · 23/01/2019 18:23

Wow you lot are chatty Grin

Glad that Serena lost - she probably didn’t want to face Osaka.

Flowers to Raahh and to your DS

Waffling on about tennis definitely counts as self care

I’m not going to be able to watch the match tomorrow Sad but not sure if I’ll be able to not look at the scores this time. I hope it’s a good match and agree that if Rafa was to lose against anyone would prefer it to be Tsitsipas - I really like him.

I think Djokovic will get to the final but hopefully Pouille will prove me wrong

I just remember the end of the mac/connors era - watching Mac arguing with the umpire at Wimbledon is my first memory of tennis.

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 18:24

Ooh interesting theory Raahh!!!

Fizzywinegum · 23/01/2019 19:50

The tennis podcast has just made me laugh - they said that carreno busta should have been waiting in the wings “Stars in their Eyes” style for when kei retired so that he could have said “tonight Mathew I’m going to be Kei Nishikori” and taken over in the match - that would have been good.

They also said that Serena probably had the thought of meeting Osaka in the next round which could have put her off so your theory could be true Raahh.

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 20:01

Haha! Yes PCB must have been so annoyed about how it all unfolded. Although he may not have been good for much himself - although he's probably not as injury prone as Kei, to be fair.

Haven't listened to the pod yet Fizzy - have got into a habit of listening at bedtime so will tune in later. Am shattered at the mo, all this tennis viewing is exhausting Grin

Raahh · 23/01/2019 20:04

Fizzy I seriously think she is a coward Grin. She likes all eyes on her- and certainly wouldn't want to spend the time before the match fielding the inevitable questions about how she felt about facing Osaka.

I'm glad not to have to hear her put on that fake little girl voice she affects, while she says 'oh no, I love Naomi, we are best friends'- whilst glaring daggers at the anyone who dares suggest different, to be honest.Grin

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 20:05

She's refused to speak about the USO final hasn't she, AFAIK?
