Hope it's OK for me to start a new thread - could not believe we'd burned out on the last one.

Am looking forward to seeing highlights of the Fed/Tits match later.

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 09:38

Oh no

Raahh · 23/01/2019 09:38

Noooo.

How sad.

I hope Pouille can pull off an upset.

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 09:39

All our hopes rest on Pouille!!

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 09:42

To think, this time last year, I was nearly feeling sorry for Djok, and his issues, wondering if we would ever see him back to his best.

Well, we've seen it now. He can go away again. Grin.

"To think, this time last year, I was nearly feeling sorry for Djok, and his issues, wondering if we would ever see him back to his best."

So it's all your fault, Raahh. You're not going to be my friend anymore, nehnehneh Grin

It was only nearly magi ...Grin and only because I didn't want Fed to win in AO again, when Rafa was injured Grin.

He was looking skinny and pretty out of it for months. All those early losses.

I soon got over myself once the clay season started -Go Chicken, etcGrin.

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 11:44

Funny you should say that Raahh - I was thinking in that match today that Novak looked v bright eyed and bushy tailed. Quite a change from this time last year. I'd forgotten he lost to Chung in Aus last year until they mentioned it today.

Has anyone seen Tsitsipas' "celebration" after he beat RBA - they showed it on Eurosport earlier. He fell straight onto his back - on a hard court!! It's like falling on on concrete! I know he is a sprightly youngster, but still - that's got to have hurt!! I wonder if he'll regret doing that??

Raahh · 23/01/2019 11:52

I had a call from school to pick ds up- he had a panic attack and was quite distressed. Sad. Then the dog decided that since the tennis was over early, I could shift my butt Grin.

I saw that Private maybe his super bouncy curls saved his back. Grin
I'm not saying he has a hairy back. He will have the back of a Grecian god statue, obviously. With a tan.
The more I see of him, the more I think he's just so cool- and I'm glad I chose him to be my Rafa in waiting. Grin. And he's very different. But then, Rafa was different to Stefan. But all are nice guys.

He is very chilled, with his photography, and his travel vlogs. And he's obviously clever (which as pointed out on twitter, seems to wind up Kyrgios, who just doesn't get him!).

Raahh · 23/01/2019 11:53

I'm just watching the Serena match.

So much fun knowing the result Grin

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 12:07

Raahh I hope your DS is ok Flowers and that you are as well Brew

I'm watching Serena too. I don't know how they handle that bright sun with no sunglasses/hat etc!!

Lol at Tsitsipas' lustrous locks cushioning his fall Grin - that would be great! Yes Kyrgios was really mean to Stefanos wasn't he? Well who's laughing now eh?!

Raahh · 23/01/2019 12:13

I'm ok, Private - keep saying I will be glad when he leaves school. But I'm beginning to think that will bring it's own problems, and he's got to get through his GCSE's yet.

Anyway...back to the tennis, the sun looks brutal. I was at Wembley last year (women's FA cup final,) at the end that had the sun on it for all but the last 10 minutes of the match. It was painful. I could barely see the pitch.

Kyrgios tried very hard to goad Tsitsipas, iirc, but I think Stefanos is far too clever for him.

Raahh · 23/01/2019 12:13

Ooh- we're coming up to where the turning point is going to happen. Grin

Raahh · 23/01/2019 12:15

oooooh.

Now- I'm not generally a fan of the foot fault rule. And they do seem to happen disproportionately at crucial times. But...

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 12:20

Yes I hate the foot fault rule - so petty. That and the net touching rule! Serena didn't seem ruffled by it but maybe she was? I couldn't make out what happened with her ankle either.

You'd be thinking there was only going to be one winner at 5-1 though, wouldn't you?

kazzaD66 · 23/01/2019 12:23

I may have to watch the BBC highlights this afternoon if they show Serena tanking it wouldn't normally watch her but as she didn't win, I might......does this make me a bad person? (don't care!) Grin

PrivateParkin · 23/01/2019 12:30

Definitely get tuning in kazza!

Patrick Moratoglu said Serena didn't call the trainer because she knew it was pointless and her tournament was over once she rolled her ankle Hmm But Serena said Pliskova just played too well and the ankle didn't affect her. So who knows?!

Meanwhile, Pliskova looks like some kind of ice Queen!

JaneJeffer · 23/01/2019 12:31

Stefanos is far too clever for him would not be hard in all fairness

kazza you are awful but I like you Grin

Raahh · 23/01/2019 12:33

She barely moved over on her ankle though. It seemed very odd. It was just to provide an excuse, imo.

Kazza Grin

JaneJeffer · 23/01/2019 12:34

Hope DS is ok Raahh panic attacks are awful and replay in your mind when you're in a similar situation so having one at school is shit.

Raahh · 23/01/2019 12:36

Patrick is also talking balls- she was still 5-2 up, one slip by Pkiskova and the match was hers.

Very, very suspicious.

And she can't yell sexism, the umpire was a woman.

But fair play to Pliskova, not to be phased by her antics.
